Just wanted to see who is going to this, and let Mumsnetters know it is happening if you didn't already. It's going to be a great meeting I think - with a choir singing too!

Thanks

I'm so glad this has gone ahead - I'm hoping there's something on the weekend towards the end of June that I'm back in the UK - I'm willing to drive virtually anywhere to get to one and show my support - I feel so useless out in the wilds of Europe!

I was in the military in the 80s, a completely tolerant environment, unofficially that was. Men lived side by side with every sexuality and orientation. It was live and let live as much as they could manage when the law was draconian still. Out at sea on long voyages the Captain would hold weddings unofficially if that's what was wanted. A party was always welcome. They would make wedding dresses. And yet you think I hate. Please stop saying that about me. Yes we argue for our viewpoint on the law but we are not trying to destroy peaceful coexistence.

Melamin Article 11 of the Human Rights Act 1988
www.equalityhumanrights.com/en/human-rights/human-rights-act

''Article 11 protects your right to protest by holding meetings and demonstrations with other people
You also have the right to form and be part of a trade union, a political party or any another association or voluntary group. Nobody has the right to force you to join a protest, trade union, political party or another association.''

I only know what happened at sea because I was told by men, I was excluded, because of my biology. I couldn't be a proper member of the armed forces because I was female. I was discriminated against and was on woman's payscale, lower than the men's pay. We understand discrimination.

I don't think all this trying to stop women having meeting helps the trans activists.

No it doesn't in the long run. But it has got more chance of success than trying to get the majority of the population to pretend they believe that some women have dicks. So the shouting, lying, and bullying will continue, because that's all they have.

Melamin · 12/04/2018 20:47

Thanks. It is amazing what you learn when you start on this journey. It has been eye-opening so far. Thank you TRAs Wink

Mouthtrousersafrocknowandthen · 12/04/2018 20:48

Sorry I am derailing. Hoping Crisp will read it. Wish I was there.

boatyardblues · 12/04/2018 20:53

Wish I was there

Me too. Sounds like a cracking meeting, despite all the aggro earlier.

Melamin · 12/04/2018 20:54

I think they get better each time.

Mouthtrousersafrocknowandthen · 12/04/2018 21:14

They are not daft, they had a plan A.

Writersblock2 · 12/04/2018 21:16

Well done, Wales!!!

I think you should withdraw that personal attack on Debbie Hayton, crispbutty, because it is blatantly untrue and unfair, and Debbie is on Mumsnet.

AnitaLovesVictor · 12/04/2018 21:37

"It's so sad you are making this into a zero sum game, winners and losers. That's not the intention. No-one wants a Trump world. We are listening to you, you are being heard. Trans rights are human rights. Badly enacted law helps no-one."

Crispbutty. This is an excellent point that you should take on board. Your posts are becoming increasingly unhinged, if I may say so.

We know the TRA tactics to get venues to cancel - we've seen them, and we've seen them organised. They make threats, and tell lies.

ElenOfTheWays · 12/04/2018 21:40

With all due respect it doesn't surprise me that the only trans women well regarded on this forum, are the ones that the vast majority of trans women disagree with, and are not welcome to join in trans groups, because they are only interested in advocating for themselves, other transsexuals and biological women and girls.

There, fixed that for you.

UpstartCrow · 12/04/2018 21:40

She has zero interest in any of the trans community unless it benefits her, or the older generation who cling to the term transexual.

Confirmation that trans activists want to get rid of the term 'transsexual', against the wishes of transsexuals.

TheMostBeautifulDogInTheWorld · 12/04/2018 21:41

the older generation who cling to the term

"Outdated" you are saying?

So what are your criteria? How long is a trans person "allowed" to be trans before you put them on a shelf marked "past sell by date"?

OvaHere · 12/04/2018 21:41

Nice bit of implied ageism there too crispy

LangCleg · 12/04/2018 21:42

#TGLWGH

I would just like to say that I very much like Debbie Hayton and appreciate the way in which Debbie never sinks to personal attack.

I would also like to reiterate that WPUK and WNTT are two entirely different campaigning groups.

AnitaLovesVictor · 12/04/2018 21:43

Indeed Lang. I've never seen Debbie partake in anything other than respectful discussion.

She definitely lives TGLWGH.

RogerAllamsFangirl · 12/04/2018 21:44

Just another #TGLWGH

Beyond11cisRetinol · 12/04/2018 21:47

Pub? Grin

MsBeaujangles · 12/04/2018 21:50

crispbutty you say various people 'have made it clear they do not accept trans women'. What do you think they have 'made clear'? What are they 'not accepting'.

My understanding of the people you mention is that they accept transwomen: exist, they are entitled to dignity, privacy and respect, are protected by some laws, have a right to speak/ protest peacefully and to hold views different to their own.

I don't think they accept trans women: are women, can become women, have protections that usurp all sex based protections or are entitled to shut down debate.

Believing that sex is fixed from birth and can and should determine access to some provision does not equal not accepting transwomen.
