(Oh, sorry. I misread - I meant the Twitter policy, not the MN policy.)

@mumsnet: could you please comment on LaSqrrl's question for reasons of consistency? Thank you.

TerfsUp · 09/06/2018 21:45

I would like to know MN policy on this, for sake of consistency.

EmpressOfSpartacus · 09/06/2018 21:47

It will be a disgrace if he (or any male person) is sent to a womens prison.

Google Tara Hudson & Jessica Winfield.

WellThisIsShit · 09/06/2018 21:48

Oh God.

Does the transgender movement actually want to be in any way associated with this child murderer and rapist?

I’m just not very interested in his rights and look on his efforts to muscle into the transgender movement as a strategy to cash in on it in order to further his own ends, which are far from savoury.

I’d be seeking to distance myself from this child murderer and his machinations if I were any part of the movement, so I didn’t have it sullied and dragged through the mud by him. Or her. Whatever the pronoun, it doesn’t stop them from having murdered two innocent children in cold blood, and I understand also having raped women before this.

thebewilderness · 09/06/2018 21:51

MNHQ have said that they enforce the gender reassignment aspect of the EA by the honor system. If they say they are gender reassigned then they should be addressed by the opposite sex pronouns.
I paraphrase.

TerfsUp · 09/06/2018 21:51

Does the transgender movement actually want to be in any way associated with this child murderer and rapist?

In all fairness, the issue of whether or not Huntley is actually changing gender needs to be clarified. Until I see something official - and not just a rumour - I am going to treat it as nonsense.

TerfsUp · 09/06/2018 21:53

Sorry - EA? Right now all that I can think is estate agent. Or do you
mean Equality Act? Sorry to be dim!

LaSqrrl · 09/06/2018 21:54

I misread - I meant the Twitter policy, not the MN policy
Applicable to both platforms Lang. Doesn't really matter how you read it, it's nuts either way.

LaSqrrl · 09/06/2018 21:57

What about the non-binary/genderqueers and the part-time cross-dressers? Like, you could type a comment one day, and be correctly pronouning - but their change of gender/appearance the next day would make the earlier comment a 'misgender'. MN could end up even more swiss-cheesy. Hmm

TerfsUp · 09/06/2018 22:00

Again, I would like see MN comment on this, LaSqrrl.

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 09/06/2018 22:05

Why would IH be in solidarity confinement unless he is a danger to other inmates and has attacked or threatened to

If he moves he shall feel far safer in a women’s prison than a mans where he will feel fear much of the time

Which is the punishment he deserves

fuzzkill · 09/06/2018 22:09

I would treat the original tweet with a giant pinch of salt BUT it does highlight two of the main issues that always get lost in the bunfighting:

1 - it's not [necessarily] 'transgender' people that ppl are worried about abusing self-id but 'cis' males. To deny that cis males have the potential to lie about their identity to harm women/girls is bizarre.

2 - the violent crime act of misgendering /deadnaming becomes a bit of a joke when you have to speculate (as on this thread) as to how someone identifies at a given time. Surely it's ruder to make such assumptions than to use a name/gender that someone actually did have at one point?

Destinysdaughter · 09/06/2018 22:11

This is beyond sick if it's true. I bloody hope the DM picks up,on this as it would surely peak the whole country!

Misericord · 09/06/2018 22:15

Pretty sure it isn’t true....no reports he is considering transitioning or IDing formally as female.

Misericord · 09/06/2018 22:17

TerfsUp what question?

TerfsUp · 09/06/2018 22:22

About misgendering.

MinesaBottle · 09/06/2018 22:26

Xyr Coups blames Huntley's crime on 'dysphoric rage'. This is a foul misappropriation of the pain people with actual dysphotria go through, not to mention total and utter disregard for HIS victims.

MinesaBottle · 09/06/2018 22:28

*Dysphoria. Gah!

Gacapa · 09/06/2018 22:51

I absolutely cannot disclose how I know this. But I have been told from who I consider to be reliable sources that not only does he now identify as a woman, there have been official channels of discussion opened regarding him being moved to a woman's estate.

I'd be very surprised if these sources were operating on rumours.

Pratchet · 09/06/2018 22:53

Oh my God

Pratchet · 09/06/2018 22:53

Thanks Gacapa: your heart must be in your mouth posting that.

CristalTipps · 09/06/2018 22:54

So as far as these people are concerned, a woman murdered Jessica and Holly?

Let's face it, why wouldn't a violent rapist or murderer self ID? It means going from being reviled and cast out to having an instant support group (primarily made up of keen and sympathetic young women...)

MinesaBottle · 09/06/2018 22:55

Bloody hell Gacapa.

Pratchet · 09/06/2018 22:55

Why would transactivists support this whole Self ID is out for consultation?
