I've had it with Lush

Sick of their virtue signalling. I've always admired their eco efforts and animal welfare stuff as there was an obvious connection but over the years they've got increasing more irritating and seem to be jumping on any topic which seems trendy.

I want to buy soap. Not subscribe to their politics. This for me was the last straw.

Oh bugger! I mean I meant to put As at the beginning. Ffs. Brain fog.

megletthesecond · 17/02/2018 11:40

Lush have form for top down ideas that just end up with customer facing staff getting shafted. When the hunt saboteur promotions came out I was so fed up with the aggro we got, was beyond caring about the bloody foxes by that point Blush.

Products are fab but management, HR and internal comms are shocking. They could do so much better.

DaisyDrip · 17/02/2018 11:46

I can't stand Lush products, they make me sneeze and leave glitter everywhere. My DD's love it though, I shall be having words. I know they will listen and just hope their love of woman's freedom and rights are more important than Lush products.

VaguelyAware · 17/02/2018 11:54

I stopped going to Lush several years ago - several reasons really. Price, constantly crowded. It was this blog that finally tipped me into boycotting them. I've since read more pieces on that blog site & its a bloody-opener... I strongly suspect that the animal free aspect is, like Body Shop, a marketing gimmick.

TheXXFactor · 17/02/2018 12:07

Check out what they're doing in the US:

"Women: you must always ensure you put men's needs first, even when buying shampoo". Angry

Agerbilatemycardigan · 17/02/2018 12:10

I left an angry comment on their site objecting to them calling women CIS. I was expecting to get torn to pieces for it, so was pleasantly surprised when a lot of people liked it.

AngryAttackKittens · 17/02/2018 12:14

It's a shampoo but it identifies as a conditioner...

Agerbilatemycardigan · 17/02/2018 12:21

And if you complain that your hair feels greasy, that's hate speech and literal violence.

UpstartCrow · 17/02/2018 12:29

Lush are the company that asked staff to turn up for work naked, to protest excess packaging Confused

AmazingGrace16 · 17/02/2018 12:34

I don't understand what the problem is? The booklets were on display next to a product specifically raising money for a trans charity so that people could help themselves if they wished.
The leaflet wasn't forced down people's throats or chucked in with every order.

What's the problem?

hipsterfun · 17/02/2018 12:40

No more Karma soap for me. Too bad.

PositivelyPERF · 17/02/2018 12:46

AmazingGrace16 they can support trans people all they like but they have no right to try their bullshite guilt trip on women and men with their ‘pets all be nice to the trans’ crap and the have no bloody right to call me ‘cis’! They can fuck of with their labelling of me, while supporting a community that scream about abuse while demanding we call men women.

PositivelyPERF · 17/02/2018 12:47

*please all be nice to trans’

OvaHere · 17/02/2018 12:47

The problem for me is that what was formerly a support movement for transsexual people with gender dysphoria has been hijacked and weaponised by Men's Rights Activists who now call themselves Trans Rights Activists and has become a movement that is about male supremacy and the subjugation of women.

Promotion of any other supremacy group would quite rightly create outrage.

Lovesagin · 17/02/2018 12:50

The problem is they are promoting and aligning themselves with a movement that, largely, tells little girls if they like cars and blue they are really a boy, and would tell my son that him having a Barbie doll means he's really a girl. A movement that agrees that Danielle muscato can have 2 women kicked out of a refuge for not being on board with having a man in a woman's with them. A movement that shouts for the rights of a man who assaulted a 60 year old woman for daring to exercise her right of free speech. A movement that wants the word mother removed from maternity literature in case it offends men. A movement that tells young lesbians they are transphobic if they don't want to suck cock because it's owner wears a wig and tells the lesbian they are a woman dammit! A movement that promotes the dangerous hormonal medication of children as young as 6 even though most children that age are too young for decent cough medicine.

I'm sure there are more, but hopefully that gives you an idea of why some pesky women don't think this is ok :)

mrsreynolds · 17/02/2018 12:51

Ah fuck 😡

So few bloody companies I'm not bloody boycotting - another t8 add to the list

Ffs

Oh well, my bank balance will be happy the lush prices have gone mental!

Can anyone recommend products for really sensitive - and in my sons case - atopic - skin??

😡😔

cista · 17/02/2018 12:56

Let's tweet and ask why they aren't selling it in their Middle East stores... Wink

EmpressOfJurisfiction · 17/02/2018 13:15

Some Middle East countries are very pro-trans, cista.

For gay men in Iran, the choice is transition or be executed.

WrenNatsworthy · 17/02/2018 13:20

Neals Yard remedies rose polish if you want a substitute for Angels on bare skin.
Lush aren't as squeaky clean eco wise as they claim to be anyway - check the good shopping guide for info.

Writersblock2 · 17/02/2018 13:21

Can we see what the booklet says? Damnit, I love Lush and I don’t want to stop shopping there.

WrenNatsworthy · 17/02/2018 13:21

@mrsreynolds

Am a therapist and use Neals Yard in my facials - Starflower range is second to none for skin that reacts to everything.

Shadowboy · 17/02/2018 13:26

I stopped shopping at Lush when they started to support the hunt sabs. Whilst I don’t hunt, I remember seeing how they treated hounds at a meet some years ago (one of the hounds died) so I felt they were actually worse than the hunt.

Seeing this just adds to my dislike of Lush.

mrsreynolds · 17/02/2018 13:34

Thank you wren
Sigh
I love lush stuff 😔

LadyMcLadyCrisps · 17/02/2018 13:37

Slow hand clap for this Soapy virtue signalling.

Well done lush, you are now on my ‘get to fuck’ list! thats the £100 per year I spend on my DD there gone.

TerfsUp · 17/02/2018 13:39

Lush can go pound sand. I will never ever again buy any of their products.
