"If you’re a Mum and on mn that often to have time to engage with ‘feminist’ forums, you’re more likely to be a ‘stay at home mum’. These are bored middle-class women putting their privileged Uni-educated thoughts to oppressing a small, vulnerable, oppressed sector of society"

Nice bit of sexism going on there

You'd think, wouldn't you, that if they had even the smallest argument, they would come on here and put it forward.

But nope.

mooncuplanding · 25/02/2018 12:23

How rude about SAHM 😱😱

Why would their opinion be worth any less than the TIM's?

I don't think anyone should justify or defend their economic status to that wanker

Wanderingwomb · 25/02/2018 12:23

Same old familiar misogyny.

HerFemaleness · 25/02/2018 12:28

In other words, don't listen to us or treat our concerns seriously because we're just a bunch of bored middle class mummy's. Oh no, trans activism isn't misogynistic AT ALL Hmm

Datun · 25/02/2018 12:28

Same old familiar misogyny.

We'll quite.

If you're claiming that transgender rights should impact those of women, it's not very smart to slag off potentially 12 million women who are on a forum where it's being debated.

Then add a not so veiled threat about your mobile phone privacy being breached!!!

Nuffaluff · 25/02/2018 12:28

I’m surprised she didn’t accuse us all of being white as well. That’s usually in there.

LadyLance · 25/02/2018 12:32

Not a mum- I post on mumsnet because it is one of the few forums with a genuinely feminine perspective on issues I care about, as well as a supportive atmosphere when looking for help in other areas.

I guess I'm middle class though.

I'm currently in the process of changing careers.

Can we report her to the police for a hate crime against women Wink

Frombothsidesnow · 25/02/2018 12:34

I find the insult of 'Uni-educated' the most troubling bit. Just more of the very damaging anti-intellectualism of our current society, peddling the idea that those with degrees don't understand 'real people'. A degree doesn't make you anything 'other'. It doesn't necessarily make you more intelligent than someone without one, but a decent university education should equip you with analytical skills and the ability to weigh sources of information and come to your own conclusions. That sort of thinking is what worries populists, and Mermaids appears to be that sort of organisation. Along with too many others IMO.

holycheeseplant · 25/02/2018 12:35

There there wimmin, you're all just feeling a bit hormonal. Have another digestive and carry on with your threads on knitting, menopause and parking issues.

The sexist, mysoginistic attitude that WOMEN mustn't have their own, well educated, well reasoned and thought through views and opinions and be able to discuss them - and we don't always agree with each other (but don't shout bigot n block) is, well, oh so familiar... I wonder from where? 🤔

ps nc, like children who get more done when dressed as batman, I get a bit more ranty under this name

TerfyMcTerface · 25/02/2018 12:35

Love the idea that education = oppression. I have theee degrees. I guess that makes me Hitler.

LinoleumBlownapart · 25/02/2018 12:35

Women with opinions must be silenced with insults, always have been, always will be.

Same old misogyny, different outfit.

Follyfoot · 25/02/2018 12:37

I cant take anyone who wears 2 jammy dodgers as a bikini top seriously.

holycheeseplant · 25/02/2018 12:39

And women mustn't be educated cos then they'd be able to have opinions backed by research and analytical though.

Nuffaluff · 25/02/2018 12:39

For those posting how many degrees you’ve got on here, I think that’s what she’s criticising us for. Being uni-educated, not uneducated. Means we’re privileged apparently. Being educated is now a bad thing. Perhaps she didn’t go to university, so knows better.
I am from a working class background, went to university. Luckily it was at a time when I received a full grant. I had no financial support from parents, but had to get loans and work while I studied.
I also work too now. Not that there’s anything wrong with being a SAHM.

QueenLaBeefah · 25/02/2018 12:40

More evidence that the trans agenda is really about makeup and clothes as they seem to sneer at the grunt work a lot of women do everyday.

SunsetBeetch · 25/02/2018 12:42

I'm blocked by her. Never even interacted with her and my Twitter @ is different from my mumsnet username. Cowardly gobshite, the lot of them.

BarrackerBarmer · 25/02/2018 12:43

I could have sworn 'mimmymum' used to post on here but I can't seem to find any posts using search. Have I imagined this?

AssignedPuuurfectAtBirth · 25/02/2018 12:43

Quite Queen. SAHMs really are the scum of the earth according to them. Wiping up bums and puke and cleaning lavs. Who the fuck would want to do that? You could break a nail doing that and then how would anyone know that we are real ladies?

OP posts:
QueenLaBeefah · 25/02/2018 12:46

Yeah, SAHMs might break into a sweat and all the makeup would melt off so we can't have that.

AssignedPuuurfectAtBirth · 25/02/2018 12:47

Sunset

I am blocked too but if you put her handle into a private/incognito window, you can see all.

It's a wonder how us tech-ignorant wimmen would know such a thing though. Warning: they do write a pile of unmitigated shite though. I'm only looking because there are lavvies to be cleaned

AssignedPuuurfectAtBirth · 25/02/2018 12:48

She posted as Helensomething for a bit too barracker

Well...

Also not a mum
Also know a couple of transgendered people and a few gender fluid, have done since about 1980, nothing new there!
Full time employment, forever
Middle class by today's standards, from a very working class family
Do have degrees, done as an adult, supported by husband, as I supported him through his
Bored... not really, just taking a break from working - something you have to do at weekends when self employed (or teacher, as I used to be)

And none of the weirdly twisted bollocks posted on that twitter feed applies to me, nor makes much sense really!

I think I am way past Peak Trans and am now descending into Ineffably Sad.

Such selfish tripe will do untold harm to many people, but I suppose those individuals claim to represent will feel vindicated... even if none of the trans people I know will be any less horrified than I am!

Collidascope · 25/02/2018 12:51

Aren't most of us trans anyway, according to Mermaids' terminology? They wanna watch out. Soon we'll be infiltrating their movement, accusing them of having trans privilege for obviously being trans while we are constantly called cis, and rendering their words meaningless (though of course most of them already are).

holycheeseplant · 25/02/2018 12:52

Apparently we are supposed to be enjoying 'family time'.

Women should just shut up.

AstraiaLiberty · 25/02/2018 12:52

Also not a mum
Very working class
Occasionally bored. Not by feminist discussion on MN, though.
Don't like or have any cats
I do have a degree, but I was almost thirty when I started it. It doesn't make me privileged.

I don't think that being a middle-class SAHM would make my views any more or less valid, though. I'm just irritated by Helen's lazy stereotyping.
