International Women's Day Mass Cancelling of Labour Memberships Action

I am passing on an action started by @mayday4women on Twitter; they aren't on Mumsnet so they said I could post here for them.

Basically they are getting a lot of women contacting them saying they are cancelling their Labour memberships due to the decision by Labour's NEC to essentially take on self ID as party policy in every area, including re AWS. And they think it'd be a more powerful statement if women did it en masse together on International Women's Day, which is the 8th March (Thursday).

The idea is to let Labour see how important this is to women, and how badly they are letting women down. Everyone can always reinstate their memberships down the line, but this is a way to be seen and heard, and to make a statement. I'm not a member of any political party myself right now, but as I say I am passing this on and doing all I can to support my sisters in the Labour Party.

Mayday for women are drawing up a statement, and you can get in touch with them directly if you want to let them know you are taking part in the action: mayday4women@gmail

Cheers!

What about those who have already resigned, do Mayday4women want others to add their name?

Wanderingwomb · 06/03/2018 15:00

This is great but sadly some of us cannot risk the threat to their careers of publicising their names. I really can't believe it's come to that, but it has.

LifelongVaginaOwner · 06/03/2018 15:01

Hi @CompanionUnderstands If you've already resigned because of this issue then contact them. I think they want you to provide your CLP, but you could drop them an email first. I've seen at least 1 woman who has already resigned and asked to be added to this action

LifelongVaginaOwner · 06/03/2018 15:02

Wanderingwomb I'd ask them about the possibility of remaining anonymous. I'm sure there will be many in that position.

leyat · 06/03/2018 15:05

I've just tweeted them to ask re what details they are looking for and will post as soon as I hear back. I would definitely get in touch even if you have already cancelled your membership...

I’ve already e-mailed them and agreed to be part of this but like wandering said I’m also a bit worried as I work in schools and in the public sector.

They have said that if you e-mail your interest they will be in touch once they’ve put the letter together so nothing will go out with your name on without consent.

loveyouradvice · 06/03/2018 15:18

Brilliant idea... any chance you're pasting on Chat and AIBU as well for traffic? Congrats...

leyat · 06/03/2018 15:26

I'm quite new to this, what do you mean re Chat and AIBU? :D

Email is [email protected].

And done. I left last month over this so happy to be added to the list.

sallyannemum · 06/03/2018 17:33

So how many of you are actual members of the Labour Party very few , you have just all jumped on the hate bandwagon without looking at the full picture, s for not having your names in a public place, Why not that's no different to what the uneducated TERFS have done to Trans Women, they have outed them publicly even to employers,

Patodp · 06/03/2018 17:37

I left Labour already as a member over erasing women.
Can I add my name?

I'd like to remain anonymous because the TRAs will attack wherever they can.

Ritzsaltedcrackers · 06/03/2018 17:42

Oh go away sallyannemum, you dim handmaiden.

sallyannemum · 06/03/2018 18:10

Ritzsltedcracker far from dim, that's for sheeple like you, Look at the bigger picture

Ritzsaltedcrackers · 06/03/2018 18:14

I have, sally. Most of the women on here have taken the time to educate ourselves on this and recognise the misogyny in the trans movement and the fact that it’s men’s rights activism in a dress. The sheeple are the ones like you who bleat that transwomen are women and call other women TERFs without bothering to apply any critical thought. All for virtue cookies and male approval.

Fishfingersandwichnocheese · 06/03/2018 18:18

Perhaps you could give us the full on trans women continuously beating born women in female sports competitions due to their physiology then ?

And the same pattern of violent behaviours found in trans women as in other biological males ?

And the issues
Just to begin ?

TERFragetteCity · 06/03/2018 18:22

So how many of you are actual members of the Labour Party very few , you have just all jumped on the hate bandwagon without looking at the full picture

Obviously, everyone who emails as the point is to resign.

Why not explain this whole picture, been waiting for thus for months.

thebewilderness · 06/03/2018 20:49

The big picture is that society does not approve of women who reject the zombie lies men tell about themselves.
That is now and has been the big picture of every culture on the planet for several hundred of years.

thebewilderness · 06/03/2018 20:50

In the interest of full disclosure I am not now nor ever have been a member of any UK political party.

SnibbleAgain · 06/03/2018 20:54

I cancelled my DD but didn't write to resign or tell them why, my email saying membership is up and do I want to sign up again came a day or two ago,

also just remembered they called me couple days back said would I renew I said no they didn't ask me why which I found a bit odd but thought maybe they could guess!

Don't understand the idea that women on these threads aren't labour members / recent labour members, so we're all, what fantasists and liars ha no, you're looking in the wrong direction for that!

HairyBallTheorem · 06/03/2018 20:54

"Sheeple" - I call bot!

thebewilderness · 06/03/2018 21:02

As I understand it simply cancelling takes months to be reflected unless you also advise your council. Others can explain better than I how to do this.

TERFragetteCity · 06/03/2018 21:05

Have we had the whole picture transplained yet?

UpstartCrow · 06/03/2018 21:40

The bigger picture being The Worldwide Centrist Republic of Gilead.

sallyannemum · 06/03/2018 21:57

I would rather have a thousand plus Trans Women in a room, Bathroom, or any where than a vile group of transphobic men haters, which is how you and your like re coming across, Have you ever actually met trans gender woman and spoken to them I think not, So Trans women are not welcome in female places, So what about Trans Men they don't have "Dicks" so they are welcome everywhere, And until they obtain a GRC they have to be treated as the gender they were born too, Works both ways

Sallyanne, you are about the 99th troll who has shown up with this routine.
Male violence is the greatest human rights crisis the world has ever known. Women are deeply concerned about this.
We are talking about it here.
I personally have had cordial interactions with transexual identified males. The only interaction I have had with trangender identified males is the rape and death threats they send me right regularly because I refuse to believe the zombie lies they tell about themselves.
