I agree but it doesn't mean people don't feel that way. A lot will say it's just "what they are attracted to", and in a way I can kind of understand it (I mostly date caucasians myself, though of course wouldn't rule out anybody else), it's interesting though because I wonder how much of our attractions is rooted to the environment we grew up in. I grew up in Europe in a very white environment and I wonder if my main attraction to caucasian is linked to that, and having grown up with the (low-key enforced idea) that white is "the goal". I have had some interesting chats with girls I have been on dates with about that and it does seem like people have a pattern regarding who they date (most girls who go on dates with me have been almost exclusively, or exclusively in interracial relationship for example).

So I do think our "tastes" and what we are "into" are probably rooted learnt behaviours instead of actual personal tastes and preferences.

Just a few months of increased public awareness later, Pink News couldn't even manage wording to beat it. And I'm sure we all know that they would have if they could have. Public support, never high to begin with, is in a death spiral.

I personally, as a white person, don't think it would be good enough to just accept myself as racist. I would prefer to unpick any hateful thoughts that were in my head.

I'm totally fine with other forms of bias eg a bias against going out with a man, or an overly feminine woman - those don't harm anyone. I feel like racism is a harmful set of ideas for me to go about with, as a (mostly) white person.

I don't think it's the same issue if someone who isn't white has race-based preferences but I would tend to agree that it would probably come from society rather than something innate.

I would not date someone with a penis, but yes I would consider anyone who has a vagina, if I was attracted to them.

Sorry if I annoy you and keep on calling myself whatever I want but do feel free to go in the streets and protest against me, I also happen to refer to myself as 'cis' sometimes, so you might want to get offended about that too and add that to your banners (just an idea) ;)

I think this topic is a tricky one, because most people who have a preference for a certain race, will not consider themselves racists as a lot of them genuinely have no bias against other ethnicities (that they are aware of) in any other aspect of their life. They do not believe black people are an under race or that white people are better than black people, they just don't find themselves attracted to black people and a lot of them will also not be attracted to other features, blond hair for example so they won't think there is any difference between not being into blondes and not being being into "black".

I have to admit though, that even as a person of colour, it is hard for me to actually dissociate and figure out if it's actually racist not to be into black people or if in fact not being into blondes and not being into black is similar.

That's why I don't feel offended or think badly of someone who wouldn't be into me based on my skin color.

So yeah, interesting topic but complicated one too!
