Where do we draw the trans line....?

Really interesting reading all the Daily Mail comments on latest Man Friday article.... most seemed quite happy with the idea of transsexuals using women's facilities, but no transwomen with dangly bits.

This used to be my position - and may still be so... but I am really concerned the more I read about certain transsexuals (the previously macho late-transitioning type).... those with rampant AGP which leads them to fetishise women's bodies and being in women's spaces in a very mansplainy way.... I feel very squeamish about sharing space with them.... and was deeply shocked by learning that some comb bins for used tampons and pads and wear them to "feel more like a woman" and then celebrate and share this online with other fetishists.....

My suspicion is that for the sake of what one might see as the transsexuals we have long shared space with, out of courtesy and respect, that yes it is okay for them to be in some women's spaces .... But my concern is that with TRAs being so active and the transgender movement steamrollering ahead, that more of the aggressive AGP type are going to feel liberated to come out of the closet and into our spaces....and the balance will shift

I know this is just academic - given that focussing on No Self-Id is our priority - but would be very interested in hearing what other's think as I try to clarify my own position

My apoloigies for the decapitation, LangCleg.

Would that be considered literary violence? Grin

Ladies, are you currently doing ladies things? If not why not? Have you baked recently? Is there not laundry to do?

I've just stuck some food in the oven. Not sure if that's lady things though , cos Gordon Ramsey and the rest.

Now I'm just confused.

NaturalBornWoman · 05/06/2018 18:45

I'm definitely doing manly things, I just bashed the hell out of two pork steaks with a rolling pin. Then again I also delicately prepped some dainty asparagus spears....Confused maybe I'm non binary?

spontaneousgiventime · 05/06/2018 19:12

I had asparagus spears for dinner too. With a lovely manly hunk of lamb steak.

NaturalBornWoman · 05/06/2018 19:24

Lovely Spontaneous, we had Jerseys with ours. Delish.

spontaneousgiventime · 05/06/2018 19:35

NaturalBornWoman I had a ton of veg. I can't eat simple carbs due to an autoimmune condition and potato's set me off. Love asparagus and eat loads of it, hate it make your wee smell funny though Grin

NaturalBornWoman · 05/06/2018 19:41

That's interesting spontaneous I have ankylosing spondylitis and psoriatic arthritis and I try to watch the diet. I'm having a hard time right now so maybe I should lay off the spuds too.

You might try soaking the cut up tates in water for an hour or so prior to cooking. That is what they suggested to me when I was on dialysis.

spontaneousgiventime · 05/06/2018 19:47

NaturalBornWoman Try cutting out simple carbs and replacing with complex instead. I can't eat pots, bread, white rice pasta or wheat. I can manage a small amount of wholewheat rice though. I can also cope with the carbs in all veg and fruit, but one biscuit/piece of cake etc and that's me poorly. It's just a matter of trial and error I think. I was diagnosed some years ago so have had a long time to work out what's right for me. Good luck Flowers

LangCleg · 05/06/2018 19:52

Would that be considered literary violence?

LOL! Yes. Victorian novels complete with delicate fainting.

TerfsUp · 05/06/2018 19:55

What's all this talk about library violence? Libraries should be peaceful places.

Sheesh. Kids nowadays.

you would think feminists I stress of protesting at a pool and claiming they are male and tying up police resources and just looking silly that they would have put their energy in to far less ironic things

I don’t think it was the feminists who decided to tie up police time, it was the men who called the police because they objected to the presence of other-sex bodies in their single sex space. And rightly so. Sadly the same situation in reverse was not taken anywhere near as seriously, hence the stunt, which has served its purpose well and brought the issue to the attention on the public - we love you ManFriday!

As for your inflammatory washing up/taking kids to the park comment, you've shown your hand. We see you.

I wonder why it's only us Northern girls that had to wear navy knickers? I call that discrimination.

I wore navy knickers & a little navy pleated skirt in Essex, but I liked hockey better than netball.

R0wantrees · 06/06/2018 12:58

it was the men who called the police because they objected to the presence of other-sex bodies in their single sex space

(extract re #ManFriday & Hampstead Heath Pools)
"We're clearly not men, but we've just been allowed in by Hampstead's own policy,' Mrs Desir said. 'Women's safeguarding has gone out the window.'

Hannah Clarke, 39, who also attended the protest yesterday, said: 'I would hate to think that I had upset anybody here today, but this is the point of a protest. We want to keep single-sex places single-sex and that was the aim of today. And clearly it's not just women that want them to stay single-sex, is it?'

There was widespread anger among the male swimmers at the pond. Peter John, 81, said he thought the invasion by the women was 'ridiculous' and urged the them to use the pond for female swimmers."
