Lily Madigan - to celebrate 300 women leaving LP with a party

LaSqrrl · 13/05/2018 00:49

The facebook event now seems removed, but Feminist Current does have the screenshot before it disappeared.

Constituency Labour Party Women’s Officer for Rochester and Strood, Lily Madigan, a trans-identified male, plans to host a party to celebrate women leaving the Labour Party in protest of Labour’s policy allowing men to self-identify their way onto all women candidate shortlists.

(Sorry if this one has been posted before, I looked, but could not see a matching thread)

I am posting this to illustrate that TRAs do not want to join 'Class Woman', but to take over 'Class Woman' and throw out the existing inhabitants, then celebrate their victory over women (eg 'enjoy your erasure'). This is why 'we cannot get along' and have zero in common with them.

Another swiss cheese thread Hmm
I was going to go over the site stuff forum, and request that mods copy the 'offending' message to PM, and give proper reasons for deletion ('transphobia' as 'reason' doesn't cut it).

A post I made much earlier in this thread was deleted. I have no idea why, or what basis, as I have genuinely attempted to adhere to their 'Talk Guidelines'. It is not exactly helpful when they delete stuff like that, and you have no idea why, particularly when moderation seems inconsistent.

I started a thread a couple of days ago linking a satirical blog post about Genderquake. The whole thread disappeared and noone explained why that I saw, there was no warning. It just said "not in the spirit" when I tried to look at it. It's all a bit sinister imo.

ToeToToe · 15/05/2018 22:05

That genderquake blog was very funny - both DH and I thought it was great.

It was moaned about on twitter (yawn). But we saw it (ha!) so thank you Joan Grin

whyaresquishiesnotsquishy · 15/05/2018 22:07

Joan please could you PM my the satirical blog about genderquake? I'd love to read it! (That's allowed surely!)

JoanSummers · 15/05/2018 22:09

Oh I didn't see the twitter moaning. Maybe that's why it disappeared. It seems like some moderation decisions are being based on twitter reactions but who really knows.

JoanSummers · 15/05/2018 22:14

Done squishies, but the whole blog is vwry funny and worth a look topdyke.wordpress.com

I assume linking a whole blog isn't illegal but it's run by a lesbian - a real one not a male who identifies as one - so who knows. I heard they're all witches on twitter and you know what they say about smoke and fire.

AssignedPuuurfectAtBirth · 15/05/2018 22:29

*Joan

It was deleted because some people were complaining about a comment re Caityln Jenner was ageist.

whyaresquishiesnotsquishy · 15/05/2018 22:31

JoanSummers ha, that's brilliant, thanks :)

AnotherQuoll · 15/05/2018 22:32

Seems my comment was deleted for "deliberately" using the correct ("non-preferred") pronouns of a sexist who calls us "cis" and "trash". As if I was going out of my way, rather than just speaking normally, in everyday, standard English. As if the alternative, lying about that person's sex (or hiding it) and a lifetime of speaking ordinary English; using "she" for females and "he" for males, would be something other than "deliberate". Like it's utterly normal and doesn't actually require me to go out of my way have to mangle language, or give me cognitive dissonance to pretend someone isn't the sex we all know them to be.

I "deliberately" didn't lie. Alrighty then...

Tiredemma · 15/05/2018 22:34

I'm 40 and have voted Labour since 18. I can't vote for them again. This is just ridiculous.

AssignedPuuurfectAtBirth · 15/05/2018 22:34

Jehova! Jehova!

JoanSummers · 15/05/2018 22:41

Ah thanks AssignedPurrrfect. That seemed like a derail to me. I didn't get any message about it at all. Wondering why they didn't just delete the messages that upset them.

I don't think Jenner would give a shit tbh. Lives in Y's (ha!) own world which is a bazillion miles from any of ours.

JoanSummers · 15/05/2018 22:43

My posts 'misgendering' Ian Huntley are still up. Now that's a minefield, but it isn't ours!

ToeToToe · 15/05/2018 22:45

Assigned - that clip is perfect in so many ways.

LaSqrrl · 15/05/2018 22:50

It seems like some moderation decisions are being based on twitter reactions but who really knows.

LOL, do we have to go over to twitter to find our deleted comments? All a bit bizarre - if they still stand over there, and get blitzed here.

WTFuckery.

Toe

It is.

I think we should adopt it for the crime of misgendering. Between that and the 'Loretta' sketch, The Life of Brian was rather phophetic

ToeToToe · 15/05/2018 23:00

Bloody hell, yes. It should be posted that every time there's a deletion for correct gendering of a person.

"Blasphemy!"

JoanSummers · 15/05/2018 23:04

I'm wondering if we should continue as @terfulike started on page 6. Single posts naming individual male people as he. So we can see who is on the special list of enforced lady pronouns, and who is not. If we keep a list it will be much easier to be good girls rather than mean girls.

Waddlelikeapenguin · 15/05/2018 23:04

A thread in AIBU asking if we should be correctly sexing Huntley would be erm... colourful Grin

JoanSummers · 15/05/2018 23:05

I'm not brave enough to go into aibu.. !

Waddlelikeapenguin · 15/05/2018 23:09

Haha, i went in there last week by accident & backed out quickly - people were so mean to each other!

JoanSummers · 15/05/2018 23:10

It is scary in there!

LaSqrrl · 15/05/2018 23:29

This whole 'preferred pronoun' thing is rather silly, especially with the 'gender fluid' under the trans umbrella. There is no editing of posts here, so a pronoun used one day, is misgendering® the next!

OP posts:
LaSqrrl · 15/05/2018 23:32

Oh, and proposed 'workaround' of using 'they' is also incorrect (according to trans), they want, and only want 'she'. So in effect, the workaround is also 'misgendering'. Hmm
