What on earth is going to happen to women?

I’m actually really worried. In the past couple of weeks I’ve seen Theresa May’s speech on how being transgender is not an illness, on how they will be given equal rights including access to vinerable women’s spaces. I’ve seen labour following suit, criticising Margaret Thatchers speech about homosexuality and likening it to the transgender movement, saying they won’t get it wrong. It’s not the same at all! What is going to happen to women in all this? It seems their rights will be pushed to one side and I’m actually rather worried. Can enough of us stand up to be heard?

What do you suggest women athletes do, just quit and go home? Or women in psychiatric units? Women are making a fuss because its already happened.

That’s ok, you don’t actually have to be on twitter to google search something on it I believe? (Pretty sure I lurked for a while before joining it)

If all this goes through it’s probably going to be much safer in the men’s toilets. All the perverts/opotunists/AGP’s/rapists will be in the women’s.

NameChanger22 · 04/03/2018 21:06

I want it to be discussed, it's interesting. I just don't see it as a problem yet. What is a sea lion?

Riverside2 · 04/03/2018 21:07

NameChanger22 "I know men are bastards"

I really can't reconcile this with the fact that you aren't taking any of these concerns seriously. Yes, they are. This is exactly why giving them legal access to women's spaces is a huge problem.

I've mentioned Parliament several times, but you've not answered so I have to conclude you're just here to say "mine is the only experience that counts".

PositivelyPERF · 04/03/2018 21:08

I know bellasuewow, I just wanted to prove it beyond a doubt. There are so many TRAs on here, they become quite obvious, don’t they. 🤣p

Patodp · 04/03/2018 21:08

"but I'm a woman and I need access to your cubicle" then I'll start to worry, I'll also eat my hat. Not going to happen

That's how all of these crimes were possible.
It has happened. It is happening.

NameChanger22 · 04/03/2018 21:10

Well, thanks for raising my awareness. I'll let you know when I spot a man in the ladies loos.

2rebecca · 04/03/2018 21:12

I don't know what a sea lion is either, apart from an actual sea lion. It took me a while to understand what a sock puppet was, I presume a sea lion is similar but different. I don't think these terms are helpful and they just antagonise people. Someone on a different feminist chat thread kept wittering on about fishes and I didn't get that either.

InHibernationTilISummer · 04/03/2018 21:12

I can't imagine why us silly women are worried about letting males into our spaces. I mean what could possibly go wrong?:

NameChanger22 · 04/03/2018 21:14

I'm assuming the term sea lion is an insult?

Riverside2 · 04/03/2018 21:15

there's probably a better pic for sea lion but here's one that should be okay to read...

Truscum · 04/03/2018 21:15

But it already is happening!

Mediocre men in sport are ‘transitioning’ and hands down beating and cheating professional sportswomen right out of their own sport.

Men are trying to gain access to women’s prisons by claiming they are now ‘women’. Do you remember Ian Huntley? Do you think he should get into a women’s prison?

Men are taking positions that were created for women to balance inequality in politics. Have you heard of Lily Madigan? All women shortlist’s?

It’s all starting to happen now, which is why now is the time to start worrying about it. It’s too late when those rights have gone, it’s a hell of a lot harder to gain them back than it is to protect them.

I’m furious and terrified and they aren’t even my rights! But they are the rights of my mother, my sisters, my nieces, my friends. And the truth is they are desperately needed.

Look at how many women get attacked in public right now. What on earth is going to happen when laws in place to help protect them from that are removed?

This is a link to the original sea lion cartoon.

Patodp · 04/03/2018 21:16

A sea lion knows what a sea lion is.
And they know when they've been spotted.
So that's the main thing.

(It's someone pretending faux innocence by asking pointless stupid questions that divert the discussion away from it's point.) (No idea why they're called sea lions though).

Riverside2 · 04/03/2018 21:17

for anyone who is lurking, I actually wouldn't advise going on Twitter to find out more about this - it's full of spoofs and then there are people who are so mad you think they are spoofs...it's far too confusing and I'm a Twitter regular.

the easiest starting point is probably here as per my other post

Is a sea lion an annoying person that asks questions?

CuriousaboutSamphire · 04/03/2018 21:17

Sea Lioning is what Namechange has been doing for some time!

Sea-Lioning is an Internet slang term referring to intrusive attempts at engaging an unwilling debate opponent by feigning civility and incessantly requesting evidence to back up their claims.

So disingenuous, so very polite, so very, very silly!

starzig · 04/03/2018 21:17

I am so glad I am not as precious. I have NEVER had issues in a communal toilet. However did get some verbal abuse from ladies in a ladies. Just walked out and got in with my life.

Patodp · 04/03/2018 21:18

Arch! I thought you were going!

Patodp · 04/03/2018 21:19

Look. ... swimming fishes

over there!

thebewilderness · 04/03/2018 21:19

I suggest that they be treated like "the missing stair" once they are identified. Another internet meme you could google if you actually wanted to understand what people are talking about.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 04/03/2018 21:19

Let's see....

Oh heavens yes, all those ‘precious’ women and children who have been raped and assaulted in public toilets.

Naturally if it had happened to you it would matter, but those snowflakes should just have pulled up their knickers and carried on wot wot.

And fancy being concerned about it happening at all. It’s so silly.

Everyone knows men hardly ever rape women, not ones that aren’t asking for it anyway.

(Someone hand me a sick bucket)
