Sigh

And read that as: of course women are allowed to voice an opinion, as long as it's the right one.

Mayday01 · 15/03/2018 18:41

'Outdated ideas of biology' 😂😂
Its so strange how anyone manages to get pregnant these days, considering how undefinable sex/gender seems to be, according to these people.
Anyone with two brain cells together can see the increased danger to women if Self Id is passed.

sexnotgender · 15/03/2018 18:43

41% attempted suicide in Wales...

How coincidental that this is the same made up statistic that stonewall present 🧐

Mayday01 · 15/03/2018 18:46

I noticed the obligatory suicide stats as well.
As a former DV support worker, she would have seen straight through that tactic, but still uses it to gaslight others. Wonder what her agenda is.

thebewilderness · 15/03/2018 18:47

100% of the twenty people I surveyed say the 41% figure is bogus.

Elendon · 15/03/2018 18:50

Obviously Leanne doesn't believe men are the 'enemy' either, despite her work as a supporter in a women's refuge. The most horrific case of domestic violence I was involved in was in Wales - it involved murder. It wasn't women who were calling that bastard the 'enemy'.

ElenOfTheWays · 15/03/2018 18:50

Well. There goes my cunning plan of running away to Wales if it all got too bad. Grin
Seriously though, what a load of bilge. Did seems to have completely misunderstood the entire issue on every single point.

Merrylegs · 15/03/2018 18:53

It's not OK to be anti-intellectual about this. Outdated 'ideas' of biology? So glad that in British Science week we learn that biology is all about the feelz. Surely she is not that dense. Wonder what she really thinks and why she can't say it.

Nosetothesun · 15/03/2018 18:55

Noticing also the 'cut n paste' justification that self-id will follow Ireland, Malta etc... Has anyone ever proposed following alternatives from any of the other countries? Just checked and UK is one of 195

CircleSquareCircleSquare · 15/03/2018 18:59

Outdated ideas of biology? When will they be contacting the medical schools and hospitals?

Does anyone have any information with regards the flaws in the Stonewall statistics about trans suicide? I’m sure I read some on here but haven’t been able to find them today.

aRespectableBureaudeChange · 15/03/2018 19:02

Yes she should tell us what her imaginary friends say on the issue too, science just hasn't proved her imaginary friends are real yet, but what does science know ?

She feels they're real so they must be - they couldn't actually just be well, thoughts in her head.

Science and its dealing with tangible facts(waves fist in air).

HerFemaleness · 15/03/2018 19:03

@Mayday01, I was about to post that very same quote.

I'm glad I'm not trying for a baby in these new modern times. It sounds frightfully difficult. You can't tell by looking at somebody which sex they belong to, so I'm told. And sex itself is very very complicated. There's no such thing as just a man or just a woman. There are varying degrees of man-ness and woman-ness because it's all a spectrum. I'm assuming it's only by some miracle that people are managing to find a person that they can actually conceive a child with.

DarthArts · 15/03/2018 19:03

How disappointing.

Plaid had the opportunity to quite literally provide a political home for women disenfranchised from Labour.

For the life of me I can't begin to fathom how, having read all the information and evidence you can possibly say men are women and self id is a good idea for anyone.

Basing political goals on the basis of "feelings" is a very dangerous precedent.

Sigh.....

thebewilderness · 15/03/2018 19:03

Can you mandate belief?
Can you codify into law the idea that some people can mind over matter themselves out of material reality and into the opposite sex, and must be treated accordingly?
It is like transubstantiation. A belief that no one actually believes.
Will you allow people to drug and mutilate children based on this belief that no one believes?
How will the government punish women who refuse to submit to male dominance? Put them in prison with trans identified males?

KochabRising · 15/03/2018 19:06

This insistence that science is on their side is a new tactic. I’ve seen about a dozen times this week.

You start off by making a statement that science doesn’t know everything/the more we learn etc and then you build your argument.

Thing is, the statement is incorrect- sex determination is one of the processes we actually do understand pretty well. Of course a good scientist is always open to new data but the idea that we don’t understand sex biology is pants. We do.

If Leanne would like to have a wee hat about exactly which bits of biology are outdated/fuzzy then this career scientist would just love to take her on.

Watch for this new tactic, and counter appropriately

aRespectableBureaudeChange · 15/03/2018 19:07

It can only be self-preservation, fuck you lot (she says).

Or the aliens are coming- it is getting into sci-fi territory - I'm wondering what it is we don't know about, that's making everyone behave like weird robots.

aRespectableBureaudeChange · 15/03/2018 19:08

Mandate belief: getting Talibanesque for sure.

BeyondDeadlySiren · 15/03/2018 19:10

100% of welsh disabled women I know have attempted suicide, where's their ticker tape fucking parade?

TallulahWaitingInTheRain · 15/03/2018 19:11

What I want to know is who the hell has got to all these women? And how?

TheGoldenBough · 15/03/2018 19:14

Bloody Hell, thebewilderness stop posting that!

I was walking up a corridor at work today reciting it in part. When I got home, I went for a nice relaxing soak in the bath and it popped into my head again.

Just stop it!! 😂😂😂

AndhowcouldIeverrefuse · 15/03/2018 19:14

Does she really believe that? If so how disappointing. I saw her as a strong, intelligent woman. She replaced an old-guard Welsh-speaking man in the top job at Plaid Cymru. I wonder what he makes of the whole trans issue.

Gileswithachainsaw · 15/03/2018 19:14

No mention of the horrific violence and sexual assult suffered by women at the hands of transwomen who have been put into women's prison hey...Hmm

Most the transwomen aren't in there for parking tickets are they.ffs.

Collidascope · 15/03/2018 19:15

The enemy is narrow gender norms which limit our children’s expectations and lead to bullying and abuse of anyone who’s seen as different.

Yes, so why shore them up with this ideology? Concentrate on dismantling gender norms, not making them worse FFS.

LostArt · 15/03/2018 19:16

The argument against women voicing an opinion is that a subset of men have it hard.

I think using vulnerable children as a reason to shut us up is pretty low. If she bothered to listen to what we are saying she would understand that these vulnerable children are our concern.

TallulahWaitingInTheRain · 15/03/2018 19:23

Half the reason for having female representation in the first place is to prevent this kind of thing from happening. Why isn't it working?
