"If you’re a Mum and on mn that often to have time to engage with ‘feminist’ forums, you’re more likely to be a ‘stay at home mum’. These are bored middle-class women putting their privileged Uni-educated thoughts to oppressing a small, vulnerable, oppressed sector of society"

Nice bit of sexism going on there

Sigh. Was born, not were.

smithsinarazz · 25/02/2018 13:45

Oh, by the way, Helen, I think my son might be left-handed. Should I :
a) tell him off for using his left hand (conversion therapy)
b) arrange for his right hand to be disabled, so that he's got a socially-acceptable excuse for using his right (reassignation therapy)
c) do nothing at all, because some people are left-handed?
Answers please..

AskBasil · 25/02/2018 13:45

Well they're obviously watching this thread so:

If an adult has a penis he's a man

If a child has a penis he's a boy

Mammals cannot change sex.

Encouraging children to believe that they are born in the wrong body because they don't think, feel or behave like sexist stereotypes, is child abuse.

That should do for now.

holycheeseplant · 25/02/2018 13:47

Its so mysoginistic and male. Ive never ever seen a woman post a threat like that.

We're all just basically taking the piss out of the stereotypes they've labelled us with.

They don't get the sexism thing, they think highlighting privilege through education isn't sexist. Kinda forgotten how many women in the past had to fight for equal education and how many girls today aren't able to access it, being female, including due to their active biology (periods.)

And as said upthread, it doesn't take a degree to see through lies and double think. My degree had no baring on my beliefs today. My experience working with young children did.

UpstartCrow · 25/02/2018 13:48

nauticant That undermines the 'paranoia' tweet in a pretty nasty way. Interesting username as well.

Terftastic · 25/02/2018 13:51

Hi Helen, thanks for publicising Mumsnet Smile

You can't block us here - so you may find a variety of views and discussions that are outside the realm of your Terf-Blocked Twitter bubble Wink

Yours sincerely,

A middle class, uni-educated, gender critical, SAHM who is never bored.

Alltheprettyseahorses · 25/02/2018 13:51

That Helresa thinks he's so bright, but he seems to have forgotten that people can screenshot his tweets. He's made himself Suspect No. 1 if anything like that happens to someone he argues with. Maybe he should try to think a bit faster.

AskBasil · 25/02/2018 13:51

What is their problem with women having degrees?
Is this another bizarre policy or just one of their spokespeople being sexist on Twitter?

MrsJoshDun · 25/02/2018 13:52

Funny isn’t it how Mermaids is all about the sexist stereotypes.

Not just on their twitter comments about Mumsnetters but also in their belief that if a boy likes pink and wants to play with dolls he must be a girl and should be pumped full of hormones.

AssignedPuuurfectAtBirth · 25/02/2018 13:54

Helen is a woman. With a FtM child I think.

Hello! Thanks to the steer from Helen, I've decided to join in on Mumsnet.

Looking forward to chatting with all you idle ' pearl clutchers' :)

weekfour · 25/02/2018 13:55

Ah, so now even the bloody mermaids are attacking stay at home mums! Next time they’re looking for a group of women that experience prejudice, they can use SAHM’s as their example. I’m feeling pretty under attack!

Frombothsidesnow · 25/02/2018 13:56

Disturbed by the stay at home father who thinks the only valid criticism of gender critical posters on MN is that they are 'mums'. The only criticism.

Datun · 25/02/2018 13:57

The ones that work full time should surely be enjoying a bit of family time. I’d love to hear what their kids and husbands think (assuming men aren’t allowed in MumsNet)."

Good Lord. This is 2018, for heaven's sake.

These attitudes are so parochial.

What on earth happened to this generation?

I'm so glad I'm not growing up now, with all this blatant sexism and outdated ideas.

LangCleg · 25/02/2018 13:58

In fairness, the OP's tweet is quite the model of restraint in the context of Helen's usual output. I have sometimes wondered whether she will become the first actually authenticated case of spontaneous human combustion.

Mogleflop · 25/02/2018 13:58

If I were them, I'd be scared of educated older people online too.

Must be much easier to hoodwink confused teens and young adults.

If they were actually confident they wouldn't need to goad places like Mumsnet, they'd ignore them.

MrsJoshDun · 25/02/2018 13:58

Well I hope Helen isn’t a bored, SAHM.

And if she’s a WOHM then surely she should be running round after her kids and man at the weekend rather than Tweeting? After all weekend time is family time girls!

StereophonicallyChallenged · 25/02/2018 13:59

Thought you were typing in yorkshire speak then flavia Grin

I'd think those Twitter accounts were funny if there wasn't such and undercurrent of hatred and violence running through them Sad

SimonBridges · 25/02/2018 14:00

I’ve worked it out. Helen is unhappy being female and all the shit that brings with it - like mental load, child care etc.
Her way of dealing with that is to lash out at the people she perceives typify all that is is to be a woman - namely us lot on MN.

What she doesn’t understand in her narrow minded stereotyped world is that many posters on here are not mothers, in fact some of us are men and some are even trans!

FlaviaAlbia · 25/02/2018 14:02

I suppose I can always identify as bring from Yorkshire StereophonicallyChallengedGrin

Welcome, welcome, welcome. Pour a Gin and enjoy.

I will take issue with the pearls, I have some left to me by my mum who was left them by her mum. My mum wore them, with me they'll likely never see the light of day.

IAmMatty · 25/02/2018 14:04

She's just a prick isn't she? Hmm

Datun · 25/02/2018 14:05

They don't get the sexism thing, they think highlighting privilege through education isn't sexist.

Exactly.

Are they seriously advocating for women not to be university educated????

Women must take care of their husbands and children, but, by the way, being a stay at home mum is a really boring privilege and makes your opinion worthless.

No wonder they want to redefine the word woman!

MrsOvarall · 25/02/2018 14:05

Hello neverfallingforitontwitter! Clip on your pearls and get stuck in.

doctorcuntybollocks · 25/02/2018 14:06

Practice saying things like Ey up, there's trouble on t'thread Flavia.
