She's taking a Twitter break for her mental health because of the level of abuse she's receiving. She's a teenage girl, FFS - and even if you think she's a teenage boy, in what world does a 19 year old deserve this amount of bullying?

I hope you're all fucking happy now.

Oh come ON . Twitter is a tea party compared bro to politics . I’m nit saying that’s right , but really .

MisDescamisados · 07/12/2017 19:18

@ArcheryAnnie . That’s liberalism for ya . All too afraid of drawing a line lest the thought police lynch you .
It’s ridiculous , we claim intellectual vigour over conservatives (small C , not being political ) , yet we tiptoe about like maiden aunts for risk of offending ?
Surely the duty of a liberal IS to offend , to come out loudly and strongly where lines need drawing ?
Imagine if we were all so peely wally about our right to choose , for instance . We’d be accepting the title of baby murderer and apologising to whit . It’s ridiculous

Grin Grin Grin at the poster on the Mermaids twitter account who said that MN is like 4Chan for TERFs. They really don't know what it's like to be on the receiving end of misogynist, online abuse, do they? I'm really not easily shocked, but 4Chan makes me feel like I need to douse myself in bleach and set fire to my computer

OlennasWimple · 07/12/2017 19:44

Sweet - an article I read yesterday claimed that at the time that LM was suing their school for not using the name Lily (and the uniform, and accessing the girls' toilets), LM had changed their name by deed poll. Which is odd, because I've not seen that anywhere else, and I would have thought that a critical bit of the argument with school (that Lily was now the legal name to be used)

hipsterfun · 07/12/2017 20:58

‘Maiden aunts’? Interesting choice. Could you not just talk about tiptoeing about, without the sexist, ageist image?

Sorry to go there but I’d hope for better on here.

Opheliasgoldenwine · 07/12/2017 22:32

Still think she's a girl if nothing else.

Fekko · 08/12/2017 00:23

On what basis though?

MarrowWang · 08/12/2017 00:30

In what way is this 19 year old boy a girl?

GuardianLions · 08/12/2017 00:39

Yes a young man certainly isn't a girl, since a girl is a female child.

Killdora · 08/12/2017 00:40

It’s all completely batshit.

My dm’s next door neighbour of forty years, and her best friend, is a mtf.

She didn’t start using women’s toilets until after she had had ‘the op’, would be horrified if anyone suggested she took a role such as ‘women’s officer’ and was extremely patient with a very young and questioning mini Killdora.

I can just imagine one of these ‘Nu-trans’ in that situation now. They’d have probably smacked my five year old face for daring to question their womanhood and called me a Terf.

MarrowWang · 08/12/2017 00:42

Its the pink hoodie nd makeup isn't it..thats how Lily is a girl?

My daughter does not own a pink hoodie though and does not wear makeup. Nor does my stepdaughter. Meanwhile my youngest son likes wearing makeup. But my son is still a boy and daugter/DSD are still girls. So no, it can't be the stereotypical bollocks. Hmm. What a conundram.

MisDescamisados · 08/12/2017 02:51

@hipsterfun . You’re right about the “maiden aunt “ symbolism . Of course you are .
With much apology might I point out that - nevertheless- my point stands.

Fekko · 08/12/2017 08:32

My understanding is that there are some boys/men who want to dress like a woman, use the felmale loos, act 'like a woman' (whatever what is) but don't actually want to have surgery and take the hormones to be as close to being a woman as possible.

In the old days that wasnt that just a transvestite? How is this different- is it just a belief system that you can be what you decide you are and not need to commit to an op?

Fekko · 08/12/2017 08:33

Hang on - pink? DSs school colour is pink!

Datun · 08/12/2017 08:42

Exactly. Which is why Stonewall have changed the definition of transgender to include transvestites.

They’re not even hiding it. Man with a sexual fetish can legally be a woman and gain access to women’s spaces to practice it.

Doesn’t even have to be ‘out’. Because wearing a dress is not necessary.

MissMustBeAMug · 08/12/2017 08:52

In the old days that wasnt that just a transvestite?

Yep and that is exactly what they are.

Transgender people have the right to live a life safe and free from discrimination.

Transvestites (and agp’s) do not have the right to make women a subsect of their own sex (anyone who uses the word cis is a cunt of the highest order - no exceptions), to demand access to women’s spaces or to automatically get respect because they is speshul innit.

And why have we got gender and sex so confused, why does no one understand the difference anymore.

Gende isn’t real, it doesn’t mean anything. It basically boils down to ‘we think boys like football and girls like pink.’

Datun · 08/12/2017 09:01

Fekko and anyone else - to get an idea what it’s like living with a transwoman who has a transvestite fetish, take a look at the thread below.

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/3101834-trans-widows-escape-committee

The typology for transgenderism divides in two. Homosexual transsexuals and autogynephiles.

The former are those we have been sharing our bathrooms with for years with no trouble. They just want to get on with it, under the radar.

They are known as truscum by the latter.

It’s how the disconnect arises when someone knows a transsexual who is unassuming, harmless and just want to be left alone, compared to the flamboyant, hypersexualised, militant man demanding access to all things ‘woman’.

Fekko · 08/12/2017 09:03

It was all so simple when I was a yoof (and went clubbing in the trendy gay nightclubs). I don't ever remember any transvestites arguing that they actually were really a woman. They'd tell you if they had surgery or if they were 'fluid ' (in the modern lingo) and wore a suit and tie to the bank on Monday morning.

However I do remember the 'prima Donna' types who were rather 'in your face' and seemed to need to be the centre of attention. Either having some drama in the ladies loos (nobody cared who peed where) or having a fight on the dance floor and trying to punch the security guards.

LangCleg · 08/12/2017 09:03

And the awful thing is that it is the aggressive cross dressers who have no intention of getting SRS are the ones who are spearheading current transactivism. They're the ones trying to silence women and giving out all the abuse.

As with Killdora, the transsexual people I know would never behave like this and are horrified at what is going on. But as hard for them to stick their heads above the parapet as it is for us.

This is what the general public doesn't understand and why so many women still have so much sympathy.

Fekko · 08/12/2017 09:05

Yes - 'trying to silence' that's the aim. It doesn't matter what they do or say as long as they shout everyone else down.

MrGHardy · 08/12/2017 09:46

Lily tweeted we should have mixed sex same gender spaces.

Only good thing is that since the C4 interview there's a lot more people in the public seeing this nonsense.

Gileswithachainsaw · 08/12/2017 09:53

Sadly alot more buying it too though:(

Gileswithachainsaw · 08/12/2017 09:55

And sadly that councillor is back to asking about names to avoid answeing another valid and reasonable question.

Oh the irony about insignificant numbers and stereotypes of prisoners when the whole thing is based on stereotypes

CertainHalfDesertedStreets · 08/12/2017 09:55

Lily tweeted we should have mixed sex same gender spaces

I am fairly sure I am not the same gender as Lily. Where shall I go?

Gileswithachainsaw · 08/12/2017 10:02

Isn't that admitting they aren't actually men/woman?
