Ive done a little browsing in the feminism section and i admit its intriguing, please forgive my ignorance as i dont know alot about this all.

I just want to start by saying i was raised to respect everyone and i truly do, my view on equality is simply if some one, man or woman is good enough to do the specific job they aspire for then they have every right to get said job/goal, again if this is slight ignorance forgive me, i post this topic because i would like to learn and be less ignorant, love me some knowledge.. :)

So i suppose my question is broad and depends on the individual person's view, but what is the over reaching/ultimate goal of feminism ? or what does it mean to you personally ? and please, dont think im trolling or anything i genuinely want to learn a thing or two, thanks :)

Omg he is hardly "demanding" an education from us all, if it were a female op who didn't know much about feminism and asked the same question, she would not be met with these answers, and that in itself is inequality! Those who are offended by this post come across as man haters.

Honestly it seems like some want to attack him simply because he was born a man.

OP for me personally, feminism is about 3 things:

1. Not being at a disadvantage because I happen to be a woman - so pay, hobbies etc shouldn't be different as I am a woman.

2. To not be treated as just a sexual being. I say just, because obviously sometimes I choose to be a sexual being. My choice, not a mans. A man doesn't have to fear walking alone at night. A man doesn't have to worry if his top is too low or if he's coming across too flirty in case someone does something to them and claims they were asking for it.

3. Not having my opinions valued less than a mans. Or for a varied opinion on behaviour of man vs woman. Man sleeps with 10 woman? Lucky. Woman sleeps with 10 men? Slut. Man chooses to work abroad for 2 weeks when has young child - great provider. Mother does? She doesn't love her child enough.

I feel we get nowhere by saying no men, don't support feminism. It's the few respectful, genuine men who want to adjust their behaviour that we should embrace, not vilify because many other men are vile.

I bet she's not being paid as much as that fucking full-of-himself Rudolph!

I am more than twice the age the OP posted he was.
I have no idea whether he was genuine, or a troll, or an MRA, but I am quite sure there are lots of young men like him out there: felling all right on for feeling the womenfolk should be allowed some more rights and all that.

My 15yo DS has found it quite easy to find all sorts of feminist resources online (some of which he found quite alarming, some so self-explanatory and obvious truths he could not believe they were necessary), so I don't think it's unreasonable to point out to an adult to go educate himself a tiny bit.
I like the poster upthread (way, waaaaaaay upthread) who said 'You don't ask a doctor to explain about all of medicine or a lawyer about The law", you have specific questions.

Oh and I am disabled. If someone asked nicely I'd explain what I want as a disabled person. Why wouldn't I? If I'm given respect, I'm not going to poo poo about how they could've asked better.

I've not read most of the posts since teatime, but is there anyone whose first post on FWR didn't result in them having their arse handed to them? (Mine was an embarrassingly naive bit of whataboutery or suchlike IIRC, deserved a sharp response. I lived, and learned).

See I just made a few fairly anodyne contributions to extant threads so that people got used to my name and when my arse eventually but inevitably got handed to me, it wasn't quite as brusque as it could have been!

All reindeer have antlers but only the chaps shed them and have to start again if I remember the naice documentary I saw recently. I've forgotten why though.
