In fact an attack by a woman would probably affect me much more than from a man. It would mean that the other half of the population would feel like an immediate threat to me too. If that makes sense at all?

SomeDyke · 23/02/2017 14:54

" I would feel equally threatened by an aggressive lesbian in a 'female' zone."
So, now the homophobia reveals itself! And why the 'quotes', is 'female' imaginary, or are you trying to say lesbians aren't female?

Biology matters, rather than some weak attempt at trying to pretend that what women have to fear is rough-looking people who fancy ladies............

There may be some lesbian sexual predators out there, but they would get crushed in the stampede by the far greater numbers of males, whatever they happened to be wearing and however any of them identified.

DanGleballs · 23/02/2017 14:59

Actually I'm far from homophobic, being equally fond of Arthur and Martha Wink. The only trans women I know is much more interested in getting as much cock as possible than making women feel unsafe in toilets.

MercyMyJewels · 23/02/2017 14:59

Was thinking that too Somedyke

DanGleballs · 23/02/2017 15:04

I just meant if it is all about not having someone who may find you sexually attractive and is physically able to overpower you surely you need tk segregate by sexuality also? Although I'm not quite sure where I would fit in there either.

DanGleballs · 23/02/2017 15:08

Unisex seems to be the way to go really if you look at it like that? And yes I do believe female is a thing but we have gone past the point of sexuality being hidden.

venusinscorpio · 23/02/2017 15:14

Jaxing

You've never heard the saying about the stopped clock?

Datun · 23/02/2017 15:19

dan

It's really not about sexual orientation. You, me and everyone else have been sharing our changing rooms and toilets with both lesbians and transwomen for years.

It's about making a law that any man can identify as a woman walk right in. There are no shades of grey. There are no you can come in here, but not there. There are no judgements here.

It's about a whole bunch of a very vocal, very powerful men who have decided that this is going to be one big whooppee for them or none of this would've happened.

They have now made it political. They have now made the word 'woman' meaningless. So instead of just accepting that a few people had gender dysphoria and out of courtesy they could use our toilets, it's now changing whole raft of legislation that is legally erasing the class of women.

Politicians cannot even define the word woman. It is becoming illegal for women together in a public place without the presence of a man if that man says so.

This is a huge, regressive, breathtakingly arrogant disarming of women on the most basic of levels.

GinAndSonic · 23/02/2017 15:20

The problem isn't that men are attracted to women though. Its that men routinely harass, intimidate, assault and rape women. Lesbians don't. It's not about them potentially wanting to fuck us. It's about them potentially wanting to smack the shit out of us. And if mtt want to use the female toilets and don't want to be included under the umbrella of "men" when it comes to women making risk assessments then they might want to get off social media and stop tweeting about wanting TERFS to "die in a fire" or talking about how they'd kick the shit out of anyone who questioned their presence in the women's toilets, or Facebook group about stalking lesbians and bragging about how they will be carrying multiple weapons when they are stalking this particular lesbian.

For being allegedly women truly and purely and having always been women through and through because of their lady brains, they threaten violence against women in EXACTLY the same way as men. Coz they are men. Then they wonder why Im reluctant to be in an enclosed space with them?

DanGleballs · 23/02/2017 15:30

What percentage of trans people are actually that extreme though? It seems to me most would just want to slip under the radar. Is it actual trans people who are arguing this or is it just another way for angry men to get at women. Much like loads of the fathers for justice crowd actually being piss poor parents. So the actual transwomen who have been quietly using our loos without issue are the ones who will lose out?

venusinscorpio · 23/02/2017 15:33

The thing is, how do you define an "actual trans person"?

DanGleballs · 23/02/2017 15:37

Fair point. There is a big difference between 'Rachel' who dresses like a woman, is out to family and friends and lives her life as a woman to Malcolm with a full on beard, an unknowing wife at home who puts on some sparkly heels. Again so many shades of grey.

If you have no issue with males in your communal changing rooms and showers, prisons, dorms etc, competing in female sports and lifting the wimbledon plate or breaking the 100m word record, getting the Oscar for best female actor, taking girls scholarships etc - that's hugely lovely, tolerant and giving of you. I'm just a nasty bigot i guess for being concerned about this.

DanGleballs · 23/02/2017 15:40

But labelling all transwomen potential rapists is just a bit too much like all gay men being paedophiles for my liking.

DanGleballs · 23/02/2017 15:44

Bambambini I think you misunderstood what I was saying. I have massive concerns about transwomen in female sports, prisons etc. I just can't get het up about the loo thing. I have never been in a changing room where a penis older about six was on show. Unisex changing rooms could sort that though.

sassandfaff · 23/02/2017 15:45

somedyke

I responded to dan without any critical awareness of the term butch lesbian. In my mind I just imagined the scenerio as a stronger than me female.

My straight woman privilege probably. In no way do I ever feel scared/threatened by lesbian or have any belief that they are violent as a group.

So if I did offend, I'm sorry.

sassandfaff · 23/02/2017 15:47

That should say without any critical awareness of the term butch lesbian as being violent.

Bambambini · 23/02/2017 15:50

Dan wasn't specifically at you - just anyone who may be new to the topic - something to think about. I just think if we are going to say TW are women and allow them intonloos and changing rooms - then really they will/should have access to everything female. You believe they are women or they are not.

DanGleballs · 23/02/2017 15:51

I wasn't calling lesbians violent sex attackers either. In fact the only time I have felt sexually threatened was at school. A lesbian teacher insisted in watching the girls get changed for swimming. It made many of us feel uncomfortable which lead to almost constant periods so we wouldn't have to undress. I'm just trying to say that single sex areas may be outdated.

Bambambini · 23/02/2017 15:54

My mum was assaulted by a man in public lois as a child. I've used a unisex bathroom and had a group of men standing outsde my shower cubicle then crowd and stare at me as i brushed my teeth at the sink. On second thought - i think females deserve seperate sex places where they might feel vulnerable.

DanGleballs · 23/02/2017 15:57

I believe that some people for whatever reason sincerely feel that they are in the wrong body. Whether there is a physical cause for it or whether it is purely psychology is up for debate. Equally there wi be attention seekers mixed in. Also men where it is all about the sexual kink. I don't know in what percentages though. There will also be some sick, twisted fuckers who hate women who will use the situation for their advantage.

sassandfaff · 23/02/2017 16:00

I've been sexually assaulted 3 times.

All by men - 2 of whom had special needs and once by an opportunist who took advantage of a very small space for me to get past whilst disembarking off a bus. He actually smiled at me when I turned around. Yuk. He obviously thought I should find it enjoyable.

OP posts:
DanGleballs · 23/02/2017 16:00

And the one negative situation with a lesbian is against three actual attackers and the usual lower level of harassment that women face from men which would be uncountable. I've never felt threatened or been harassed by a transwomen though.

DanGleballs · 23/02/2017 16:01

Alt obviously the amount of transwomen I have met his a much smaller sample group.
