Just wanted to see who is going to this, and let Mumsnetters know it is happening if you didn't already. It's going to be a great meeting I think - with a choir singing too!

I wish I had gone to the Cambridge one. It was one of the first and I was a bit scared, and I don't know my way round Cambridge so was worried about where the venue would be etc.

Hope everyone on the other side of the country enjoys this one! Choir as well! Envy

Kalikan · 06/04/2018 11:25

See you there! Was too scared to attend the one held near to where I live, but I've since regretted chickening out, so will be making the extra effort to get to Cardiff for this Smile

Melamin · 06/04/2018 11:30

It is a chance to be on the right side of history, even if it is only attending one meeting, isn't it Smile

Gappyonthetwits · 06/04/2018 13:18

Do come if you can. You can sing along with Cor Cochion and come for drinks and a debrief afterwards.

We have a right to discuss these issues that affect us. See you there!

concretesieve · 06/04/2018 13:19

Oh - I guessed the choir would be Cor Cochion Caerdydd! They're fab!

RochelleGoyle · 06/04/2018 16:07

I will try to come. Very interested in this.

LightofaSilveryMoon · 07/04/2018 23:55

Yes! Today, I got travel and bed for the night sorted advance!

LightofaSilveryMoon · 07/04/2018 23:57

Best wishes to those attending the Cardiff meeting. I'm sorry I can't get to it but it is a bit far for me on a Thursday evening.

And don't let anyone tell you that WPUK are anti-trans.

BingBongSong · 10/04/2018 16:30

There are a couple of events taking place in Cardiff on the same day - as a reaction to the WPUK meeting?

Support Our Trans Community Against Hate

Fantastic Women Festival

I am waiting for WPUK to come a bit closer to me! Wishing you all a peaceful and informative evening. Please let me know how it went.

Ereshkigal · 10/04/2018 18:40

Women's rights are not "hate".

Beyond11cisRetinol · 10/04/2018 19:47

I'll be there :) 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

mamas12 · 10/04/2018 20:02

I'll be there
IT certainly will be interesting to see how many of us know each other
Wales is such a small place I'm sure we'll see so many we know and I know I'll be heartened to see familiar faces.
I am going to have to out myself to my kids before I go, one has just graduated and has sipped a little of the koolaid but every time I have pointed something out she does actually agree with me haha.

SirVixofVixHall · 10/04/2018 20:26

I’ll be there too. I hope there isn’t any aggro , given that it is being framed as a hate issue.

MumOfThrMoos · 10/04/2018 20:30

I went to the London one - it wasn't scary - it was great!

Enjoy everyone!

SirVixofVixHall · 10/04/2018 22:24

I’m really shocked at the wording of the other events, all that focus on hate. Deliberately stirring up conflict and setting up the narrative that GC women hate trans people. Not mentioning that trans people have spoken at the previous meetings. It is so deceitful.

LightofaSilveryMoon · 10/04/2018 23:01

Utterly deceitful, and pathetic.
This is about women's rights. This is not hate, by any logic - no hate whatsoever against anyone, just a movement in support of women's rights.
But it seems that standing up and speaking out in support of women's rights is somehow regarded as hate by men who demand that feminism should put men at its centre. Bollocks to that.
This is just slandering women who say no to men.

SirVixofVixHall · 10/04/2018 23:10

A friend of a friend is speaking at the other event.

FlyByNightSky · 10/04/2018 23:11

I'll be there :)

SirVixofVixHall · 10/04/2018 23:12

Lightofasilverymoon - I agree.

Pythagonal · 10/04/2018 23:54

I've got a ticket, but plans have changed and I can't be there. 😥. If anyone needs an extra ticket, could you please let me know by noon tomorrow? Otherwise I'll offer it to a member of Plaid to give to Leanne Wood 🤣🤣🤣🤣

SirVixofVixHall · 11/04/2018 10:47

I notice a female labour MP is speaking at the other event. Why on earth would she not come and listen to the speakers at Womans Place ? Would be far more politically savvy for starters, to understand why labour voting women have left the party over this issue. Clearly it is easier to dismiss us all as hate-fuelled bigots. I am still stunned by the utter stupidity of that stance.

BingBongSong · 11/04/2018 12:19

The only reason I know about the two other events is through someone I know, who highlighted the "Support our Trans Community Against Hate" on their social media. Without even looking at it I knew it would be on the same date as the WPUK event. And I was so disappointed in my friend, tbh. Glad I didn't send them the link to the petition now.

Being totally honest, when I read the blurb for the two other events, my initial reaction was to question myself in supporting WPUK. My rational self tells me that I am being gaslighted.

SirVixofVixHall · 11/04/2018 12:24

I read the blurb for the other events, and while I can see that the whole stand- up-against-hatred narrative is something that appeals to all of us, the contrast between the stirring up of conflict contrasted with Woman’s Place ‘s calm, rational and fair statements , is enormous.
Very disappointed in the Labour MP, but not surprised.
