Jeremy Corbyn has a new enemy - Mumsnet

I’ve learned that there are some brilliant, learned and compassionate people out there, who come at this from all angles. One (purely anecdotal) observation is that the diversity of opinions within the trans-gender population is not remotely reflected in the bit of this conversation most visible at Westminster. The trans community’s opinions are not as homogenous as some reporting and discussion suggest. So here’s a tip for hacks covering this: don’t just book Paris Lees or talk about Lilly Madigan. Ask Kristina Harrison what she thinks. Or Tara Hewitt. Or lots of other people. The same goes for the ‘radical’ feminist side of this: there’s more to it than Germaine Greer. (Though for some media outlets that really should know better, having any voice from that side of the conversation at all would be an improvement.)

Some people have said nice things about some stuff I wrote about gender. Don’t want to sound ungrateful but it’s underserved: @VictoriaPeckham & @helenlewis & other women said it all first. But I get praise and they got abuse. Draw your own conclusions

I surely do. They are employed by psychopathic legal entities to cravenly serve the business class and its political wing.

Jeremy went on national tv and legitimized the mantra ‘TW are women’, there was no gun to his head, he did this all by himself. He sold you out Jennifer.

Are you going to sell out the women and girls in the Middle East who will survive and thrive once we get a Corbyn gov't which refuses trade arms with murderous regimes. Or don't those sort of women matter to you?

Oh god (dess) ! So if I don't agree with Lily et al does that mean I am a terf too ?

But because she can call me transphobic etc that's all right because she is standing up for trans(female) rights but not mine.

makeourfuture · 12/02/2018 19:02

Big tent.

Together.

boatyardblues · 12/02/2018 19:05

James Kirkup has written an excellent article, but I am particularly pleased he has acknowledged Janice Turner and Helen Lewis for laying the groundwork. Thank you James!

It's a shame that she can't see that it's not all about JC. Women are fighting for the right to exist as a unique and separate sex.

Agerbilatemycardigan · 12/02/2018 19:10

Bexhill next stop.

Agerbilatemycardigan · 12/02/2018 19:10

Sorry - wrong window 😳

bambambini · 12/02/2018 19:20

Frankly, single issues such as gender ID is a miniscule problem in comparison to what we should really be focussing on- housing for our children for example, affordable rents, and better paid jobs for them. No more zero hours contracts, no more £billions laundered by crooks through the London housing market......and the NHS properly staffed, and schools properly staffed and fewer managers who pay themselves more from school budgets because they don't know how to teach!

Agree those are all hugely important and I support them - i do however have a huge issue with being able to trust if Corbyn and Labour are up to the job of government if they are misguided enough to not even know what a woman is - or are too arrogant to care what women think on identity politics. If they reslly reslly buy into all this self id and that a woman can have a penis etc - then I won’t be voting for thrm.

TheGoldenBough · 12/02/2018 19:24

A few days ago I 'peaked' when I saw a man in a dress featured as an achievement for 100 years of womens votes.

Is that the BBC advert? I can't bear to watch it because a man wearing a dress/being able to legally call himself a woman is absolutely NOT a success for women's rights and absolutely NOT what the suffragettes sacrificed their lives for.

It wouldn't have been so bad if it had shown a transman because at least that would have shown that a person born a woman had the opportunity to become whatever she wanted to be - even if that were to become a man.

But I think the inclusion of a transwoman in that advert is an insult.

Lancelottie · 12/02/2018 19:25

I was wondering about the political significance of Bexhill, Gerbil!

TheGoldenBough · 12/02/2018 19:28

But because she can call me transphobic etc that's all right because she is standing up for trans(female) rights but not mine.

I don't even think he deserves the pronoun 'she' whikst he is so clearly acting against actual women.

He's an ignorant teenage boy.

misscockerspaniel · 12/02/2018 19:31

Thanks for the link. I never thought that I would be reading The Spectator.

Another transperson who has come out against TRAs is Nicole Church (not a TAAT but there was a thread a few days ago). It is worth reading their tweet of Feb 8 and the comments: twitter.com/shushingthecult

TheGoldenBough · 12/02/2018 19:37

If we, the Nicole Churches, gay men and lesbians all worked together, we'd be able to stop this.

Everything Nicole said in her tweets was spot on.

It's a very underrated political powerhouse Lancelottie 😆

I was on the train on the way to drop off my grandkids...

SunsetBeetch · 12/02/2018 19:58

Was just coming on here to remark on Jennifer James losing her shit over this. Talk about conflicted Shock

Agerbilatemycardigan · 12/02/2018 20:06

Tried to check Twitter again, but it's gone down.

flapsDentata · 12/02/2018 20:08

Jenifer blocked me on Twitter, she’s not without issues. And the antisemitic bildge she has posted, meant I was nervous about supporting her.

Corbyn has also remained silent on the brave women in Iran. He’s not a good man people. Never was. He covered up peadophilla in Islington. Look at his friends? Rape apologist and antisemites the lot of them. And sacking Champion was a disgrace. Women and children are not the right victims.

QueenOfTheAndals · 12/02/2018 20:18

Blimey, Jennifer James is coming out with some extremely paranoid stuff Confused

BlackBetha · 12/02/2018 20:19

I respect Jennifer James for taking such a strong stand on the self-ID issue and actually doing something about it. I supported her fundraiser for the legal challenge and would do so again... but I have thought a few times that she's not doing herself any favours by being so rigid on certain issues and being hostile towards potential supporters. Surely we should be aiming to set political differences aside and unite over this.

I didn't know she'd made antisemitic comments. That's disappointing if true.

AssignedPuuurfectAtBirth · 12/02/2018 20:32

Sadly yes, a bit worried about JJ.

She had a completely bizarre and unjustified go at me on twitter, and I was so bewildered I flipped over like a submissive puppy. Not like me, I assure you

And has come out with some worrying Anti-Semitic stuff.
