Oh joy. Channel 4.

Gender season?

I hope they begin by defining the word... something tells me they won't.

IamNotDarling · 04/05/2018 16:24

Hang on, hang on. Buzzfeed are misrepresenting what will happen here. They’ve booked a meeting room. Some MPs will turn up. It’s not an address to Parliament.

boatyardblues · 04/05/2018 16:29

Given that the talk is also focussing on diversity and homophobia, wouldn’t it be great if Linda Bellos also had the opportunity to speak at the event?

LangCleg · 04/05/2018 16:31

It's the Channel 4 Diversity lecture. The two previous, Riz Ahmed and Idris Elba, have been very well attended and reported. (Riz's was particularly good and is on YouTube if anyone's interested). The choice of Jenner looks like a piece of trolling in comparison. I can't imagine what C4 were thinking.

Amalfimamma · 04/05/2018 16:31

Ffs. Having Jenner speak about diversity in the Uk is like having peppa pig speak to. Parliament about vegan rights.

UpstartCrow · 04/05/2018 16:32

@SpareRibFem the second one, where the children were creeped out enough to set a trap.

Opheliah · 04/05/2018 16:34

Upstart I didn't but maybe you misgendered. It's easy to do without realising.

Opheliah · 04/05/2018 16:35

Lol I didn't. Miss perfect.

I meant I didn't see (your message)

numberseven · 04/05/2018 16:35

the second one, where the children were creeped out enough to set a trap.

Poor kids. Must've been awful seeing your dad do that on camera.

Perhaps we could send someone to speak to Senate? Any ideas?

picklemepopcorn · 04/05/2018 16:45

Maybe Riz Ahmed and Idris Elba would care about this, and consider becoming involved?

They’ve booked a meeting room.
Important to recognise that the ability to do this enabled the 'We Need to Talk' meeting to go ahead after Millwall cancelled their booking.

I saw a great Ricky Gervais sketch about the father of the Jenner family’s driving history....
Totally unrelated to this thread of course.

nauticant · 04/05/2018 18:25

What. The. Fuck. is this Ian Katz "revelation" supposed to mean? Not just on this thread but on another.

Justine being married to Ian Katz has been known for, like, forever. His high profile media career likewise.

If one deliberately set out to alienate Justine, whose support we need, making content-free smears about her family members has got to be a sure-fire winning approach.

picklemepopcorn · 04/05/2018 18:52

I think it's just an awareness that he now has a specific and powerful media role. If Channel 4 continues to push a trans agenda, while MN continues to allow free speech, then that is interesting. That's all.

WhollyFather · 04/05/2018 20:06

IamNotDarling is correct, Jenner is speaking in the House of Commons not to Parliament at a PC beano organised by Channel 4.

I imagine a few MPs will turn up. The usual suspects.

OvaHere · 05/05/2018 16:47

Christ! The doublethink going on in this twitter thread Hmm

KatherinaMinola · 05/05/2018 16:54

Yes, bizarre. Lily Madigan has started a petition to stop Jenner speaking to parliament.

picklemepopcorn · 05/05/2018 16:57

Brain ache..

OP posts:
picklemepopcorn · 05/05/2018 17:01

On the other hand, Jenner is clear,y not a popular choice among trans people either. So maybe it's a win...

OP posts:
Pratchet · 05/05/2018 17:01

Jenner is on record saying he knows he's not a woman.

Pratchet · 05/05/2018 17:03

Every single person listening to Jenner will know that no one can change sex. Yet we all have to sit there and pretend. It's ludicrous.
