Although they've taken trans away actually dysphoric transexuals too, so at least it's not specifically directed at women...

Procrastinator1 · 16/07/2018 11:33

V sorry you can't be there 9Prawn. Hope you feel better soon.

daimbars · 16/07/2018 11:47

Get well soon Prawn, that is disappointing Thanks

I'll see the rest of you later.

I have a ticket and will be travelling down by train from London. I'm a bit concerned that I might not receive WPUK's email with details of the venue in time, not being in possession of a smartphone thingy. I'll be the superannuated blonde woman looking in need of a companion at Brighton station around 6.30pm. And probably in need of a stiff drink as well

TheMostBeautifulDogInTheWorld · 16/07/2018 12:21

Bittter

If you get stuck: Brighton library is pretty close to the station (Jubilee library, Jubilee Street, Brighton BN1 1GE) and you will be able to use a computer there. It's open till 7pm on Mondays.

BN1bod · 16/07/2018 13:07

Hi. I'm a serial name changer but been on MN for over a decade. I went to the Hastings WPUK meeting, but missed the pub beforehand as we (car full of 4 ladies haring across E Sx, lol) were running late. I'd love to meet up with fellow MNs before tonight's event. Obviously I can PM you, but appreciate that I appear a stranger. I could PM people and have a chat if that would work? Ta.

PlonitbatPlonit · 16/07/2018 13:24

The email from WPUK to ticket holders says to get in touch with them if you will have difficulties with receiving emails this evening. Can I suggest that anyone who anticipates that they will have such difficulties get in touch as per the email - .... they're hugely resilient and resourceful women putting on all these meetings in difficult circumstances, so I'm sure they will have a plan for exactly that scenario which doesn't involve hanging around the station....

Anyone welcome to pm me re pub meet up - i am a local

BeUpStanding · 16/07/2018 14:56

Thanks iamawoman - have PMed you

Oldstyle · 16/07/2018 15:07

A similar thing happened to a WPUK meeting in Cardiff - just a few hours before the meeting was due to go ahead the venue was contacted and told that WPUK was a hate group and that there would be protests if the event went ahead. I'm ashamed to say I bottled out at that point (was in a bit of a fragile state at the time and couldn't cope with the venom coming in our/my direction). BUT the wonderful WPUK organisers found an alternative venue, the meeting went ahead and friends who went along were inspired and cheered. So this is just to encourage you to be braver than I was. It's so important!

Melamin · 16/07/2018 15:35

Best wishes to everyone going. I hope it passes off peacefully without any more venue harassment after all the hoohar, and that you all have a good time meeting each other, and that it is as inspiring as all the other meetings have been Grin

BN1bod · 16/07/2018 15:37

iamawoman Thank you. I've just sent you a PM Smile

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 16/07/2018 16:52

Thanks for the kind messages, Procrastinator and Daimbars. Missing a feminist meeting is disappointing enough without missing one in Brighton. I love Brighton.

NotTerfNorCis · 16/07/2018 16:54

Wishing you all good luck. It's too far for me to travel but I'll be following over t'internet.

NynaeveSedai · 16/07/2018 16:58

It's sold out with a waiting list and due diligence tells us that the vast majority are not TRAs. Solidarity in numbers!
WPUK take lessons from every event they put on, fear not.

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 16/07/2018 17:03

I've asked WPUK to make sure someone gets my ticket.

BN1bod · 16/07/2018 17:27

Looking forward to see people later! Brighton of all places needs this debate heard.

daimbars · 16/07/2018 17:44

Does anyone know where we're going yet?

I've got my ticket and got the email saying the venue was TBC but haven't had an email saying where the venue is yet.

RogerAllamsFangirl · 16/07/2018 17:52

Suggest you contact the organisers, daim. Obviously, one hopes, please don't anyone share the location on this thread.

dianebrewster · 16/07/2018 17:54

Don't worry - they will have to send them out pretty last minute due to the attempts to stop us uppity women daring to meet and talk about changes to the law that will affect us. Doors don't open until 7pm anyway, so as long as you are in central brighton you'll be able to get to the venue before the 7:30 start. I'm guessing this time they are only releasing the venue pretty close to door opening time.

I'm on the train so see you there!

daimbars · 16/07/2018 17:58

Oh literally just got the email through :)

NotTerfNorCis · 16/07/2018 18:23

The location is out on Twitter, please stay safe guys.
