A woman was thrown out of a FB feminist group for challenging the idea that transwomen get periods.

apparently they DO get periods just without the small aspect of bleeding.

She was told that she was minimising transwomen's periods.

What a steaming load of imaginary unicorn shite.

thatwouldbeanecumenicalmatter · 25/04/2018 17:27

@tobee wtf was he particularly clumsy with the razor or something?

CharlieParley · 25/04/2018 17:41

Poppyred85 I am so sorry about your loss Flowers

Deathgrip that is horrendous. I so wish they'd spend more money researching treatments. DH worked on an endometriosis project a decade ago, so I know a little bit about it, but I honestly had no idea how awful endometriosis is.

No way would I ever have imagined there are men who fetishise pregnancy loss and periods. Just sickening.

tobee · 25/04/2018 17:44

Funnily enough, about the time he started growing his beard, I was in hospital having my uterus removed under general anaesthetic. After a fibroid caused severely heavy periods, for several years, leading to chronic anemia and a prolapse. I'm sure the 6 weeks of my immediate recovery and subsequent months rebuilding my strength was a very similar experience to his growing his beard.

PositivelyPERF · 25/04/2018 17:49

I'm an atheist but I respect people who believe in God so I don't go rub my beliefs in their faces Would you agree with them if they said there is a God and would you pray with them, if they asked you to?

Ardant · 25/04/2018 17:52

And would you respect them if they changed the facilities available to you, made you feel more threatened and vulnerable, or forced you to live and exist a certain way?

I think most people don't respect religious people for that reason, they don't really want them in charge or making the rules, they want a separation in church and state and all that.

Men's rights activists are the equivalent of religious terrorists in this analogy - in that no, people for the most part don't respect the latter at all, why should we respect the former?

Ardant · 25/04/2018 17:53

That might have made more sense in my head than it does onscreen.

Deathgrip · 25/04/2018 17:55

Thank you - it is a truly evil disease, and it’s thought to effect 10% of women. Diagnosis rate is shocking so there’s a good chance women here have it and don’t know it. I have many friends who I’m sure have it, a couple of them have pursued it and received a diagnosis since we discussed it.

The thought of periods being another thing you can identify into makes me rage, where can I go to identify out of them please?!

JiminyBillyBob · 25/04/2018 17:56

Absolutely insane. Are we SERIOUSLY supposed to pretend blokes can have periods? Really?

I suspect it’s some sort of spoof site.

Datun · 25/04/2018 18:04

Deathgrip

Good God, that sounds absolutely awful. You have my every bloody sympathy. Truly.

Poppyred85

You too. For your loss. All of it.

For me, the twin strands of misogyny and blind ignorance are irrevocably interwoven throughout this ideology.

And it's not confined to the ideology, many men share the same strands. Hence all the predictable and nonsense reactions to campaigns like #MeToo.

But it's particularly insidious and damaging in the trans ideology. Because of the subversion of who is affected by what.

Pretending that men who fetishise women and their biology are actually women, is something of a unique torture for women, in my opinion.

It's tries it's damnedest to close down objection by forcing a pretence.

And it therefore becomes imperative to name these men as men, as a result.

I realise, of course, that to men with gender dysphoria, being called men is painful.

But that pain does not match that of women, who have had miscarriages or whose periods are life changingly tortuous, who then have to listen to deluded fetishists making sexual capital out of it.

So don't ask me to fucking respect them, because respect is the last thing I feel. They should be exposed, and held accountable, every time.

Datun · 25/04/2018 18:08

JiminyBillyBob

Just google it on YouTube.

Men shoving Tampax up their arse, pretending they have periods, pretending they can breastfeed, etc.

There are entire sites devoted to it.

There was a thread on here, a few months ago, about a support group for men who feign pregnancy, complete with prosthetic bumps and lingerie clad selfies.

Is this group real-life verified?

Sounds like a wind up.

conservativeuterus · 25/04/2018 18:10

I am so sick of all this shit. Utterly utterly fucking sick of it.

Ellenripleysalienbaby · 25/04/2018 18:10

Deliberately using the wrong pronoun is an act of violence

No its not, its really not. Words matter, you can't just redefine the word 'violence' to include 'you not agreeing with me'. Rude? Maybe. Violent? No.

GrooovyLass · 25/04/2018 18:12

Ffs I don't understand why people go along with this bullshit, I really don't.

Ellenripleysalienbaby · 25/04/2018 18:14

Men shoving Tampax up their arse

Ew.

Not going to Google; actually, I once typed in #transgirl into Twitter and what I saw on there in the bum department was enough to know that putting tampons up there is small fry.

Merrykegs · 25/04/2018 18:19

Transwomen can't have periods, they don't have periods. The people tying themselves in knots about this are deluded.

bd67th · 25/04/2018 18:39

@transauthor When TRAs stop minimising and appropriating an female biological process that has had me fainting at work from pain and resulted in surgery to treat endometriosis, then I'll consider using preferred pronouns instead of accurate ones. I do not give respect to those who prove themselves undeserving of it. Words are not violence, Tanis Wolf's fist to Skepticat's face was violence. I will not participate in my own erasure.

changeypants · 25/04/2018 19:16

tobee I remember my very first sex education lesson aged 11, the teacher explaining to a room full of shocked girls that periods weren't really as bad as we were all imagining, it was no worse than a man having to shave daily.

Ereshkigal · 25/04/2018 19:27

I suspect it’s some sort of spoof site.

Plenty of transactivists and allies think this.

thebewilderness · 25/04/2018 19:33

I am deeply concerned about the young ones who have been told they can change sex and that hormone side effects are menstrual cramps.
This is putting them at risk of death or destruction and it is an evil thing for transgender advocates to do.
There is an online cult recruitment that is spreading.
It starts with the lie that everyone is female in the uterus.
If you deviate in any way from rigid gender roles you are proclaimed transgender.
Then they offer advice on how to get hormones both legally and illegally.
They claim that the hormone therapy is perfectly safe and reversible.
They claim that hormones will grow them breasts to being their sex change to female.
Then that surgery will remove male genitalia to reveal female genitalia hidden beneath.

grandplans · 25/04/2018 19:38

There are a lot of deletions on this thread - what's going on?

You can see page 1 of the thread via Google Cache. For those, people don't seem to have made personal insults, they're questioning the sanity of men who think they have periods / whether they're genuine or on a wind up.

Is that not allowed now? Can someone help me understand why not?

Merrykegs · 25/04/2018 19:39

Oh fgs

Ereshkigal · 25/04/2018 19:41

I am deeply concerned about the young ones who have been told they can change sex and that hormone side effects are menstrual cramps.

They really do think this. I have spoken to some of them about it. I think a lot of people don't realise how anti/pseudoscience based much online discourse is.
