Ok sounds gossipy but PL is on the Wright Stuff right now and disagreed with Anne whatshername from the chase and Anne just said “you should know you used to be a boy” - huge Awkward silence.

Tbh, I don’t like Anne and her reply to Lees was harsh and unnecessary. I really don’t like PLs either to be clear. It was quite a 😱 moment.

This year the term transsexual was even officially removed.

From what?

What Ann said was not offensive. Paris Lees said herself that she was not offended.

If she wasn't and nobody complained to the TV show then who exactly was?

The TV show assumed it would happen and over reacted. Creating a story that need not have existed had they shown any common sense.

It was not like Paris did not have the opportunity to react. She did and chose not to and talked about what they were there to discuss.

Paris might have said something had Ann said - You should know because you ARE a boy.

But she didn't.

In any case if she had and Paris had objected then an astute Ann might have hit back and pointed out that she does not have a gender recognition certificate to say that she is a girl, or a birth certificate that says anything other than she WAS a boy.

Paris has chosen not to apply for either seemingly to push for it to be allowed by declaration only and no medical assessment.

So there was not even much of a case to argue about current reality let alone past reality. Though most people would refer to Paris as a woman as that is her stated pronoun choice. Ann may have even said that too.

This whole story is the definition of a storm in a teapot.

Anne has commented on the cotton ceiling in the past so I’m not so sure her comment was entirely innocent.

Good post Jaycee.

I thought Paris was rather dignified....

Actually, thinking about this (and also the fact Anne has autism) this exchange throws open how the trans agenda relies entirely on the belief of something that isn't true.

Anne didn't actually say anything that wasn't a statement of fact. She didn't say anything derogatory about trans people. She said 'you used to be a boy'. Which is true

Yep. Aspies are very attached to truth, fact and accuracy. It’s a strength as far as I can see, and not one of the disabling elements of the condition. If you want something rationally analysed, an aspie is the person for the job.

If anyone has Sky and has not seen it look out for last weeks episode of The Good Doctor.

This is a hit US drama about a young doctor played by British actor Freddie Highmore. It is by the same team that did House if anyone watched that.

He is Autistic and his condition makes interacting with patients difficult.

Last weeks episode saw him face a young trans girl (or boy as many would presumably put it) in hospital with a very unfortunate medical crisis that put her future into crisis.

The autistic doctor cannot, of course, see her as a she as he views things literally and this is where the story develops from.

It is handled very well as an episode and shows some of the issues involved and the context of the choices.

in recent weeks ITV have also been filming Butterfly - a new drama series set to screen next winter/early 2019 in and around Manchester.

Anna Friel plays the mother of a boy wishing to transition to a girl.
