"It is now clear somebody created a fake FB account using a photograph of a woman without her permission and made posts implying she was a ticketholder to our #WPUK event in Brighton. After the event they posted, as if from her, that she had spat at a protestor and thought it was funny. This post was screenshotted and posted on Twitter.

This was then used to attack Woman’s Place UK by impugning the attendees at Monday’s meeting and promote lies about us and our supporters. The account has been reported and removed but, as we know, a lie is often half way round the world before the truth has got its boots on.

These are not the first such social media attacks we have been subjected to. We have had a fake twitter account set up in imitation. Our meeting hashtag #WPUK is now routinely hijacked by people posting sexual innuendo. Our posts have been routinely, and dishonestly, reported, hidden and obstructed.

We are not interested in a petty social media battle with people who oppose our aims. We are a campaign established to ensure that women’s voices and women’s rights are upheld in any proposed changes to a law that affects them.

This morning, our supporters are reporting that FB posts which link to our website are being removed. The reason give is that ‘they may be in breach of community standards’. They are not in breach of community standards. We would urge you to visit our website, read the posts and decide for yourself.

We have five demands. If you agree with these demands we would ask you to stand with us now and share our various posts far and wide to expose the spiteful attempt to shut us down instead of engage with our substantive demands.

We refuse to be side tracked by the vindictiveness of such campaigns. We are interested in a resolution that upholds the rights of everyone. We are not afraid of debate. We welcome it.

We call on our detractors to cease these attacks and to engage with us in serious discussion.

We are asking you to share this statement on all your social media platforms with all your followers and friends."

They are honestly that stupid and addled by the pomo that they genuinely don't know that their own ideology is hyper-individualist, ultra-capitalist, misogynistic and homophobic and thus has far more in common with right wing thinking than anything we say.

I would dispute entirely the suggestion that Females= Mr Jones !

Only as far as Jones wasn't required anymore.

There is no analogy to be drawn with Mr Jones and females!

I read it about 30 years ago. I remember him getting thrown out of his farm and it being colonised by pigs who wear human clothes and live in the Jones house.

Its worth re-reading. I remember it being read to me at primary school and understanding it on one level.

The key part is the relationships between the farm animals. Initially they all work together to remove Mr Jones.

The point at which the pigs wear human clothes and move into the farm house is the point there is a declaration,

'all animals are equal but some animals are more equal than others'

The pigs control the government.

I've long thought that the reporting systems on social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter are fundamentally flawed and allow the harassment or women and minorities when they should be protecting them. Most are automated and can be flooded with fake reports (as in this example) with no human oversight.

Good Medical Practice (2013) says:

65 “You mustmake sure that your conduct justifies your patients’ trust in you and the public’s trust in the profession.”

The use of “you must”, is different to “you should” it is an uppermost/overriding principle and not to mention a duty.

It is important this extends to social media.

71. Talks about how doctors must be honest when writing reports and documents and although this pertains to work it could be argued it extends to social media. Particularly 71.a “you must take reasonable steps to check the information is correct.”

Is there a way to complain to the actual government about this?

It's not fair to have a consultation with only one side of the debate being allowed to speak!

Has Penny Mordaunt not already shown clear bias & prejudiced the outcome with her “transwomen are women” statement? There was some discussion about this & parliamentary process on another thread recently.
