Apologies in advance as this is Big Brother related. So watched I clip of the above and was wondering about people's views. As a R&B fan I know that Genuwine is a heterosexual male with, previously married and several children. He goes on BB assuming for the money and has advanced on by trans woman India Willoughby then makes advances towards him and he rejects "her" . She then storms off offended due to this and it is implied he is transphobic as 1. he doesn't want to kiss her and 2. Doesn't recognise her as female. Now I have lots of views about this but found it interesting that apparently this straight male Genuwine has no right to choose of state he is not sexually interested in someone who essentially was a male and is likely to be torn down as homophobic. Ironic given the current topics of sexual harassment that women are rightfully raising. Not sure what I'm asking really just thought it was interesting

To be fair, India is doing a corking job of peak transing viewers Grin

HeyRoly · 08/01/2018 22:57

I'm only watching for Courtney Act, who ive followed since Drag Race. I may not agree that "some women have penises and some men have vaginas", but Courtney/Shane is so articulate and just a delight.

I have never heard of India before but she seems to spend most of the time seeking attention and endless reassurance from the housemates that she really is a woman.

Did she really say she had a phobia of drag queens? REALLY?

Surely everyone is entitled to be not sexually interested in lots of people??

Mxyzptlk · 08/01/2018 23:04

Probably Genuwine wouldn't fancy snogging me either, even tho I'm female. Big deal.

EamonnWright · 08/01/2018 23:08

That's not the point. I would rather kiss a woman I regard as very unattractive, than a man dressed up as a beautiful woman.

I'm not gay.

80sQueen · 08/01/2018 23:11

Exactly, thought it was each individuals right to choose but apparently not so if the other person is trans.

OP posts:
80sQueen · 08/01/2018 23:12

He is not gay, so why does he need to validate her. Foolishness. She wants validation that she can pass as female, sorry but if that's not an incident of sexual harassment then ....

What is worrying is that if someone is happy enough to do this on TV then what happens to young guys but more so girls when confronted with that
*
Eammonwright* I worry about the above too, Genuwine is an older male and older and mature enough to rebuff this

I saw similar happen in a bar once. A very obviously trans woman keep rubbing her ever so long legs up against a man as he was socialising with friends, he turned round twice but quickly got distracted and carried on socialising. The trans woman stood up and threw a drink allover the poor man and slapped him. The poor guy was clueless, I don't think he even clicked on that the transwoman was even trying to get his attention anyway, just puzzled as to why was getting sort of kicked when he back was turned. For context though the trans woman was very much a loud, long nails, sky scraping silver stiletto wearing diva and resembled a drag queen. I dunno but I find it hard to believe she represents the average trans woman.

Oh and she was definitely trans, no doubt about it. It was a gay bar and very popular amongst the trans community, could instantly tell she was definitely born a man.

I would never normally want to watch Big Brother but this all sounds v interesting! India Willoughby is the one who went on BBC Women’s Hour saying that women who don’t shave their legs are dirty (words to that effect, anyway). Pleasant person all round.

BusterGonad · 08/01/2018 23:20

It's madness, people have the choice of whom they fancy, if they don't fancy you then tough shit!

Jenala · 08/01/2018 23:22

It's been said on another thread - someone needs to ask India if they would sleep with a transman!
I bet I can guess the answer....

BoreOfWhabylon · 08/01/2018 23:23

India stated on BB that India has never been to Pride and also has a 'phobia' of drag queens...

Maybe if she knew what it was to be heavily pregnant and struggling to reach them she would understand that most women often go days/weeks without shaving their legs!

BusterGonad · 08/01/2018 23:30

Maybe if she'd been a 'woman' for 40 years and shaving her legs for 25 she'd realize how fucking boring and annoying a job it was!!!

80sQueen · 08/01/2018 23:34

Just scared about where all of this is going, this aggressive push to accept agenda. I feel he was lucky to be on camera with this, a straight Black male politely rejecting a trans persons sexual advances. It's a minefield.

OP posts:
80sQueen · 08/01/2018 23:35

Charming so millions of women round the world are dirty are they Hmm as they don't shave ( I haven't shave for weeks so what). Wonder what the view is on periods, childbirth etc. Given it's what we also do

OP posts:
80sQueen · 08/01/2018 23:37

Did no one challenge it? Seems that women are their own worst enemy complicit to this agenda without challenge without question. Only a few as here dare to put their head above the parapet

CoolCarrie · 08/01/2018 23:38

Spot on Buster. India only likes the ‘nice’ areas of being ‘female’

Agerbilatemycardigan · 08/01/2018 23:40

I've read a lot of tweets with regards to the IW situation. She really isn't doing the trans community any favours.

80sQueen · 08/01/2018 23:41

No what she is doing is exposing the sense of entitlement and aggression in it.

OP posts:
Agerbilatemycardigan · 08/01/2018 23:45

She is. Liking this lady vicar's viewpoint.

She's very aggressive and I did mention it to my husband who was quite hurt that I suggested it as a male trait, to be fair he's (husband) not an aggressive man and I've met plenty of aggressive females in my time. But yes I do believe aggression is a more common trait in males.
