Lesbians react to London Pride

Some very passionate responses from the lesbian community, since the anti-trans protests.

When Jennifer James pushed to sue the labour party, the result was the labour party clarified it's position as self-id for AWS

This has a similar ring to it, as the anti-trans protesters tried to co-opt the lesbian community, there has been a vocal backlash and clarification of support for trans people.

This might be hard to believe, but this actually the thread in which I finally give up on daim's claims to good faith.

Daim’s mask slipped on another thread in FWR earlier today. If I could be bothered I’d go and find the post, but heatwave. It was a “we” statement in a longer post which indicated they had been posting under a false flag for some time. Which will come as no surprise whatsoever to most FWR regulars. 🙄

Pratchet · 08/07/2018 22:17

Kind of hope this thread doesn't disappear now. Women RISE.

bigoldscaredycat · 08/07/2018 22:19

As a woman and particularly as a lesbian, I wonder how deeply entrenched does your lack of self respect have to be, how deep seated does your greed and ambition need to be, to sell out your sisters bravely protesting like this? To dismiss their valid protest as hate? To say that men are women and to say that it’s ok for men to try to bully women into sex?

This to the editor of Diva.

I wonder how women like her and Ruth Hunt sleep at night. They are like the Aunts in the Handmaid’s Tale.

YourMajestyJ · 08/07/2018 22:19

A lesbian is a female homosexual.

Y Daim was straight up TRA at first but then tried to become a sort of 'you know, I see where you're coming from - but' sort of poster. Don't bother going to look. It's time in your life you'll never get back.

WhereDoWeBeginToCovetClarice · 08/07/2018 22:20

Systematically targeting and taking over every meeting, space, business or group which is either for women only, for feminists or lesbians for many years, then using the statements of those very same orgs or groups to validate your position... Hmm

I reckon there's probably a word for that..

daimbars · 08/07/2018 22:21

I think all the troll hunting and 'shove its' speak for themselves.

There isn't a single ounce of reasonable debate left.

It is ironic because GC feminists did have a point with self ID but now after the Pride shenanigans all people will see is unapologetic transphobia.

Ereshkigal · 08/07/2018 22:21

then tried to become a sort of 'you know, I see where you're coming from - but' sort of poster.

Not a hugely convincing enterprise.

Pratchet · 08/07/2018 22:22

But if you ARE looking they go by both Daim and daimbars

Pratchet · 08/07/2018 22:23

Lolol Eresh

LeiaTheSlaya · 08/07/2018 22:23

No shame eh?

Datun · 08/07/2018 22:23

Do you not understand that as soon as one person, just one person, is able to have a platform and demonstrate what lesbians have been subjected to, this relentless, duplicitous spin is going to backfire?

There is ream after ream of evidence showing lesbians being persecuted, targeted and vilified. Simply loads of it!

Blogs, websites, Tweets.

I genuinely think that many people, who view it as anti-trans, simply aren't aware of it. They don't realise the big distinction between transsexuals and transactivists who advocate for the cotton ceiling.

The cotton ceiling is one of the most scandalous and repugnant aspects of the entire ideology. The rank homophobia is another.

The very next time anyone gets to talk to a trans person on the television or radio, a simple question - do you believe that a lesbian is a female homosexual, will bring the entire issue into the open.

If there are magazines who are publically willing to say no I don't, then that's their lookout!

Transactivists spinning this is as anti-trans, doesn't have any legs.

It just doesn't.

The edifice is crumbling. As predicted.

YourMajestyJ · 08/07/2018 22:23

Any natal female lesbians on here get repeatedly asked to define a woman, define a lesbian and probably asked x 1000 if we want to sleep with a lady penis. If we don't reply we are informed we have no right to call ourselves lesbians. Then we get accused of being men.

Any natal lesbian? There is only one type of lesbian, female homosexual.

Any though?

I haven't been asked any of those questions, but then again, perhaps that's because it's obvious I actually am one.

bd67th · 08/07/2018 22:23

@TerfsUp: If they start on estradiol (or dishonestly-obtained oral contraceptives ("borrowed" my arse, you can't give them back, and what's the woman you took them from going to do for pregnancy avoidance?)) early enough (like at Uni) they can have me looking several times to be sure. And a younger woman wouldn't have the experience to spot the clues.

littlbrowndog · 08/07/2018 22:24

Naw they don’t daim

Ur cold cold heart been seen here

Pratchet · 08/07/2018 22:24

Well we don't really wish to debate with homophobia. We just want it to go a long way away for a very long time, along with the homophobes who try to justify it.

“I am so disappointed that a day full of joy and celebration (except for lesbians not wanting to be joyful about their erasure) was hijacked by a small minority of women with the intention of spreading truth hate.

They say trans activism erases lesbians. They say our young people are at risk.

But I am a lesbian, and like the vast majority of women loving women I know, I am not erased by the existence of trans people. I am enriched. Except when being bullied and pressured to accept heterosexual sex. And possibly I have intelligence to realise that things happen outside my personal experience, and I know how to use Google, and possibly I'm in denial of some facts here.

DIVA is unequivocal in its support of trans people. We stand with our trans and non-binary siblings today, tomorrow and for as long as it takes to rid the world of transphobia. As we’ve said before, and we’ll say again, it has no place in DIVA and no place in our community. Absolutely. Homophobia and bullying, threatening, coercing and shaming homosexual women for being homosexual equally has no place in our community and we should be rid of that too.

To these protesters I say simply: you do not speak for me, you do not speak for my friends, you do not speak for our community and you do not speak for DIVA. since we're either lacking major information, or we're in horrible denial, or we're very afraid. Take your pick. Take your truth hate elsewhere.” please, it's too scary to listen to. Cognitive dissonance is a tough thing.

There. Fixed that.

ChiefClerkDrumknott · 08/07/2018 22:28

Natal female lesbians, are speaking up for trans women

Natal females?! Shock But...trans women are women #nodebate
How awfully transphobic of you

Ereshkigal · 08/07/2018 22:31

Floral I hear you Thanks

littlbrowndog · 08/07/2018 22:34

U cool floral. We got u. Have a 🍺

daimbars · 08/07/2018 22:35

Datun we'll just have to wait and see, although I would imagine Diva magazine has its finger on the pulse of happenings in the LGBT community more than a load of straight women on Mumsnet.

UglyCathKidstonBag · 08/07/2018 22:36

Not going to reply to my post eh Daim? Too real for you?

littlbrowndog · 08/07/2018 22:37

Lols daim u assuming am syptraight.

Still same cold heart u got going on there

BeyondRaggydoll · 08/07/2018 22:38

Again with the assumption everyone is heterosexual on Mumsnet. Does that make you heterosexual too then, Daim? After all, you're on Mumsnet...
