Just announced on their twitter and Facebook, Woman's Place UK are doing a meeting in London. If it's anything like the Bristol event it will sell out....

My trains aren't running so I won't be able to make this any more. If anyone wants my ticket DM me.

christinarossetti · 27/02/2018 07:21

Shame about your train, indominus.

The tickets are non-transferable, because of the unfortunately necessary security.

If you let WPUK know you can't make it, they'll cancel your ticket and be able to issue a new one to someone else.

Datun · 27/02/2018 07:30

Bloody snow!!!!!

And I don't normally say that. Because I love a bit of snow.

My trains are still running (sporadically).

So hopefully see you all in ... ... eleven and a half hours.

Good luck at the interview, Jen Thanks

CertainHalfDesertedStreets · 27/02/2018 08:20

Synchronises watch with Datun.

Bugger all point synchronising watches since my own personal timekeeping is entirely at the whim of other people's bowel movements/tantrums/realising they've left the really important thing, that wasn't important a second ago but on which the entire future of the human race now rests, behind. But still...

TheGoodEnoughWife · 27/02/2018 08:48

In Kent here and at the moment my trains running okay. May set off after lunch to ensure arrival!

GreenSeededGrape · 27/02/2018 08:59

Good luck everyone. Unfortunately I can't go but you have my support and my admiration!

PositivelyPERF · 27/02/2018 09:16

Good luck everyone. I hope you all have a fantastic day. I’m so jealous I can’t be there.

CunningOperative · 27/02/2018 10:12

Anyone else obsessively checking their email? Grin

TheGoodEnoughWife · 27/02/2018 10:23

I had actually forgotten I didn't actually know where it is!

purpleanorak · 27/02/2018 10:31

Sadly it looks as though I won’t make it tonight because of an impending work deadline that will keep me in the office until about midnight. Good luck to all who are going!

I’ll be very interested to hear full reports. One thing I keep coming back to is how annoyed I am that we have been forced into a largely reactive position, when feminism is also about spreading a very positive (and until recently fairly uncontroversial) message about gender not defining somebody or limiting what they can do or be. I keep wondering if what is needed (alongside immediate responses to the GRA) is a high profile positive campaign that doesn’t directly deal with trans issues but focuses on getting that message out to schools and the general public. About how being born a woman doesn’t mean you can’t do everything (and feel everything) a man does, and about how being born a man doesn’t mean you can’t wear dresses and make up and enter traditionally female professions.

I don’t know - it’s not really thought through, but I just feel as though we might need that more “stealth” approach of changing attitudes alongside the more urgent awareness raising of issues like the GRA.

BeUpStanding · 27/02/2018 10:42

I like your thinking purpleanorak and couldn't agree more.

SweetGrapes · 27/02/2018 10:51

Right there purpleanorak. I've been looking around my office most days and shaking my head at how the men are all in uniform and the women in mufti. Big corporate.

It really needs shaking up... and needs shouting out that it's quite ok for everyone to wear whatever they want....

TheGoodEnoughWife · 27/02/2018 11:07

And it's in :-)

LittleLebowski · 27/02/2018 11:24

Yay! See you later!

EmpressOfJurisfiction · 27/02/2018 11:25

And it's in :-)

And that's all any of us are saying about it! Grin

TheGoodEnoughWife · 27/02/2018 11:25

Yep :-)

Mouthandtrousersall · 27/02/2018 11:40

@sexmatters
I love this document, can I send it to my MP? He wrote to me saying that we can never automatically exclude trans, so clearly he needs educating.

ellaoldie · 27/02/2018 11:46

I want to go but the tickets were sold out this morning. I've emailed WPUk but had no response yet.

BeUpStanding · 27/02/2018 11:51

Twinsets and pearls at the ready ladies! Wrap your cardigans round you nice and snug, it's chilly out there.

CunningOperative · 27/02/2018 11:54

@JenniferJames I'm really looking forward to meeting you! I'm no socialist but I admire what you've been doing and I'm very excited to finally meet you in person. I'll be the one right next to you in the smokers corner Grin

SweetGrapes · 27/02/2018 12:09

Looking forward to this evening and meeting you lot!

I will be the scruffy one with the backpack... no twinset and pearls unfortunately!

Regressionconfession · 27/02/2018 12:10

I so wish I was coming ... enjoy everyone and be sure to report back!!
