A woman is an adult female human

Of the sex whose reproductive role is to gestate and bear young.

Let's just say this while we still can. Because it's true, and however many people try to make us lie about it, or remain silent, it will always be true.

In times of universal deceit, speaking the truth is a revolutionary act.

It hurts MY feelings to see 'transwomen are women'. It damages MY mental health to see that, it makes ME feel erased and MY identity feel destroyed. I have a voice and I deserve that voice. WE deserve it.

I am Spartacus. A woman is an adult female human. Sex is binary, immutable and defined by reproductive role.

If you report me, or get me banned you shoot the messenger. Because this is true and will always be true. And this day, this day of a lie, I WILL say it.

#Spartacus

Adult human females are women, of course.

If some adult human males are women then this is transphobic against trans men, innit?

I agree with the OP. Nice to hear it said to blatantly.

bd67th · 03/07/2018 13:54

@sarahar, the biological experiences of transwomen are comprised of medical and surgical interventions on a male body. The social experiences are different: no transwoman was raised as a girl with the expectation of puberty and capacity to gestate. Intersex girls are told to expect motherhood by people unaware of their condition, no transwoman is told that.

MistOnTheWater · 03/07/2018 13:54

And oh yeah - if men committing crime is reported as female crime then how do we do statistics?

QuizteamBleakley · 03/07/2018 13:54

@Glitched - my argument (woman = adult female human) is NOTHING like saying that, how ridiculous. I'm all for equal rights for all, safe spaces for people but your idea of changing the definition of woman "slightly" would effectively include men "that have been born in the wrong body".

Can you see the dangers in that? If not, read this [[http://sages.org.uk/publications/sages-factsheet.html]]. I really think you could benefit from understanding it is not 'just' a word that we're trying to protect but what any dilution / altering of the word 'woman' could impact on.

Trans men and and trans women deserve a happy, healthy life but not at the expense of others.

Apollo440 · 03/07/2018 13:54

Can I just add that as someone relatively new to this topic, I would like to know what the definition of a woman is that includes transwomen. It has been stated that the reasons are well known but I have searched this thread and cannot find it (other than the repeated assertion that is is well known). Could someone kindly oblige.

Glitched · 03/07/2018 13:54

I am pointing out your bigotry as you cannot seem to see it.

Trans women are women.

OunceOfFlounce · 03/07/2018 13:54

England = made up concept

Woman = biological reality

FordPrefect42 · 03/07/2018 13:55

Why is it that transgender activists never say “trans men are men”? Why is it always TWAW? 🧐

Also why does it seem that it is only trans women who are fighting to access women only spaces like toilets or refuges?

Are trans women ie. individuals who were AMAB more important in some way? Male privilege maybe? Or am I going completely bananas?

Pratchet · 03/07/2018 13:56

Cis doesn't define women. what are you talking about?

Stop with the racism.

Glitched · 03/07/2018 13:56

Trans men are men.

HogarthlovesSmurfs · 03/07/2018 13:56

It's almost amusing that someone who wields the word "bigot" with such abandon can then, without a glimmer of self awareness, be so breathtakingly racist.

Almost.

Pratchet · 03/07/2018 13:57

No, you're right. Penny Mordaunt made a massive error.

Your arguments are the same as claiming only white people can be English

Confused it isn’t literally nothing at all like claiming only white people can be English. In no way. Really not.

ErrolTheDragon · 03/07/2018 13:57

women that have been born in the wrong body

Because there's already a term which describes women who feel they've been born in the wrong body - transman. Redefinition of 'woman' which attempt to include transwomen exclude transmen. Whether they like it or not, they remain biologically women, and may still be perceived socially as women and it's important that they are not excluded from legal sex-based protections.

Pratchet · 03/07/2018 13:57

Trans men are men. They are transgender adult males, who reject masculinity and believe themselves to be women.

ZibbidooZibbidooZibbidoo · 03/07/2018 13:57

It is literally

Apollo440 · 03/07/2018 13:58

Sorry Glitched, was that comment directed at me. I asked for a definition, is that it?

Glitched · 03/07/2018 13:58

As I said earlier. We all know the arguments on both sides. It's just that we don't agree.

There is a fundamental disagreement that cannot be resolved without making one side deeply unhappy.

ScienceIsTruth · 03/07/2018 13:58

@Smurfalicious, I'm beginning to think that actually we aren't allowed to talk about women, not the real kind anyway.

stillathing · 03/07/2018 13:58

no, cis is about gender identity. it is people who have the same gender identity as their sexed body?

i am not cis because i experience gender as a stereotype forced upon me by the patriarchal society. i don't identify with it - i hate it!

i'm cool if you have a gender identity but don't force me to have one please. and please allow me to continue using the word that describes my sexed body.

DearSergio · 03/07/2018 13:59

I'm normally too scared to post on here ( not very articulate and also confused by new guidelines) but this is horrifying! I've recently been diagnosed with PND and post partum psychosis, mumsnet has been a place of safety, reading other mum's similar experiences have reassured me that I'm not going to be wrenched away from my babies and locked up. I genuinely don't understand how the majority of issues discussed across the whole board are ones that effect XX women, but yet we can't say that we are women? Confused

Pratchet · 03/07/2018 13:59

We all know the arguments on both sides

Can I just say, you don't actually seem to know the argument on your side. If you do, can you post it.
