"If you’re a Mum and on mn that often to have time to engage with ‘feminist’ forums, you’re more likely to be a ‘stay at home mum’. These are bored middle-class women putting their privileged Uni-educated thoughts to oppressing a small, vulnerable, oppressed sector of society"

Nice bit of sexism going on there

but I suppose those individuals claim to represent will feel vindicated... So much for an expensive education!

but I suppose those individuals who claim to represent a whole community will feel vindicated...

TammySwansonTwo · 25/02/2018 12:53

Well I am a Mum and I do stay at home I suppose... except I’m working, taking care of twins, one of whom has a disability, and coping with three debilitating conditions myself (two of which appear to be triggered by a drug now being pushed as harmless puberty blockers on to developing children).

Clearly I’m just bored because of aaaaaall this free time I have.

WiseOldHag · 25/02/2018 12:54

"If you’re a Mum and on mn that often to have time to engage with ‘feminist’ forums, you’re more likely to be a stay at home mum. These are bored- middle-class - women putting their privileged -Uni-educated thoughts to oppressing a small, vulnerable, oppressed sector of society"

"Mum" ? - yes - though not on MN because I have time on my hands - my children have grown up and left the nest. I'm here because it is the only place on the internet where discussion is allowed about concerns over this subject.

"bored"? - no - (I have a career to keep my mind busy)

"middle class"? - no - manual labourer father, state school education, Labour Party member.

"Woman"? - yes - definitely. Had a DNA test - it shows I have XX chromosomes. Oh - and I have a womb, ovaries, a vagina, and have given birth a few times. When I was a child I was a Girl.

"Privileged" ? - Yes - I have a roof over my head and food on the table. That's not something everyone has in the UK today.

"Uni-educated" ? - Yes - I have a degree, & two post-graduate degrees, and am a chartered professional twice over in unrelated disciplines.

"oppressing a small, vulnerable, oppressed sector of society" - no - these are very dangerous people with a voice and influence our of all proportion to their numbers.

Have I been brainwashed?
I suppose if one of you did accidentally on purpose brainwash me I wouldn't remember you doing it, would I.

Todayissunny · 25/02/2018 12:55

Whether a sahm or paying someone else to look after your kids it's still usually women that do the childcare stuff anyway.

Are you boring and bored if you are one of the many people paid to look after kids?

AssignedPuuurfectAtBirth · 25/02/2018 12:55

Uh oh

Helen is slagging me off for 'stalking' her.

twitter.com/mimmymum/status/967739982139019264

"OMG it’s hilarious! In case there was any doubt that Mumsnet TERFs are stalking me on social media, they’ve just posted a new MN topic about my tweet! 😳😂 (waves at ‘AsignedPuuurfectAtBirth’👋🏻 Hope you’re having fun screenshotting my tweets?😆)"

Likewise, sweetie. Now, how did you find this?

This one is particularly good:

"As parents, you’d think they’d have better things to do with their time. The ones that work full time should surely be enjoying a bit of family time. I’d love to hear what their kids and husbands think (assuming men aren’t allowed in MumsNet)."

Says Diane.

Might have to start on the Gin early, Diane love. Having way too much fun. Guess it's cornflakes for the kids and DH. And no lavvies getting cleaned in this house today

Hang on, is that a TiM claiming credit for other men's inventions? So they accept they ARE men, after all? Good good....and I take it these men will also like to share the blame for all the evil that men commit too, in that case? If they want to share the credit, they can also share the blame, so I'm sure they understand now why women do not want ANY men in our spaces!

UpstartCrow · 25/02/2018 12:56

Reading things you write on social media is stalking now?

SophoclesTheFox · 25/02/2018 12:56

Exactly, queen. It's one of the many, many elements of being a woman that is seemingly beneath contempt for your average transactivist.

Despite it being something that millions of women do, and are. It's never about identifying your way into wifework, is it? It's never about demanding the right to be expected to know how to lift a wee stain out of the carpet, or to remember their partner's sister's birthday or when the cat needs wormed.

I've never seen a TRA demand a pay cut, either.

Weird, eh.

holycheeseplant · 25/02/2018 12:56

It appears to be actually impossible for any of those tweeters to comment without being sexist or mysoginistic.

Which says buckets about the entire ideology really.

turnipfarmers · 25/02/2018 12:58

My child in year 7 is expected to produce arguments with more structure, justification, and explanation than that in each sentence in the essays they write.

UpstartCrow · 25/02/2018 12:58

holycheeseplant Unless your hubby okayed that comment you should probably ask MN to delete it and go apologise to him.

SophoclesTheFox · 25/02/2018 13:00

And also, for the record, I am not a mother, not staying at home, not bored and frequently don't have the time to be here. I will cop to being uni-educated, though I'm not quite sure why that disqualifies me from having an opinion.

The misogyny just shines through. Eurgh, mothers, eurgh, boring, eurgh, all they know about is nappies and bedtime, eurgh. Grow up, kid. Grow up.

MrsOvarall · 25/02/2018 13:01

Wow! Really showing your true colours there, Mermaids!

Informed discussion on MN FWR flies under the radar because people like Susie Green dismiss and belittle us as irrelevant mummies.

It's unwise to attack a group of people with legitimate concerns about the off label use of puberty blockers and pathway to sterilisation of healthy gay kids. And well founded worries about predatory non trans males using self ID to access single sex female spaces.

Susie is publicising these boards. Anyone who comes here can make up their own minds. The evidence, research and statistics overwhelmingly urge caution. They do not support Mermaids' approach IMO.

MN quite rightly deletes anything even approaching hatred and transphobia. I would not post here if they didn't.

turnipfarmers · 25/02/2018 13:02

Sent this reply on twitter:

If you are a TRA who has time to engage on twitter, you're more likely to be a bitter, twisted individual. These are bored middle-class people putting their privileged Uni-educated thoughts to oppressing a sector of society that they are jealous of.

MrsOvarall · 25/02/2018 13:02

Sorry, Helen from Mermaids NOT Susie Green.

Thishatisnotmine · 25/02/2018 13:03

I work, five days a week in an admin role. Have to daughters. Didn't go to uni. I like to think I am middle class but my bank balance suggests otherwise. I think that some peoples' attitudes towards trans men and women imare bad as homophobia or racism or misogyny. However I am concerned about how far self idenitication is going. I saw it in passing here and read into it myself to form my own opinions. That's right, no university education but I did my own research!

Thishatisnotmine · 25/02/2018 13:05

*two

I think I might have slightly nodded off while I was posting.

womanhuman · 25/02/2018 13:06

Man here! Female bodied, uni educated mum-man. Also chief wife worker as I somehow didn’t manage to identify out of that.

holycheeseplant · 25/02/2018 13:08

holycheeseplant Unless your hubby okayed that comment you should probably ask MN to delete it and go apologise to him.

Whoops I'm not womening properly today.

Actually Dh has taken our son out and doing the shopping as I've got a bad cough/ asthma and trying to get on with work from home, mn when trying to breathe clearly and putting my feet up as I'm heavily preggers and have delightful varicose veins. I guess he's the pink person with pig tails today and I'm the dark snot coloured one. With a pink tummy.

OrderOnline · 25/02/2018 13:12

No degree here, it is not required to see through lies. Confused

ALunerExplorer · 25/02/2018 13:13

Actually this came up a couple of days ago here on another thread - when an article from The Federalist was shared here (who are one of the right wing online news outlets associated with it).

I googled it at the time: handsacrosstheaislewomen.com/

Whoever the tweeter is, she's right in as much as those organisations are amongst the feminists + orgs listed as participating. Individuals listed include Helen Lewis, it seems to have been set up about this time last year.

I certainly don't recall any of the feminist orgs or individuals publically stating individually that they had joined up with this, so whether or not they would have preferred not to be too vocal about it for any reason (like how it would look to be working directly with people and organisations whose hard right agenda is pretty explicit), wouldn't be for me to comment.

I think it wasCpnHaddock who was the mn poster who mentioned it.

TellsEveryoneRealFacts · 25/02/2018 13:13

I wouldn't let any of the mermaids lot anywhere near children to be honest. They should be investigated, not government funded.

It will all come out in the end...lawsuits from kids who grew up and worked it out and who by then are sterile and have no genitals to speak of. Vile creatures the lot of them.

NonHypotheticalLurkingParent · 25/02/2018 13:14

Hang on, so someone who posts a lot on Twitter is saying people who post a lot on Mumsnet are bored middle-aged women? Are people on Twitter not boring or middle-aged, or can you now identify out of such things?

holycheeseplant · 25/02/2018 13:14

That's net mums hun.

This is what Helen from Mermaids writes about MN feminist posters
