"If you’re a Mum and on mn that often to have time to engage with ‘feminist’ forums, you’re more likely to be a ‘stay at home mum’. These are bored middle-class women putting their privileged Uni-educated thoughts to oppressing a small, vulnerable, oppressed sector of society"

Nice bit of sexism going on there

Another FWR thread in trending, just like buses.

Thanks for the traffic, Helen! Stick around, lurkers, we have Gin

smithsinarazz · 25/02/2018 13:16

You can always tell the people who've run out of arguments. They stop debating the message and start attacking the messengers.
That's what all the "no-platforming" is about.

DaisyDrip · 25/02/2018 13:19

I think they're all mad as a box of frogs tbh.

I have all the time in the world to MN. My kids are all grown and have flown the nest and I'm a widow.

More time to put the word out about what is happening to woman by men.

Elendon · 25/02/2018 13:19

I work part time, need to increase my hours after years of being a carer to my son. I've just mopped the kitchen floor, vacuumed, cleaned the toilet, and hung out two loads of washing.

Obviously I should be taking the scissors out to cut the grass and never spend time on social media.

Tonight I will be sewing/mending. Speaking to a relative regarding getting accommodation for my daughter who starts a fabulous new job soon.

I'm just such a lazy person.

CircleSquareCircleSquare · 25/02/2018 13:20

The more and more I read about or from TRAs, the more I believe they do not want to be educated.

The baby making version of women should just shut the fuck up.

Elendon · 25/02/2018 13:23

'Enjoying a bit of family time'

Smiles beatifically at children (who look at me as if I need to go and see the doctor).

QueenLaBeefah · 25/02/2018 13:24

It really is quite incredible how all of them seems to have used sexist stereotypes to back up their arguments.

Also, just how incredibly thick Helen seems to be.

Freshlylaidterf · 25/02/2018 13:26

I do have a degree, but I was almost thirty when I started it. It doesn't make me privileged
Same here. Not mc , def not bored. Tbh I think she is scared

TheSockGoblin · 25/02/2018 13:29

Although, it's always quite funny when people spend time on social media slagging off other people for spending time on social media.

holycheeseplant · 25/02/2018 13:30

It really is quite incredible how all of them seems to have used sexist stereotypes to back up their arguments.

Stereotyping is all they know how to do. If they were aware of the nature of stereotypes and how they work, they wouldn't be as pro TRA as they are.

OlennasWimple · 25/02/2018 13:30

More evidence, I suppose, that we aren't doing womaning properly. If only there were someone to put us right...

DaisyDrip · 25/02/2018 13:31

Although, it's always quite funny when people spend time on social media slagging off other people for spending time on social media.

Indeed.

Personwithhorse · 25/02/2018 13:31

Probably a Momentum supporter, they are pretty nasty.

I have only read a bit about Mermaids they sound dangerous

PaleBlueMoonlight · 25/02/2018 13:32

The implication is that she doesn’t want people who have the time to think about things to think about this. I wonder why...

MrsJoshDun · 25/02/2018 13:32

How ironic that she’s stalking you on MN while talking about you stalking her on Twitter! Grin

Love the comment from Diane was it telling us women what we should be doing with ourselves at the weekend, “family time” aka, look after the man and the kids. And people wonder why I’m a feminist? Hope all these TIMs will be spending all their free time running around after the man in their life and any kids once they’ve transitioned. God forbid as a woman you should do anything else with your life.

I also appear to be blocked by her on twitter. Never heard of her before but I view the opinion of people from mermaids with the same amusement I view Flat Earthers’ opinions. So I’m not crying into my latte about being blocked.

SimonBridges · 25/02/2018 13:32

Not a mum.
Work full time.
Have a degree.

How did you find this thread then, Helen if you are going to get pissy about other people reading stuff you post on Twitter? Equally public forums.
To think that MN is the home of ‘bored housewives’ is dreadful misogyny.

AssignedPuuurfectAtBirth · 25/02/2018 13:33

Luner

There was lots of discussion here about the debate that Hands Across the Aisle facilitated when it was released last year. The tweeter is Kaelley Triller.
twitter.com/KaeleyT

Have a look at her pinned tweet, it's a fine read.

I wouldn't expect to agree with her on economics. Probably not abortion. But I agree with her on this.

If you think you can shame me into not allying with other women who have different political opinions on other issues, you are very much mistaken.

In fact, the level of full on partisan politics is half the reason we are in this mess.

Her tweets on this are great. And btw, the chap in the photo on her bio is Ryan Anderson, who just released 'When Harry Became Sally', which appears removing scales from eyes in the States. Out here next month.

Family time?!

Im hiding in my office with some uni work and a packet of hobnobs. DH is the master of family time. I might re emerge when he has cooked dinner. But not until.

I could identify as a man, but then id have to cook

DaisyDrip · 25/02/2018 13:39

Ah but nauticant you don't understand. TRA are allowed to make veiled threats as and when they choose, woman should just shut up. Terry Davis doesn't worry me one iota.

OrderOnline · 25/02/2018 13:42

Just back from basting the potatoes and beef.

Instead of looking on here, I guess I should artfully enhance myself with chicken fillets and Blackcomb my hair?

SimonBridges · 25/02/2018 13:42

"As parents, you’d think they’d have better things to do with their time. The ones that work full time should surely be enjoying a bit of family time. I have no family other than DH.
I’d love to hear what their kids and husbands think (assuming men aren’t allowed in MumsNet)."
Men are allowed thanks, although please define man.

I give not a shit what my husband thinks as I am a grown ass woman who is allowed my own opinion. What does your husband think.

hackmum · 25/02/2018 13:42

Mimmymum isn't the brightest lamp on the street, is she?

It's always depressing to see how quick many women are to put down other women by using stereotypes. Mothers are a particular focus for hate, particularly if they are middle-class, stay at home, or both. Obviously middle-aged women are "menopausal" (some kind of crime, apparently), white women are "privileged", and older women are just past it. It never seems to occur to these women that one day they will be middle-aged, or mothers, or middle-class, or old.

If you're man, being a father or middle-aged is fine, of course.

MaverickSnoopy · 25/02/2018 13:43

Wow. So we're being noticed then. We must be worrying them or they wouldn't talk about it.

FlaviaAlbia · 25/02/2018 13:43

Yes OlennasWimple

What a complete tool. It reminds me a bit of that thread where a teenage boy came on and tried to explain the internet to us. It was beyond his tiny mind that some of the women here had been working in IT before he were born Grin
