She's taking a Twitter break for her mental health because of the level of abuse she's receiving. She's a teenage girl, FFS - and even if you think she's a teenage boy, in what world does a 19 year old deserve this amount of bullying?

I hope you're all fucking happy now.

Gileswithachainsaw, is it the creepy Clitoris person who's asking for names?

SaskiaRembrandtWasFramed · 08/12/2017 10:28

Also as there are about 957 genders, apparently, there would need to be a huge number of loos. And what about people who don't go in for gender because it's a load of made up bollocks - where do we go?

SweetGrapes · 08/12/2017 10:33

So if now it is admitted that sex and gender are two different things, what is the need for gender based segregation?

I understand the need for sex based segregation but not the other.

Gileswithachainsaw · 08/12/2017 10:34

Yes that's the one.

Once again they were asked a simple question Hmm

And of course LM is back to playing dumb Hmm

It would almost be funny if so kuch didn't depend on all if them just actually looking at how they are contradicting eachother and coming out with such absolute nonsense.

Look beyond biology? Ffs

Sex is biological everything else is just you and last time I checked there was nothing stopping anyone from doing/wearing/presenting how you like.

Gileswithachainsaw · 08/12/2017 10:38

I give you this.

How could the question be any easier.

It's yes or no.

SaskiaRembrandtWasFramed · 08/12/2017 11:01

I thought so, he is a creepy, little weirdo, and a prime example of male privilege. Can he not understand why women might be reluctant to post their real names online?! Is he seriously that obtuse?!

Gileswithachainsaw · 08/12/2017 11:06

No he knows. He just doesn't care.

He's trying to deflect the fact that actuakky he's been caught out in his own nonsense.

Either they are women or they arent. If they are only women on a case by case basis then they aren't really women and it's just a case of working out which man will he safest to house with the women.

He cannot cope with the evidence he's being presented with and is being deliberately blind to the reality of the stats and is doing what all the allies are doing and yelling liar/bigot/tell me your name etc

RedToothBrush · 08/12/2017 11:45

I find it offensive to be referred to as cis in any way in any context. Is this transphobic?

ArcheryAnnie · 08/12/2017 12:13

RedToothBrush I have seen trans activists say that they assume women who describe themselves as lesbians are automatically transphobic, so I don't think any woman unhappy with "cis" has a hope.

SomeDyke · 08/12/2017 12:42

I have seen trans activists say that they assume women who describe themselves as lesbians are automatically transphobic
Well, cuts out a lot of hassle...........I assume dykes are doubleplusgood transphobes? Plus at least gives the claim that transactivists and the whole transcult is homophobic some symmetry!

So, seems we would have cis woman is doubleplusgood but woman is transphobic, unless you're trans (of course). Who can use woman or trans woman as they damn please.

Similarly, lesbian is transphobic, but cisbian (or WTF it is) is sort of okay, unless you're trans and like the girlies, in which case lesbian is not just okay but to be praised/encouraged/lauded?

Maybe this will finally break the T from the LGB? Then we could have LGB, TQ+, leave the I alone who never wanted to be lumped in with the T anyway................

RedToothBrush · 08/12/2017 12:55

So in other words:

  • Gender language is offensive but only if you are trans.
  • Enforcing language or misusing language on others is not acceptable unless you are trans.
  • You can only be offended because of your gender and not your sex.
  • And being trans you are the one who hasn't got the power.

Is that it, in a nutshell?

hipsterfun · 08/12/2017 13:24

Why does Lily put an x at the end of every tweet?

catgirl1976 · 08/12/2017 13:27

Because she's a lady hipster and that's what all of us ladies do xxx

Hmm
nauticant · 08/12/2017 13:27

Because that's what girls are supposed to do.

Datun · 08/12/2017 13:27

It’s a kiss. A rape survivor asked him to not do that as she found it upsetting to be forced to accept kisses, even in a post. She pointed out that women don’t do this in a professional capacity as it can be construed as encouraging over familiarity.

He ignored her and said he didn’t listen to terfs and bigots.

hipsterfun · 08/12/2017 13:34

Does Lily turn the dot on Lily’s i into a cutesy heart, I wonder, like all us ladies?

catgirl1976 · 08/12/2017 13:38

Yes hipster. And only writes in pink glitter. As do we all. What we write will never be serious or important but at least it can look all pretty

CertainHalfDesertedStreets · 08/12/2017 13:57

Indeed. I understand that Mary Wollstonecraft wrote her seminal work 'A Vindication of the Rights of Women' in purple gel pen in a fluffy Smiggle diary with a unicorn on the front and on which she had inscribed 'Haterz gon' Hate'.

True.

Why does Lily put an x at the end of every tweet?

To disarm you.

A kiss at the end of every tweet, is to give you a certain image.

It allows the ability to be more confrontational, but the kiss is to remind you that this is a fragile girl at the same time. Its the use of immaturity to discourage you from arguing back, as 'Hey I'm so friendly, don't be mean to me'.

Its not just about 'being girly'.

Its passive aggressive in some cases. In others its a sign of genuine insecurity. Using it all the time is something of a shield for both situations - it case be dismissed as just being nice where it is passive aggressive and insecurities can be hidden by the ability to be more passive aggressive in other posts.

Its one that can be used both ways and explained away.

Sigh

Yes its about power and control. Both outwardly and inwardly.

It seems like a very simple insignificant and unimportant thing, but its not.

badbadhusky · 08/12/2017 16:29

If we set aside the whole issue of gender being socially constructed cobblers, I wonder how people’s changing room preferences would shake down if the options on offer were actually:

Female sex changing
Female gender changing
Male sex changing
Male gender changing

I have a hunch that lots of the “I’m cool with TIM in my changing rooms” would actually vote with their feet and use the female sex facilities in practice. Very few would use the female gender facilities, even though feminine presentation would allow them to ‘pass’ and access those facilities. In all the debating, we aren’t being given real options. The assumption is that TIM will come into women’s spaces.
