International Women's Day Mass Cancelling of Labour Memberships Action

I am passing on an action started by @mayday4women on Twitter; they aren't on Mumsnet so they said I could post here for them.

Basically they are getting a lot of women contacting them saying they are cancelling their Labour memberships due to the decision by Labour's NEC to essentially take on self ID as party policy in every area, including re AWS. And they think it'd be a more powerful statement if women did it en masse together on International Women's Day, which is the 8th March (Thursday).

The idea is to let Labour see how important this is to women, and how badly they are letting women down. Everyone can always reinstate their memberships down the line, but this is a way to be seen and heard, and to make a statement. I'm not a member of any political party myself right now, but as I say I am passing this on and doing all I can to support my sisters in the Labour Party.

Mayday for women are drawing up a statement, and you can get in touch with them directly if you want to let them know you are taking part in the action: mayday4women@gmail

Cheers!

get your head out of mumsnet (and also your own vagina)

Well I met a number of men when I served in the Royal Navy that figured out how to suck their own penis (using the bunks) but I do think this is a physical impossibility for women.

Just saying.

Works both ways - What is point you are trying to make? Transmen are of course welcome in female spaces, as they are biologically women. They get it.

Before being aware of the GRA Self-ID proposals and the aggressiveness of the TRAs I felt that transsexuals/transwomen should be welcomed in most female places.

It is because of the aggressive TRA agenda that my understanding changed.

Thanks for the beautiful collage, but I am yet to see a single viewpoint from transmen which makes me concerned about the well-being or safety of others. Funny that.

Did you see the trans activist Rebecca Root challenge Emma (the extremely brave DV victim on Victoria Derbyshire this week)? Emma stated SHE WOULD NOT FEEL SAFE in a women’s refuge with anyone who was biologically male? Why did Rebecca Root try to pressure her to say otherwise?? It showed a total disregard for Emma’s trauma. Utterly disgraceful.

Why the focus on accessing women's refuges? LM is at it too. I know many women who have been in refuges for safety, or volunteered and worked in them, but it doesn't get shouted about. Such actions are discreet for good reason. Men don't get it.

Time to leave this conversation, and celebrate the fact that your attempt at changing things has failed, and all you have done is make yourselves look fools, I just hope none of you ever have a child that comes out as Trans be it male or female, as I can only imagine the way that child would be treated, Time to go and check whats in my pants tonight, I am sure it was a fanny last time I looked, But who knows I could have a penis and pair of balls,

OlennasWimple · 06/03/2018 23:38

Yes, women who call themselves transmen are completely welcome in all female spaces. What with being female, and all.

Even if they wear a stetson

Steady on - we've never discussed stetson wearing here... I'm not sure I am OK with stetson wearing...

Who do you think is changing things?
You think you can spontaneously grow male genitals?

See, this is why people support trans activism.

Mouthtrousersafrocknowandthen · 06/03/2018 23:43

@sallyannemum

We haven't lost anything.

a child that comes out as Trans be it male or female

Well you kinda hit the nail on the head there. Shame you are just going to shout and run.

JenniferJames · 06/03/2018 23:44

This is the great thing about grassroots activism... we all come at it from different angles. We don't HAVE to agree on tactics, or arrange things top-down by committee as it is our CAUSE which unites us. A holistic approach, as it were.

Respect and Solidarity to all my sisters sticking their necks out on this one. There may be a backlash from yr CLP friends... if so... they weren't your friends.

thebewilderness · 06/03/2018 23:45

Go quick sallyanne, quick before the mods catch you.

WooWooSister · 06/03/2018 23:45

I'm not a Labour party member but did donate to the crowdfunding campaign.
I just wanted to thank all of you who are members and who are resigning despite the abuse from the handmaidens, sock-puppets, MRAs and TRAs. Flowers

Kneedeepinunicorns · 06/03/2018 23:46

How many times now has 'you've lost' been said? Its starting to sound like the baddie in a James Bond movie.

Lost what? Why do you see this as win/lose? Why are you so desperate to convince us we're powerless? If you believed that you wouldn't be here ranting and flouncing.

terryleather · 06/03/2018 23:49

Can I just say I am absolutely not okay with the Stetson wearing...

WooWooSister · 06/03/2018 23:50

It's funny because it implies we had something to lose. I wonder what that was? Under-representation in parliament; under-paid in every sector; crippling stereotypes? Let's hope we lose all of those.

TerfyMcTerface · 06/03/2018 23:54

Judging by the ploppers tonight, men are getting worried about who’s going to do the grunt work of delivering the election leaflets. I’ve had a couple of missed calls this week from the woman who coordinates this in my area. I look forward to telling her that I won’t even be voting Labour this time, and that DH wont deliver them either because, you know, he’s a bloke and always ducks out of that kind of thing.

I am so impressed at the work of all at the relentless clever positioning going on here.
I have to regularly censor myself with extreme empaths as I'm too far stylistically a sarcastic humorist, I deliver too much irony. In real life I have to be as straight as a die, but I am also extremely direct most of the time, can't waste time shuffling, I work with the most aggressive men on the planet so I would just be a coffee fetcher if I did not speak straight. Tits or no tits. No one made me a girl. Still not playing by imaginary girl rules. Playing by human rules.

MorrisZapp · 06/03/2018 23:59

Get this fucker banned already, for the love of god.

I feel you and I also feel for you too.
I cannot count how many times I have told myself no, Rose, do not do it.
After all these years on the interwebs and I am still a sucker for a troll.

Terftastic · 07/03/2018 00:10

"Jennifer James you are history,"

Never! Not on our watch. Jennifer James is alive and kicking. GO Jennifer Thanks

Terftastic · 07/03/2018 00:15

now just what is she going to do with all that cash she raised

She's already said. Skiing in the alps. No - not really! not that Wink Grin She's raising a legal challenge to Labour for breaching the Equality Act. Letters sent.

I hate twatty trolls too - but to leave them unanswered could be interpreted as acquiescence.

Mouthtrousersafrocknowandthen · 07/03/2018 00:21

I had no idea having tits made me sub human until I joined the Royal Navy in 1981. Fortunately I did not have the same perception of my self that I encountered on joining having grown up in remote countryside with three brothers. I raced for the RN and Royal marines in a sport where skill was all that mattered. I made sex irrelevant. When women in the RN were on women's pay scales. I walked straight through the perception that women are less than men restrictions by not being less than men.

Men are not doing the same thing to women now. Men are not saying that they don't need to compete on a level playing field. They are saying the opposite to that. They are saying they will defeat women because they can and will use inherent maleness. They make everything every woman have done to compete meaningless. They are cheats. I achieved on men's terms because I had no choice. They are not doing that. Do not give them this choice.

Don’t report sallyanne’s posts anyone - she’s comedy gold Grin

100 years, 100 resignations. Get it now?

PositivelyPERF · 07/03/2018 00:30

It’s hilarious that the TRAs MRAs are so convinced we’re losing and care so little about what we have to say, that they feel the need to invade Mumsnet. Of course we’re no threat, that’s why they constantly tell us how we should behave and how we should think. 😏 Just to let you know lads, Stepford Wives was a work of fiction. Real women aren’t as easy to brainwash.
