Ive done a little browsing in the feminism section and i admit its intriguing, please forgive my ignorance as i dont know alot about this all.

I just want to start by saying i was raised to respect everyone and i truly do, my view on equality is simply if some one, man or woman is good enough to do the specific job they aspire for then they have every right to get said job/goal, again if this is slight ignorance forgive me, i post this topic because i would like to learn and be less ignorant, love me some knowledge.. :)

So i suppose my question is broad and depends on the individual person's view, but what is the over reaching/ultimate goal of feminism ? or what does it mean to you personally ? and please, dont think im trolling or anything i genuinely want to learn a thing or two, thanks :)

Who is the 10th reindeer

Olive, of course.

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 03/05/2018 23:17

errol

Apparently

The male reindeers lose their antlers in the winter and the females in the spring

I only read one article though

LangCleg · 03/05/2018 23:17

Sorry. I'm Fish Finger Fixated today. Will a bit of alliteration do it for you?!

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 03/05/2018 23:17

perfectly

Nice one Grin

Bi11yOneMate · 03/05/2018 23:18

My first post on here was some jumbled mess about how conflicted I was supportingy newly "out" transgender sibling. I half got sympathetic responses helping me to clarify my thoughts and half having a face slap to bring me to my senses Grin

lang Hmm

Ive been singing that song for ages trying to work out where the fish fingers come into it

Bi11yOneMate · 03/05/2018 23:20

(to clarify so I don't sound horrible my sibling went full on TRA hyper sexual out-womaning the women)

LangCleg · 03/05/2018 23:20

Sorry Rufus. I'm several glasses of wine into the evening!

thebewilderness · 03/05/2018 23:24

Rufus is most assuredly a dear, it is the other part there are rumors about.
Now that we have finally reached the silly stage I have no intention of being dragged back into the debate over the 5th rule of misogyny: Women and Feminism must be useful to men or they are worthless.

ErrolTheDragon · 03/05/2018 23:26

Rufus - you are of course correct. I've just read some nice reindeer facts. Apparently 'It’s not always easy to tell the sex of a reindeer.'. And 'Reindeer are ideally designed for life in hostile, cold environments.' ...ah, perfect for FWR. And they're the only mammal that can see ultraviolet light (useful for spotting, amid the snowy wastes, white fur and urine. handy. )

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 03/05/2018 23:26

Oh god i thought i quashed those rumours!!!

powershowerforanhour · 03/05/2018 23:26

Hi PleaseCustomise. The ultimate goal of feminism to me would be all women considered to be, and treated as, complete human beings and not some sort of subset of humanity/ walkon bit parts in The Man Show that the world feels like a lot of the time. Not having women murdered by the score, raped in their thousands and physically abused in their millions by men in this country every year (×mindboggling number = the worldwide problem) would be a lovely start.

What do you think of that reading list on the first page? Which one do you plan to start with? Outrageous Acts and Everyday Rebellions by Gloria Steinem is also good. And- though not a feminist text as such- Sylvia Plath's The Bell Jar is an interesting account of a certain period in the author's life with some thoughts that chime with feminism.

PerfectlyDone · 03/05/2018 23:26

Are there any rules of feminisms that will stop my dog from farting while lying right next to me? Envy

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 03/05/2018 23:28

Oooh interesting errol

A polar bears fur isnt white, its transparent

Off to bed now...goodnight all

BesmirchingMotherhood · 03/05/2018 23:28

See, it’s that kind of info about all reindeers having antlers that you just wouldn’t get in other feminist discussions.

I’ve been educated. (Not like the OP. He’s been EDUCATED.)

BitPartinTheManShow · 03/05/2018 23:31

Thread-inspired name change!

leggere · 03/05/2018 23:47

The worst one I saw on the feminist boards was "all men are rapists!" What a fucking insult to women like myself who are married to decent men! This is NOT feminism, it's bullying, vitriolic and embarrassing to real feminists. Last week I said the most I'd ever been hurt was by other women (and this was after I'd divulged that I've been raped, sexually and verbally abused by men in the past) Iknow quite a few real feminists and they are not man haters and are perfectly capable of "giving their time" to answer questions of both men and women. Feminist boards on mn are giving the rest of us a bad name. Now why would certain posters want to do that?

BesmirchingMotherhood · 04/05/2018 00:02

Dunno leggere. You tell us.

(Also, I don’t hate men.)

Hello all, man here! am i welcome to talk and learn a bit about stuff ?
ToeToToe · 04/05/2018 00:14

Now now, leggere. Sit down. That's it. Breeeeaaaaathe. Slow calming breath.

Now, I don't want to alarm you - but the feminazi polizei are in your area tonight - and your husband's name in on the list. They're after all the decent men. Makes the feminists look bad, you see - how can we start our world domination of mankind if there are a few nice ones knocking around?? I suggest hiding him in the cellar.

Don't thank me, just get him in the cellar.

Hi OP Smile

No time tonight to explain what feminism is to me (caring duties plus a full time job to attend to tomorrow so I need my sleep) but I'm place-marking for tomorrow.

Just a quick tip, a thread title with "Hello all, man here!" is never going to go down well in Feminist Chat. I think you may have worked that one out already though Smile

UpstartCrow · 04/05/2018 00:33

I saw Goody @thebewilderness conversing with a Demon thyt hadde the Aspect of a Manne!

leggere · 04/05/2018 00:39

When I said the most I'd been hurt was by other women I meant to add that the response was 'shocking to find that women can behave like people'. Utterly nonsensical response when I was obviously trying to show that some women can be even worse than men. I repeat, (in my opinion) there are TRA's on mn feminists boards deliberately preventing men from joining in, thereby sabotaging the fem boards. Incidentally, I've never toe sucked, crept around, worded my entrance in the "required" fashion, I've just come straight on. What a crock of old shite. There are one or two instigators in all this crap and the rest join in like sheeple. It's a crying shame, this could be a brilliant place for both women and men for debate. I've said a number of times that I would like to hear what the man has to say and either been completely ignored or told what the man is doing "wrong". In this thread posters could have explained to the OP what is happening at the moment with the trans issue and the danger it poses to women and girls, but oh no, just tell him he's phrased his op wrongly and that he needs to read books. Another opportunity missed!
