Why are trans things discussed in Feminism section not a separate topic or have I missed something?

Slightly confused. Apologies for any unintended offence.

Why don't transactivists argue their case on men's boards/Twitter feeds, instead of bullying women?

thebewilderness · 24/06/2018 03:26

I could be wrong but as I understand it women oppress men by having something men want and refusing to share.

Agrona · 24/06/2018 03:30

"Biological Elitism"????

Hilarious!

Females, women, the ones who have been oppressed for our biology for centuries are elitists? Because of our biology.

HA!

Pratchet · 24/06/2018 03:39

When FWR is destroyed there will simply be a move to the next target. LGB has gone, Michfest has gone, Anarchist Book fair, Newham Ladies' College, innumerable social media lesbian and women's groups, the Suffragettes, so many losses.

Pratchet · 24/06/2018 03:41

Ah, how could I forget the Fawcett Society and the WEP. After us, it will be the Soroptimists.

MrsTerryPratchett · 24/06/2018 04:11

How can you fight for women's rights when you can't define 'women'?

Agrona · 24/06/2018 05:05

Sorry, my last comment was rude and abrasive due to anger.

AnotherQuoll · 24/06/2018 05:27

There's a quote somewhere, about how the way men hate women is different from the way women hate men; noting that women who hate men do their best to avoid them, whereas men who hate women, instead of just keeping away from us, deliberately hunt us down, invade our spaces, stalk and follow us around pestering and/or attacking us.

TransplantsArePlants · 24/06/2018 06:25

Damn my elitist problematic Uterus

Damn my highbrow night sweats

Damn my condescending ovaries

thebewilderness · 24/06/2018 06:32

Pretty much DARVO all the way down, innit?

Baroquehavoc · 24/06/2018 08:45

biological elitism: when female people recognise that male people rape and sexually assault female people and have the audacity to try to stop it happening.

TransplantsArePlants · 24/06/2018 08:47

Baroque

Yes.

I'd laugh at that phrase if it weren't so annoying.

UpstartCrow · 24/06/2018 08:53

"Biological Elitism".
Black Lives Matter - are they "Biological Elitists" now?

AngryAttackKittens · 24/06/2018 08:57

Next person who needs to namechange should call herself ExclusionaryUterus.

TerfsUp · 24/06/2018 08:57

"Biological elitism"! Haahaha. What a stupid term.

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 24/06/2018 09:03

Biological elitism? How dare reality distinguish between the sexes! Shocking. Hmm Being female isn't some exclusive club men can join if they bully women hard enough.

AngryAttackKittens · 24/06/2018 09:06

It's like they knew that if they said "Nazi" they'd immediately be mocked for Godwinning, so "biological elitist" was the next best thing they could come up with.

To normal reasonable humans it sounds like you're describing a group of people who'll only socialize with professional athletes who part-time as catwalk models and plan to become physics professors once their athletic careers are finished.

LangCleg · 24/06/2018 09:07

When FWR is destroyed there will simply be a move to the next target.

Yes. There is no actual interest in Mumsnet, feminism, or being part of the Mumsnet feminist community. The aim is to destroy the Mumsnet feminist community, then leave Mumsnet in order to obliterate any other women's gathering that dares to be gender critical.

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 24/06/2018 09:09

Pearly, trans ideology poses the most significant threat to the rights, opportunities and safety of women and girls in decades. We're feminists so these issues are central to us.

Women's sports, prisons, hospital wards, all women shortlists - all single sex spaces are threatened. That's why we care.

BeUpStanding · 24/06/2018 09:14

biological elitism???!!!

Bwhahahahahahahaha!

Oh that is hilarious. My face hurts from laughing.

In response to the OP, there has been a long running debate about whether trans issues should have it's own topic, and the consensus decision is no. Have a look in Site Stuff as I'm sure there are threads their detailing the various arguments.

Popchyk · 24/06/2018 09:23

"The aim is to destroy the Mumsnet feminist community, then leave Mumsnet in order to obliterate any other women's gathering that dares to be gender critical".

I don't think they'll leave if they destroy FWR, Lang. They'll be onto Pregnancy and Relationships and Chat in order to root out wrongthink.

Mumsnet is a mainstream platform with considerable political clout. Of course they'll try to leverage that. They will want Mumsnet to partner with Stonewall and Mermaids. Of course they'd need Mumsnet to change its name in order to be more inclusive. But that's easy enough. It is just a name and MNHQ have been clear that women should be kind to men who tell them what language they are allowed to use to describe themselves.

TeenTimesTwo · 24/06/2018 09:31

@Pratchet Newham Ladies' College

Are you sure you don't mean Murray Edwards previously Newhall?
If you do mean Newnham, can you post a link or PM me one?

OP. I think it is relatively simple. If all discussions of trans and self-id had to be on a trans board than large swathes of people wouldn't realise that self-id potentially impacts on the safety and rights of women. They would assume self-id is 'just' a 'trans' issue when it is very much a 'women's issue' as well.

Snappity · 24/06/2018 09:36

If there's no biological elitism then nobody will say that trans women's biology isn't good enough for them to be accepted as women

Pratchet · 24/06/2018 09:40

Sorry snappity can you explain what you mean when you say 'woman' because we need to have the same meaning for a word in a conversation.
