She's taking a Twitter break for her mental health because of the level of abuse she's receiving. She's a teenage girl, FFS - and even if you think she's a teenage boy, in what world does a 19 year old deserve this amount of bullying?

I hope you're all fucking happy now.

Screenshots on Twitter. You should be able to find if you search.

Gileswithachainsaw · 05/12/2017 13:30

That's one of the things that makes Lily a girl, Giles. Boys are tough and don't need anything except adventures and football

Naughty me for stereo typing so badly as I always thought a woman would be proving her arse belongs there around all those over privileged white men.

While the men sit around just assuming their right ignoring those who don't agree and not needing to explain anything to anyone.

See I'm a shit woman

I wonder where OP is. Probably back on Facebook laughing with Lily. About rape survivors.

Carriemac · 05/12/2017 13:32

Either Lily is a capable adult who is suited to a position in politics and public life or a poor, vulnerable teenager who isn't. If it's the latter which Lily is now claiming then how can Lily possibly represent women in the Labour Party?

A Twitter break! Oh, the humanity!

SummatFishyEre · 05/12/2017 13:33

If Liam can't handle the heat maybe he should get out of the kitchen. You can't just say whatever you want then claim everyone else are bullying bigots to get away with it

CertainHalfDesertedStreets · 05/12/2017 13:36

Will you all PLEASE stop making a fuss?

Put up and shut up. That is your role.

Particularly when it upsets one of the menz.

Collidascope · 05/12/2017 13:36

No, no, no! Women are emotional and irrational. We cry and flounce when people question or challenge us on social media. We send kisses and flowers. We dye our hair pink. We... erm, make jokes about rape, apparently.

HumphreyCobblers · 05/12/2017 13:37

If Lily was actually a woman she would be told to "toughen up, love, the internet is like that"

Either she is more than capable of doing the job of women's officer OR she is a poor teenage victim who we all need to stop talking sense at bullying. One or the other.

NB I used she out of courtesy. I don't actually think Lily is a she.

Gileswithachainsaw · 05/12/2017 13:38

Oh right...

I've been womaning all wrong all these years Shock

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 05/12/2017 13:38

Whats twitter got to do with mumsnet

CactusJelly00 · 05/12/2017 13:41

Didn't Lilly bully the previous jobholder out of her position with a campaign?

How many 19 year olds walk into a job that they are unqualified for? was this just because they are the 'fashion of the day'?

I do not feel that someone so young, with so little experience of life, work, relationships, or even being a woman can represent women.

This person come across as spoiled, naive, very self absorbed attention seeker who will almost certainly spout outrageous nonsense to get a reaction then cry 'no fair, poor me!'

it reminds me of Red Dwarf when they go back in time and meet their young selves and Lister finds that he wasn't cool but an incredibly ignorant irritating teen who goes around trying to shut down anyone who disagrees with him by calling them 'crypto-fascist' without a clue what he is talking about.

If mnhq have a problem with it they're more than welcome to remove it. Report it if you like.
It's accurate (though crude) and I don't really care who I offend with it.
Anyone, regardless of gender/sex or whether or not they identify as a sparkly toaster will be referred to in a way others may deem offensive if they
Take the piss out of rape victims
Threaten to dox frightened women (particularly when their job is to represent them!)
Pretend to be something they aren't then cry "mental health problems" when there facade doesn't hold in the world of politics and social media.
I'm happy to answer for anything I say, perhaps Liam should take a leaf out of my book..

Butterymuffin · 05/12/2017 13:52

I don't condone bullying but it seems contradictory to me for someone to be old enough at 19 to stand for a position representing others in a political party, and on the other hand too young at 19 to be able to cope with criticism and opposition.

hackmum · 05/12/2017 13:52

Rufus: "If they are being bullied on twitter why are you angry with people on mumsnet?"

In common with other TRAs, the OP strikes me as none too bright. From their point of view, feminists who speak their mind are indistinguishable from each other. They must be silenced in case they hurt the menz' feelz, innit.

PayUpPlease · 05/12/2017 13:53

CactusJelly I just don't think the 'You hurt people so I'll hurt you' line of argument ever gets anyone anywhere. Use whatever phrases you want, but be prepared for people to query them if they feel they go too far.

As much as I don't think a 19 year old who is not even legally female is an appropriate person to take on the role of a CLP Women's officer, I don't think we should be piling on or abusing a teenager.

We should however be holding to account the party that allowed them to be put in this position, through not having clear guidelines and through its internal factionalism. That party should be holding Lily to the same standards that any female CLP officer would be.

Lily's friends, if they are true friends, should be advising them to step away from social media, lock down their accounts and concentrate on their mental health and their studies.

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 05/12/2017 13:57

Thanks hackmum

I thought there might be a logical reason...i am perpetually disappointed Sad

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 05/12/2017 13:58

cactus

I feel very left out of this hive mind thing

Im thinking of a number...what is it

Nickynackynoodle · 05/12/2017 13:59

So many layers of wrong here. The fact that Tris Osborne is publicly goading both sides of this is also very worrying. Madigan is being used as an experiment and is too self absorbed to notice.

Lancelottie · 05/12/2017 13:59

Are they being bullied, or simply contradicted?
