I've had it with Lush

Sick of their virtue signalling. I've always admired their eco efforts and animal welfare stuff as there was an obvious connection but over the years they've got increasing more irritating and seem to be jumping on any topic which seems trendy.

I want to buy soap. Not subscribe to their politics. This for me was the last straw.

What. The. Fuck. Was that sent with your order?

Annabelle4 · 17/02/2018 10:37
Shock
ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 17/02/2018 10:40

Are you in the UK?

badgermushroom · 17/02/2018 10:40

Not mine, seen it doing the rounds on Twitter with a goady Tweet about how annoyed people will be Hmm.

But more info here (sorry for Metro link) www.google.co.uk/amp/metro.co.uk/2018/02/17/lush-launches-new-campaign-support-trans-rights-7319820/amp/

Yep UK I'm afraid.

Oh my bad! So far not in the UK. That's something but usually their lines come here later. Know that was the case for the LGBT soap and shark fin campaigns.

Aiming for the teenage girl market there with that one.

OvaHere · 17/02/2018 10:41

Wow. My young son loves Lush, he just spent a fair bit of birthday money in there. He is fairly GNC and I would be seriously unimpressed if he received this with a purchase.

Can you paste some of the booklet text so we can see what it actually says?

Lokisglowstickofdestiny · 17/02/2018 10:42

They produce the only shampoo that doesn't make my hair feel like an oil slick - guess I'll have to search out another one now.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 17/02/2018 10:42

Ah fuck, I thought it was just the US. Know any good substitutes for Angels on Bare Skin?

Lovesagin · 17/02/2018 10:43

I don't get it, one minute TRAs essentially say trans identified people don't exist because a man, with a man's body, a MAN is actually be a woman because he says so, so not trans at all, so why are allies needed for something that doesnt exist?

EmpressOfJurisfiction · 17/02/2018 10:44

And I was right on the verge of starting to buy their soap & shampoo bars.

Ordering online from a small family business now. It's more ethical that way anyway.

Lovesagin · 17/02/2018 10:46

Quite a few of us at work do bulk orders of around £200-300 every 2 months or so. I doubt it now when I share this with them.

GrimDamnFanjo · 17/02/2018 10:46

Lush is a pretty dubious business imho. Google Mitherings from Morningside for insiders views.

Stilllivinginazoo · 17/02/2018 10:46
YetAnotherSpartacus · 17/02/2018 10:52

I can't stand Lush anyway. It's the false and fake enthusiasm of the staff and the way that all of them have to read from the same script. I always want to go away and read Arlie Hochschild's work on emotional labour.

Hellywelly10 · 17/02/2018 11:14

I just don't like their products.

AngryAttackKittens · 17/02/2018 11:16

That soap? Bath bomb? Is hideous. If they're going to attempt propaganda they might at least try to make it look good.

PositivelyPERF · 17/02/2018 11:18

I give my middle child a £200 voucher for his birthday and Xmas, every year. Never again. They can fuck right off. I’ll be shopping around now. I also don’t use the body shop as they’re not vegan, yes I know that’s a different topic.

LifelongVaginaOwner · 17/02/2018 11:23

Lots of the Body Shop stuff is now vegan PositivelyPERF

Eolian · 17/02/2018 11:23

Wtaf? I'd just got back into buying their products.

expatinscotland · 17/02/2018 11:25

Unbelievable!

TheDishRanAwayWithTheSpoon · 17/02/2018 11:28

What the hell? Will be shopping elsewhere... I don't see how anyone would appreciate that, it's so patronising even if you want to consider yourself a transfer ally.

PositivelyPERF · 17/02/2018 11:29

LifelongVaginaOwner was a strict vegan I find the fact that they have advertised themselves as such an ethical animal loving company for decades while using none vegan products incredibly hypocritical, so until they are 100% vegan I’m afraid I can’t use them. If they had been upfront I wouldn’t have had the same issues with them, iykwim.

PositivelyPERF · 17/02/2018 11:30

Sorry I meant to put I at the beginning of my rant. 😁
