J.K.Rowling *might* be a Terf...

And I am delighted!

Okay, there is a tiny bit of evidence that JK may be gender critical. She 'liked' a gender critical post on Twitter, and the TRAs are going mental over it. JK hasn't responded yet (and I doubt she will)

In other news, Jenna Jameson (famous porn star) has also 'come out' as gender critical!

Is the tide turning? If we get JK on our side, then yes!

Emma Thompson describes herself as a radical feminist. It would be great if she came out as gender critical.

DamnDeDoubtanceIsSpartacus · 25/10/2017 17:26

Which post did she like?

Anlaf · 25/10/2017 17:32

She liked the marvellous gappy tales' piece on Sam Kriss

Here's a young un explaining why Rowling is a TERF:

What's JK Rowling reading these days, you might ask.
(Sorry, had to cover up all my hentai bookmarks)

Hentai bookmarks, eh?

Anlaf · 25/10/2017 17:35

Losing their shit they are though:

MotherPeresA · 25/10/2017 17:40

Hang on, didn't someone get all censorious and offended by the use of the word TERF recently?

Changerofname987654321 · 25/10/2017 17:41

What is a terf?

hingedspeculum · 25/10/2017 17:56

JK Rowling's charity Lumos, exists to end the institutionalisation of children.

You can't be the founder of such a charity and not understand the problems that women (and their children) face are because of sex based oppression. Of course she is.

ALittleBitOfButter · 25/10/2017 17:57

Ugh there seems to be a trend to coopt Snape as trans. Presumably because men never have long hair. Ridiculoud!

PricklyBall · 25/10/2017 17:58

Sigh. Can we cut the disingenuous crap, please? A term of abuse directed towards a specific group can be used ironically by members of that group of themselves - it doesn't make it okay for other people to use it. And you know that perfectly well.

Example - I can say of myself "Yeah, of course I'm a deep-fried mars-bar munching jock" (perhaps in the context of a conversation where someone was holding forth at length about how all Scots ate a really crap diet all the time). If an English person were to say the same thing about me, on the other hand, they would be making an offensive remark about my nationality.

And a fully paid up SJW like yourself, MotherPeresa, knows this damn fine.

(Changer, TERF is a term of abuse which its users claim stands for "trans exclusionary radical feminist", but which is almost exclusively found online coupled with phrases like "should suck my lady dick", "die in a fire", etc, to mention just a couple of the less offensive uses. It is applied willy-nilly to any woman who thinks there are circumstances where biology matters.)

nauticant · 25/10/2017 18:07

Hentai bookmarks, eh?

As ever, a complete lack of self-awareness on the TRA side.

Anlaf · 25/10/2017 18:10

Terf is a such a useful new synonym for "fucking bitch woman" or "witch" or "cunt".

Anyone remotely gender critical is likely to be called a terf on social media, eventually.

It's like a (very depressing) badge of honour for gender critical femininsts to be called such. I suspect like prickly, I don't know of anyone who would use it as an accurate way to describe their own views.

Anlaf · 25/10/2017 18:11

Actually, for anyone who would like to see how TERF is employed

I just had to look up hentai in the Urban dictionary. It starts "Hentai is animated pornography showcasing women who have better bodies than any real women (yet have weird hairstyles and hair-colours) and men with enormous penises" and goes downhill from there. (Yes, there is a downhill from there - reaches for brain bleach).

But it's not a sexual fetish, oh no, course not, autogynophilia is totally made up...

VivaLeBeaver · 25/10/2017 18:12

What on earth are hentai bookmarks?

VivaLeBeaver · 25/10/2017 18:13

Is it anime porn? I googled but darent click on the links!

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 25/10/2017 18:13

How the hell is Snape trans?

Is it the dress/gown?

VivaLeBeaver · 25/10/2017 18:13

X post.

miri1985 · 25/10/2017 18:15

I've had my suspicions that shes gender critical for a while. I don't know if any of you have read her Cormoran Strike book series.

The tv programme left it out but book 2 features a man who identifies as a woman and I don't want to give anything away but does not show this to be the most stable and rational person.

A large proportion of book 3 focuses on transabled people and how bloody nuts it is to cut healthy body parts of yourself rather than get help

DoubleRamsey · 25/10/2017 18:18

I suspected she was a TERF when I read career of evil.

It was interesting the way she talked about 'transabled' people. I couldn't help but think it was a veiled reference to transgender issues.

Don't want to say more cos of spoilers.

DoubleRamsey · 25/10/2017 18:18

X-post Miri Grin

I see I'm not the only one!

BelaLugosisShed · 25/10/2017 18:24

Unless she had searched for herself + terf, she will have no idea a few nutters are discussing her terfiness, I saw a few of them a couple of days ago, dissing Professor Brian Cox, apparently the only reason he advocates free speech in Unis is because his wife, Gia Millinovich is a big old terf who was no platformed 'somewhere'. The are desperate to be offended.

SpookghosttiAndMeatboos · 25/10/2017 18:25

Cormoran Strike

Oh! that was her! I mean, I watched it for Musketeer dude and woman from something I don't remember but I like her, didn't realise it was Rowling that wrote it. Good job her.

nauticant · 25/10/2017 18:26

Just to avoid sending people off on an ill-advised googling adventure, Hentai is a word of Japanese origin which is short for a perverse sexual desire. As such you'll find that images relating to rape, paedophilia, and bestiality are common. Even the less extreme images conjure up a very unpleasant view on what women (typically very young women) are and are for.

miri1985 · 25/10/2017 18:28

Great minds DoubleRamsey

SpookghosttiAndMeatboos · 25/10/2017 18:29

& Harry Potter is a Cop

Is that like the 15 year olds I heard talking about 'the Feds' hanging around so they were going somewhere else in Uxbridge town centre last year? Cops are a bad thing?

I mean, I don't particularly like Harry Potter (the character, the books are OK - at least they're not those whatsit compass books), but not because he's a cop - but because he's totally un-self-aware and has his friends sort everything for him a bit too often.
