All the Mumsnet hate on Twitter. Have we friendzoned India's penetration?

It seems that India is a little obsessed and is even now actively encouraging brands to stop advertising with Mumsnet.
A picture of a 17 year old with a semi in a skirt will stop a baby formula brand wanting to be associated apparently Confused twitter.com/IndiaWilloughby/status/987348210858577921?s=20

This thread has led me to discover that India Willoughby, who I have had literally no form of interaction with ever, has blocked me on twitter. Go figure!

RefuseToDenounceBiology · 20/04/2018 20:51

I’m glad MN exists, you lot have helped me articulate what bothers me about trendy transness so now I feel somewhat ready to bring up DD (who is only 4 months old but is already being gender stereotyped by all and sundry)

And long may Mumsnet continue!

How lovely you have a 4 month baby. Flowers

Precisely, Agreed. I tend to object when people try to piss on my leg and tell me it's raining. Some women are just unaccepting that way.

BeUpStanding · 20/04/2018 20:53

That's a good post @theyoniwayisnorthwards, really well reasoned and articulated. We differ on our perception of the risk to women, but I agree that the rhetoric on here can sometimes be awful.

I can't take a post referring to someone who gets a semi wearing a skirt as 'her' seriously.

I tried to get through it but a couple of paragraphs in I realised I can't be arsed this evening with being polite to someone who insults freely then tried to bullshit that they didn't.

RefuseToDenounceBiology · 20/04/2018 21:07

I can't be arsed

And here in I think the battle will be won. When people can no longer be arsed to let the bullshit continue. It is tiring and pointless and eventually we'll collectively default back to the real world again.

In fact there will even come a day when India Willoughby can no longer be arsed.

Interesting difference:
This thread remains visible to all ( and is no doubt being scrutinised by some). Anyone can join (except those banned by the site).

Meanwhile in Twitter... mass 'terf blocks', block by association, etc...

Please can someone set the siren off if that does actually happen, I'd actually pay to watch Grin

Some may have missed Julia Hartley Brewer's interview with Justine Roberts & India Willoughby this week

Context is important!

Trousersdontmakemeaman · 20/04/2018 21:59

Actually, in term of consciousness raising it's been an incredible few weeks.

IW wants to close down MN to close down women talking about our concerns. You only have to remember BB with IW and Amanda Barrie to know what kind of person IW is.

R0wantrees · 20/04/2018 22:11

What Justine said:
"I think the problem with this is that the trans lobby have confused an issue about people quite rightfully sticking up for the idea of hard won women's rights around....(interrupted but earlier JR referenced women's refuge and rape counselling as examples)

The upshot of the change to the legislation that's been asked for around self-identity, is that you are putting women, including transgender women quite frankly in vulnerable positions potentially.
We need to be able to discuss if we are changing legislation, and for very good reasons because I am totally in favour of recognition, equality and fair treatment of all individuals and letting them live how they live.
But we need to be able to discuss these competing rights and it needs to not just be shut down....and I'm afraid and to be honest India you've got to see the other point of view, you can't just plough on with the [position] 'our issue is the only important one''

Rufustheconstantreindeer · 20/04/2018 22:12

One assumes they feel mumsnet is an easy target, which it probably is to be fair

No going after pistonheads, or reddit or britain first or that aarse one

Nope nope nope...mumsnet

(Apologies to anyone also on the forums mentioned above who are quite happy not being attacked on twitter)

RefuseToDenounceBiology · 20/04/2018 22:29

One assumes they feel mumsnet is an easy target

I think it is more than that. It is misogyny.

It is misogyny

Wouldn't disagree with that
