Link

Friends have written a letter saying "we demand that her identity as a woman is returned to her immediately".

Women in women's prisons don't get fucking straighteners or epilators either you ginormous self obsessed plonker.

Have a read of the comments section. A few trans sympathisers but most see through the BS.

One of the trans sympathisers in that facebook comments section suggested that the safety of the transwoman was more important than any 'mild discomfort' from female prisoners. The person who made that comment depressingly appears to be a woman.

Good to hear about the update. So they bloody should. To present this as a ''cruel justice system picking on this harmless transwoman prisoner'' is sick.

Another commentator said ''this is why Trump won''. Not wrong.

BelaLugosisShed · 28/01/2018 20:41

It’s even more horrifying when you realise that 60% of Women in UK prisons have a brain injury, mostly caused by Male violence.

Source of information : Mark Rutherford on twitter.

I am gobsmacked at the idea of making it illegal to deprive a convicted perp of access to his preferred victims.

BlindYeo · 28/01/2018 21:13

Here's a very relevant website. Transcrime UK.

QOFE · 28/01/2018 21:34

Why the fuck have the Guardian chosen to put this on their FB page, 24 hours after having to edit the story to make the nature of his crimes clear? They cannot possibly have thought it would get a good reception Hmm

OP posts:
QOFE · 28/01/2018 21:45

Maybe... Maybe someone's deliberately plonked it on their FB page because that way comments can't be premoderated and public opinion will actually be reflected?

Ereshkigal · 28/01/2018 23:44

I can't see the Facebook page for some reason. Maybe they've taken it down?

BitOutOfPractice · 28/01/2018 23:48

It's like the guardian printed a story based entirely on the press release issued by this person's supporters without even googling, let alone checking facts properly. What the fucking hell has happened to this once great paper's standards of journalism?

BitOutOfPractice · 28/01/2018 23:50

Am o imaging it or is the update just a c&p of an article in one of the regional papers

lastofthewintergin · 29/01/2018 09:09

It's a slippery slope.

hackmum · 29/01/2018 12:30

If people are thinking of complaining, might be worth complaining to the Observer readers' editor, rather than the Guardian's one. Mark Townsend, who wrote the piece, is Home Affairs editor for the Observer, and it appeared in the Observer's print edition (as often happens with Observer pieces, it went on the Guardian site the night before it appeared in the paper). Email is: [email protected]

Justabunchofcunts · 29/01/2018 19:58

Yes Lino, just cross-posted that on a new thread. I love that it captures the original piece and the changes in black and white.

Justabunchofcunts · 29/01/2018 20:00

Sorry that sounded really arsey and wasn't supposed to , I was meaning yes as in I agree it's a brilliant article

boatyardblues · 29/01/2018 20:02

Excellent article by Sarah Ditum. Thanks for the link.

TheBadgersMadeMeDoIt · 29/01/2018 20:16

Thank fuck for that! A voice of reason at last. Between this and the Roy Wilkes story it's almost enough to give a person hope...

LinoVentura · 29/01/2018 20:28

Sorry that sounded really arsey I don't think it did but thanks anyway.

Dean Gary Marie is a dangerous man, he’s convinced the UK his name is Gary, therefore they only found 60 previous convictions. He has spent the majority of his life in Jersey, where he was born, in prison. He never wanted to be a woman, it’s the only way out of his inderterminate sentence. Do not underestimate him, he’s a narcissistic pervert. He was involved in a murder in Jersey and was star witness, he left just before the trial started which left his partner in crime Ricky Tregaskis to go on and kick a homeless man to death. He is a disgrace to the word ‘life’ and anyone defending his right to be a woman has no idea of this very sick individual.

StopThePlanet · 01/04/2019 22:10

I find it quite disturbing when adult individuals (straight, LGB, T, or whatever) refer to themselves as girls and/or boys i.e. children. I don't call myself a girl because I'm not a child, I'm a woman.

I'm sorry I'm really not trying to thread-jack, I just really can't get over the fact that this male sexual offender calls himself a girl and it is accepted. After his victims were primarily girls? WTAF?

theOtherPamAyres · 01/04/2019 23:23

Some features of his offending were deeply worrying including

  • he was armed with CS gas
  • he had planned his burglaries - meaning that he had probably followed and observed a range of teenage girls, as targets
  • the videos depicted a man talking to his victims - these were deeply traumatising.
  • the violence used against three police officers to escape capture

The crimes were about power and control and a compulsive paraphilia. It would be unjust to pander to the demands - but Trans Validation supporters should tell us why they think otherwise.

This thread is from over a year ago - so does anyone know what happened?
