Hi. I'm part of a FB group for women suffering with PMDD. I commented on a recent post where "Menstruators" was used. I suggested with a wink, that they meant Women.

This was the reply:
Nope... We had lots of feedback very early on that trans men and non binary sufferers need to be included... It's menstruators or those who menstruate for now. If you can think of something better so let us know. And if not... Then please feel free to step forward and take all the slack we get 😉

I am massively disappointed that this group has fallen for the trans line. Especially as it's one supporting Women with an ultimately Female health problem.

Any suggestions please - I am too Angry

A lot of whats going on is being led by anarchicists or hijacked by anarchicistic.

Yes, I think there is a clear transactivist/anarchist crossover.

Rumpledfaceskin · 10/03/2018 10:33

What on earth is the problem? Some trans men will still have periods, it’s offensive to them refer to them as women. It makes very little difference to non trans women whether they are called women or menstruators, although it does sound funny.

Datun · 10/03/2018 10:43

Are you serious? Someone who is trans is legitimately able to claim offence, but someone who isn't, can't, despite being massively offended.

Why's that then?

Rumpledfaceskin · 10/03/2018 10:49

How is it possibly offensive? I menstruated and gave birth, I didn’t ‘woman’. They are just descriptive scientific terms. Lost of biological women don’t have periods for various reasons, are they less of a woman? This is a stupid thread designed purely to trans bash. Is anyone is honestly offended by being called a mensturator rather than a woman? Really???

QueenLaBeefah · 10/03/2018 10:53

I'm offended, yes.

Squishysquirmy · 10/03/2018 10:55

My take on that comment would be not so much that they've fallen for "the trans line" but that they've been bullied into it and they've chosen to go along with "menstruators" for an easy(er) life. They are probab!y fed up of discussions about language getting in the way of what they are trying to talk about, and I sympathise with them. I agree with you it is ridiculous though!

LadyMcLadyCrisps · 10/03/2018 11:00

Damn right I am fucking offended crumpled.

NothingTraLaLa · 10/03/2018 11:00

Not all women menstruate, but all people that menstruate are women.

CircleSquareCircleSquare · 10/03/2018 11:00

Yes I am honestly offended at being referred to as a mensturator rather than a woman, it is dehumanising in the extreme.
It wouldn’t be acceptable in a clinical spehere and I hope to fuck it doesn’t become acceptable society.

When do I get to object to now someone identifies ME?

Stilettosandan0venglove · 10/03/2018 11:07

However by these snowflakes acceding to 'menstruators' as a non triggering, inclusive term, but not 'woman' as a non triggering, inclusive term, they are forcing you to collude in a lie that 'woman' means ladybrain.

Fuck that.

I agree with this, I think this is why it's offensive.

merrymouse · 10/03/2018 11:08

No because being female is a biological description. You can no more be more or less of a woman than you can be more or less human. A very few people are ‘intersex’ and this covers a variety of conditions which may lead to misidentification of sex at birth, but that has nothing to do with gender or identity.

Women who don’t menstruate will be too young to menstruate, be post menopausal, have had a hysterectomy, be pregnant or breastfeeding, suffering from a medical condition, or be taking medication to stop them menstruating. All of this is because they are women.

There is no cross over between any of these states and not menstruating because you have the body of a healthy adult male.

Using the term ‘menstruator’ in place of woman is offensive to me because it prioritises unscientific, harmful concepts of innate gender identity over scientific objectivity.

Datun · 10/03/2018 11:21

Straight out of the TRA playbook.

It almost doesn't warrant an answer it's so stupid.

If a woman stops having periods she will go to the doctor and say I've stopped having periods and she will investigate. Because it's an explicitly female experience.

If a man goes to the doctor and says I've stopped having period he will be escorted from the premises.

Likewise all these fictitious women who unaccountably don't have a womb and are upset about infertility They will be diagnosed and treated. Because it's an explicitly female experience.

If a man went to the doctor and was upset that he was infertile because he didn't have a womb, he would join the non-menstruating man outside.

Is anyone is honestly offended by being called a mensturator rather than a woman? Really???

Yup. Almost every woman on the planet.

I menstruated and gave birth, I didn’t ‘woman

Interesting. To be described by your biological process?

How about toilets ?

Separated by urethra inside a penis, and urethra next to a vagina?

Perhaps Mother's Day should be called egg producing human day?

Women who suffer morning sickness should just be called vomiters.

CircleSquareCircleSquare · 10/03/2018 11:29

When I come downstairs to my family in the morning, I glance around the table at them with pride and think to myself “what a lovely bunch of shitters”.

Datun · 10/03/2018 11:34

CircleSquareCircleSquare

Given I'm the only woman in my house, when I come down, I have a similar thought.

Wankers

SpringHen · 10/03/2018 11:35

Not all women menstruate, but all people that menstruate are women.

The reasons a women may not menstruate are WOMENS HEALTH ISSUES
So no, obviously.
Because men dont do menopause or have gynae issues.
Women do
Thats why non mentruating women and menstruating women are WOMEN

CircleSquareCircleSquare · 10/03/2018 11:36

Snort

NothingTraLaLa · 10/03/2018 11:56

SpringHen, I agree with you and I can see how my post was ambiguous.

Rumpledfaceskin · 10/03/2018 13:02

We’re not talking about men who think they can have periods. We’re talking about biological females who have periods who do not wish to be referred to as women. Fake outrage to start yet another anti trans discussion.

Datun · 10/03/2018 13:03

Rumpledfaceskin

It really doesn't matter if it's men or women saying it. It's offensive.

And believe me, it's driven by men. Not women.

QueenLaBeefah · 10/03/2018 13:04

Why do females who do not wish to be referred to as women take precedence over females who do wish to be referred to as women?

UpstartCrow · 10/03/2018 13:08

I'm baffled by the idea that trans people are allowed to be offended by a name or word but natal women are not.

HairyLittlePoet · 10/03/2018 13:15

My thanks to the posters who asked for the poem to be reposted. Appreciate the kindness, and have started a new thread for it as suggested.

Cheers to the OP colouringinagain for inspiring me to crack on and finish writing it. That one has been brewing for a while.

Rumpledfaceskin · 10/03/2018 13:27

Why would you want to offend or upset another natal woman when you could just use another accurate descriptive term? As I said, fake outrage to persue an agenda. Who else might we accuse of that one?!

MIngerDynasty · 10/03/2018 13:29

I went with out periods for years because of my PCOS. DIdn't start them until I was an adult either.

Funny enough, never complained about using the word woman in this way though Hmm

RedToothBrush · 10/03/2018 13:38

Its not fake. I wish in my case it were fake. Dehumanising language has an affect.
