I've reported our recently name changed friend TRANSPHOBIC for their targeted harassment of various commenters. Which they already informed us of their attention to enact on the moderation policy thread.

Accusing a fellow member of harassment for highlighting instances of transphobia is transphobic

TERFragetteCity · 02/05/2018 19:48

@sallyannemum

You'll not be concerned then that The Wright Stuff had Dr Christian on it - telling the nation that in his opinion, Porn should be screened in schools for children to learn from. Cool. You are obviously entitled to your opinion.

Me - I think the opposite.

My apologies, I thought you were a real person. Now I realise you're a bot.

Harassment is still harassment even if you think you have a really good excuse for it.

Using trans as a get out of jail card, really can impact trans people, and as such is transphobic.

To be fair everything is transphobic isn't it. Women talking is seen as transphobic, women thinking, transphobic. Thisis, why do you feel that now is the time to end all sex based protections?

KateMumsnet · 02/05/2018 19:56

Hi all - we're really not trying to shut any discussion of this down: please do feel free to start a thread to talk about how an end of sex-segregated spaces, or a dilution of safeguarding frameworks, could be abused by predators.

However, there is quite a big difference between that and the implication, whether intentional insinuations or not, that because two groups share a campaigns style, they have other things in common.

This thread began with a link to something which analysed very closely the campaigns tactics of paedophiles - and in the context of the thread as a whole it's therefore very difficult to discuss trans issues on this thread without eliding the two in their aims, by proximity.

Even if it were easy to do so, very few posters here have managed to clearly articulate the position that paedophiles/predators will jump on ANY opportunity - and that may include opportunities opened up unintentionally as a consequence of GRA.

We're going have to delete the thread if people can't respect our request above, which would be a bit of an own goal.

No I think you'll find that according to Pankhurst's second mathematical theorem, the transphobic and the transphobia cancel each other out, and that just leaves the harassment of women posting on this site.

Your nickname is goady and inflammatory. You are trying to intimidate women into shutting up.

Bowlofbabelfish · 02/05/2018 20:03

Are you going to reply to every post saying just this is transphobic? I suppose it looks nice on t’witter?

If so could you please explain why concern for ALL children due to potential watering down of safeguarding is transphobic? Ta.

Wanderabout · 02/05/2018 20:04

Thanks mumsnet that is really clear, ta FlowersFlowersFlowers

WasIEverBored · 02/05/2018 20:04

If ordinary trans people and ordinary women could get together and speak and debate and centre the needs of those who really need protection, we might get somewhere.

This my friends will never ever happen. Not in a million years.

The happy clappy queer scene is so up its happy flappy fun filled diverse self and many people who are part of this scene wholeheartedly detest any views that are in any way shape of form seen as non-acceptig of its members' idiosyncrasies sexual fetishes. It's not merely ordinary old fashioned gay people getting on with their life and living their sexuality privately, it's a fun filled inclusion of people ranging from little pony fetishists to your bog standard gay bloke.. anything goes. They would never align themselves with people who question anything qeer or out of the ordinary.

You realise that will be screenshotted on Twitter and called TRANSPHOBIC too.

TERFragetteCity · 02/05/2018 20:12

Of course. So having someone linking all the posts to transphobia saying the discussion is transphobic is in itself making those links and is thus - transphobic.

So we know whose tactics work then

KateMumsnet · 02/05/2018 20:30

It might also be worth reading our post over here about how we approach reports.

AngryAttackKittens · 02/05/2018 20:50

OK I was on the fence until now but both the linked site stuff post and the way in which it was referenced here made up my mind for me, so thanks for that I guess.

@LangCleg You can get in touch with me via Ereshikigal. I'll miss you!

MipMipMip · 02/05/2018 21:07

Please don't go Angry, you will be much missed. If you need to for your MH then I understand but I am sorry.

littlevoiceofsanity · 02/05/2018 21:16

I've known two men get arrested for having child porn on their computers. One worked for the NHS as an anaesthetist, the other was a member of the Royal Marine Band service. I liked both of them particularly the first. Was there a clue? No. Until their arrest no one knew.
We've all heard the stories, currently there is a former treasurer to the Vatican in Court for offences to children going back years. There have been politicians, mechanics, teachers, choir masters, priests, doctors...the list is endless.
So what can we do?
Be observant and listen. If a child is acting out of sorts be aware, if that child says something to you then believe them. And act. It's not easy.
A 12 year old shared with me that her neighbour was making advances when she was babysitting for them. I was 24 and ran a music group for children.
I told her parents and it was the scariest thing I ever did. She didn't want me to because she was terrified she'd be in trouble. Scared that she's caused it somehow. It got sorted and the family moved away. I met her again years later and although more had happened than she'd first told me we were both glad the outcome was her family believed her and protected her from more harm.
Make those around us safe. It's a start.

MipMipMip · 02/05/2018 21:16

I've screenshotted a bit of that thread @MNHQ. I think you need to read the manifesto to understand the tactics being used against you and your users.

The bit about cutting off people from their support groups (forums like this one) seems particularly apt in light of @AngryAttackKittens's post.

A couple more. Please, read the thread if not the whole document @MNHQ. Maybe a few different people since you have had some trouble with unhappy staff recently.
