Why do men hate women?

A small question for a Thursday afternoon...

Where does it stem from? If we lived in a more equal society would fewer men hate women? Is it seeing women being treated as lesser that gives other men the signal that it's okay to do the same or is it always there? Is it just inevitable as we are weaker and give birth etc?

I haven't read much about this - I know the Greer quote about women not knowing how much men hate us and I see it being mentioned but that's it.

OP posts:

Why do sone women hate men? Both questions have an easy answer-they're stupid.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 28/09/2017 18:04

'Silly movement' Indiana? Hmm

Christmastree43 · 28/09/2017 18:04

I would say media is a big culprit... from the second boys and men can watch or listen to films, tv, music etc it tells them/ shows them that women are nagging bitches just here to make life difficult and cause them problems

And porn shows them how to take it out on us...

And obviously women consume the same media (mostly less the porn) and grow up subconsciously believing it too and 'knowing their place' I know I did.

Christmastree43 · 28/09/2017 18:05

Toxic masculinity causes men to hate women too I would say

HemlockIsSpartacus · 28/09/2017 18:06

SpongeBob Oh Indiana has been imparting his "wisdom" in a few FWR threads - it's truly added to the quality of the discussion Hmm

QuentinSummers · 28/09/2017 18:07

Hating feminists isn't hating women indiana? You seem very angry we might discuss how much men hate women.

OP I think men treat women as lesser or "hate" them because it brings them rewards. They don't have to work at life as much, they don't have to do tedious things as much. They get to feel powerful, to have more money and status and all that comes with that.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 28/09/2017 18:09

Hemlock yes, I assumed he was a man when he came to tell us we're doing it all wrong Grin

scurryfunge · 28/09/2017 18:09

It's about maintaining the power and control. Indiana's dismissive response illustrates this well.

Datun · 28/09/2017 18:15

Some men definitely hate women. Largely to do with sex, I imagine. They see women as the gatekeepers to their sexual fulfilment. I'm not sure what comes first, the misogyny of the lack of girlfriends, but it's fairly self evident that one is dependent upon the other.

The feeling of entitlement is fuelled by society, pornography, the media which portrays a fantasy life that most people, men and women can never achieve.

I don't think most men hate women. I do think many see women as lesser, though.

The numerous studies which show, for instance, women who talk for 30% of the time in a meeting are seen by men to have dominated it, the unconscious bias in CV selection, etc.

The ongoing threads here on mumsnet, where women are treated to abusive behaviour, from being ignored, to being coerced when they don't want to have sex. It is seen by these men that that is fitting behaviour towards a woman.

If that's not treating them as lesser, I don't know what is.

Datun · 28/09/2017 18:17

Some like me, hate feminists who are just taking the fing pss when it comes to just how far they're taking their silly movement.

See? Lesser than.

outabout · 28/09/2017 18:18

Suggesting that significant numbers of men hate women is a bit strong as relatively few HATE women. Many however would prefer women not to continually 'go on' about things but let it go. I don't mean that the women should have to do whatever was the subject, just discuss and move on. Similarly some women would prefer men to be more tidy or thoughtful whatever.

Christmastree43 · 28/09/2017 18:23

Some really good points Datun that I recognise from my own experiences - about women as sexual gatekeepers and the fantasy life that men feel entitled to

AssassinatedBeauty · 28/09/2017 18:30

Your hate for women is very evident in your posts @IndianaBones, it's a useful case in point for this thread. So very angry about some irrelevant silly women discussing nonsense between themselves.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 28/09/2017 18:34

I think religious teachings have a lot to answer for. In Christianity 9other religions are available, and seem to be anti-women but I can't quote chapter and verse) back to the Adam & Eve story. There was good ole Adam, minding his own business, and Eve tempted him to eat the fruit. I think it might be the concept of Original Sin? Twas all norty Eve's fault anyhoo...

As demonstrated earlier, many men will claim they don't hate women, they even think that is preposterous. But they definitely do hate the women that don't behave/think/act the way they think they should.
Bar certain exceptions i believe it starts innocuous enough, with women/girls seen as less or an inconvenience . Then it grows into "good guys always finish last" and "girls only want bad boys" and all that shit pushed by the media, shit that festers into resentment. And then it culminates with the man seemingly "unable" to understand how this woman, this lesser being, dares to talk back, and disrespect him and not being grateful and appreciative enough of his manly awesomeness. Even worse when despite her lesser status she is better/achieved more/earns more/is respected more.

AssassinatedBeauty · 28/09/2017 18:41

Good job you're fighting against all those things then @IndianaBones seeing as us useless feminists aren't. You are, aren't you?

SpaghettiAndMeatballs · 28/09/2017 18:43

I think there's a fair bit of... what's that saying, where the master beats the boy and the boy kicks the dog?

That the vast majority of people are mediocre, and men make themselves feel better by being able to say 'but at least I'm not a woman'.

Women say the same thing between themselves, but unfortunately, out in the real world, men hold the best cards, so in practical terms, it really is better being a man, and at a very basic level, the men know they want to keep it that way, and hate any woman who rocks the boat - as evidenced by Indiana so clearly.

ErrolTheDragon · 28/09/2017 18:44

The word chosen for equality should always have been gender neutral.

It is. It's 'equality'.Confused

I wish men would focus on real, I mean serious issues. For example honor killings, the gang rapes, the mass human rights crimes in those areas of the world which are caused by men, rather than complaining if women have the temerity to care about other issues as well as those.

Lancelottie · 28/09/2017 18:45

What do you personally do to try to prevent rape, honor killings and human rights crimes, Indiana? (I don't do a great deal, but do donate to organizations that work in those areas, before you ask.)

Do you research your views anywhere more peer-reviewed and data-driven than Facebook and Youtube?

QueenLaBeefah · 28/09/2017 18:52

Some men claim they don't hate women but give a very good impression of not liking women.

user1496321962 · 28/09/2017 18:54

Exactly

QuentinSummers · 28/09/2017 18:56

I wish the feminists would focus on real, I mean serious issues.
I wish the MRAs would fuck off to the red pill forum or somewhere and stop posting this kind of rubbish on here but it doesn't happen.

archerer · 28/09/2017 18:56

Men in general are just an angry species- there's also far more male on male violence then female vs female.
