Can I also just say thanks to those posters who identified me on Twitter but didn't share my ID on here.
With all the hostility towards me on this thread I was very uncomfortable with my family being identified too so thank you.

NotTerfNorCis · 18/07/2018 13:45

Daimbars, transwomen don't have periods, that's a fantasy. It was clear from the individual who described quite dramatic and crippling pains that 'occurred on the 10th of the every month.

NoDykeDoesDick · 18/07/2018 13:49

Daimbars, you outed yourself on Twitter. The fact that you post on here is irrelevant.

AnchorMum · 18/07/2018 13:51

Yep, that is what the trans protesters were asking for outside the venue on Monday. Encouraging allies to support the GRA proposals.

I think it's a very particular sort of support, isn't it Daim - according to Owl on Twitter:
If you're not trans, the GRA reform doesn't affect you. The end.

VulvaOfSteel · 18/07/2018 13:52

With all the hostility towards me on this thread I was very uncomfortable with my family being identified too so thank you.

Hmm

All those elderly women at the forum coming after you? Grin

WhatTheWatersShowedMe · 18/07/2018 13:52

Just hear to stick my tuppence worth in:
I was at the meeting and can attest that daimbars is full of shit. The panelists were respectful and put themselves across brilliantly. There was a heckler but she was annoying most of the audience regardless of what side of the debate they were coming from, and she was asked to leave.
There were younger women there coming from the radical feminist side- I was one of them. There were also a group of younger women who were pro self-ID, who were very impassioned and allowed to put their point across. They did get heckled (especially when one of them used the term "c*s" which pissed off the crowd) and I wish they hadn't because their point of view deserved and needed to be heard.

The meeting was impassioned and heated at points but it wasn't the fucking Nuremberg rally. If women were cheering because a speaker said something like "transwomen are not women" it's because it was a relief to finally hear someone state the fucking obvious in real life.

Ereshkigal · 18/07/2018 13:53

I doubt they signed the petition Daim Grin

NoDykeDoesDick · 18/07/2018 13:55

Daimbars, here is a short extract from one of the links:

"Physiological autogynephilia is arousal to the thought or simulation of female physiological functions. It can include sitting down to urinate, pretending to have menstrual symptoms (taking Midol for imagined cramps, bloating, bleeding, using pads, and even placing tampons into one’s anus), pretending to be pregnant (pillows under maternity clothing, etc.), nursing a baby, and so on."

Now, do you think it's fair that homosexual transsexuals should be lumped in with this type?

TellsEveryoneRealFacts · 18/07/2018 13:56

Can I also just say thanks to those posters who identified me on Twitter but didn't share my ID on here.

Why would we? Even if you are wrong, you are allowed your opinion...

How would you feel if you had been, and your boss had been contacted and told you were a bigot and the letter published online in the hope of shaming them into sacking you?

Just like other women who have opinions?

TheMostBeautifulDogInTheWorld · 18/07/2018 14:01

If women were cheering because a speaker said something like "transwomen are not women" it's because it was a relief to finally hear someone state the fucking obvious

And because it was in the context of the speaker making the point that this was her political response to the political statement of the reverse. (I think R0wantrees quoted the speaker's exact words earlier in the thread, but I haven't got good enough at the MN search utility to find it!)

CertainHalfDesertedStreets · 18/07/2018 14:02

I think this is a mummy thing on reflection.

It's really obvious when men do it but I think it's rarer with women. But the whole 'you're witches!' ('I hate you!'), followed by the attempts to make peace with the ingratiating 'lol's and 'thanks for not outing me here' ('sorry mum') and the deliberate goadiness in things like the security guard story ('I'm going out with a boy with a car and there's nothing you can do about it!')

It's a mummy thing.

Quite common when you have small children - getting all het up about the way you were parented and finding a bunch of women on the Internet to hate about it all

R0wantrees · 18/07/2018 14:16

(I think R0wantrees quoted the speaker's exact words earlier in the thread, but I haven't got good enough at the MN search utility to find it!)

I linked (as other posters also did) to Kathleen Stock's notes for her talk and her tweet referencing this.

Who gives a flying fuck? People do all sorts of weird things in the privacy of their own homes.

sausagebap · 18/07/2018 14:27

yes, but as unpleasant as furries and adult babies are, they don’t tend to get an entire class of people redefined to accommodate their fetish.

daimbars · 18/07/2018 14:29

Careful sausagebap you're making the transphobia too obvious - at least try and be subtle about it.

NynaeveSedai · 18/07/2018 14:34

Yep, that is what the trans protesters were asking for outside the venue on Monday. Encouraging allies to support the GRA proposals

Disingenuous bullshit. You're trying to say the transactivists protesting the meeting welcome consultation about the GRA whilst trying to stop women from meeting to discuss that very consultation and the implications of the thing we are being consulted on. How stupid do you think we are?

NoDykeDoesDick · 18/07/2018 14:34

Daimbars, please go back and read the links I posted, it gives you the bigger picture of autogynephiles and shows that they are a threat to young transsexuals.

NynaeveSedai · 18/07/2018 14:35

Acknowledging autogynephilia and the exhibitionist elements of that paraphilia is NOT transphobic. I will go to the wall for the right to say that.

daimbars · 18/07/2018 14:39

No thanks, I'm checking out again for the day. Had some distressing news in RL yesterday and my mental health isn't up to battling FWR today.

sausagebap · 18/07/2018 14:43

well i can only hope the men you so vociferously defend in the name of their mental health would do the same for you.

enjoy icing your cake!

CertainHalfDesertedStreets · 18/07/2018 14:57

Cake is sadly uniced. The icer is giving marks out of ten on the trans traffic thread. Won't somebody ice the fucking cake?

LangCleg · 18/07/2018 15:59

in the privacy of their own homes

I think the bone(r) of contention is doing these things in single sex spaces.

NoDykeDoesDick · 18/07/2018 16:15

OK Daimbars, the fact that you have ignored the problem of transsexuals being associated with autogynephiles, and the threat that they pose to young transsexuals, tells me that this isn't about trans rights for you, this is about men's rights.

You are an MRA, not a TRA.

I'm sorry about your bad news, I hope some time out puts you in a better place mentally, go well.

Poppyred85 · 18/07/2018 16:28

and you will be regarded as 'difficult' from then on and treated accordingly so your boundaries may well mean that you're not taken as seriously, unhelpful when women are already not taken as seriously as men when it comes to medical things
Sorry I’m pages behind but just got to this bit. This should not be happening (please note I’m not saying it doesn’t, but that it shouldn’t). If you attended an appointment and then when you got there declined to see the person you’d been given there would likely be an entry in your notes from that time to say you declined to see X so were re-booked but there should be no blanket statement regarding this on your notes that comes up when anyone goes into your notes to book an appointment or to see you without your express wish that this is the case. For example, I have some patients whose notes will say “always book smear test with a doctor” or “patient does not speak English, book translator.” But these should be things that are important to the care you are given, not when you have declined a particular member of staff unless you have asked that you aren’t booked in with a certain person. Any practice essentially putting a black mark on a patient’s records would find themselves in serious trouble.
