Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

America would rather be led by someone who boasts of assaulting women, than a woman

And some people think we don't need feminism any more.

I am obviously in the wrong parallel universe.

I want to go back to the one where good sense rules over racism, misogyny and hatred.

P1nkP0ppy · 09/11/2016 08:28

Apparently the leader of the Klu Klux Klan said 'We elected Trump' according to Jeremy Vines just now.
If this is true God help everyone.

0phelia · 09/11/2016 08:29

I'm not convinced the result can be explained by misogyny alone. I think America hated the idea of another polished professional politician because they want change and any change will do. Same with Brexit. It was the rebel vote. The shake up the system vote. He may even have won against another Sanders if he was in the running instead, the way Sanders was painted.
Well we're all buggered now anyway.

StealthPolarBear · 09/11/2016 08:29

That's how I feel xeno. I had anxiety dreams all night that trump won (I actually wasn't that invested in the election but had to get up very early for a train so that what my night time anxious brain fixated on) and woke up to learn it was all true

MrsJayy · 09/11/2016 08:30

See they are all going to crawl out from under their KKK hoods and stand up and shout look at us its terrifying.

MrsJayy · 09/11/2016 08:33

ophella i think you are right he put himself over as an ordinary man who was going to save them from the elite (which he is part of)

0phelia · 09/11/2016 08:34

I predict Marine le Pen winning in France next year.

MrsJayy · 09/11/2016 08:40

Puitin has sent trump a telegram apparently congratulating him so that relationship isnt terrifying

Pluto30 · 09/11/2016 08:41

Merkel will be kicked to the curb next election too.

gratefully · 09/11/2016 08:43

Don't be ridiculously simplistic.

ChaChaChaCh4nges · 09/11/2016 08:46

Republicans have taken the Senate too, and held the House. So Trump will be able to get his policies through where Obama couldn't. Shit.

pklme · 09/11/2016 08:48

It looks and feels like a comic strip dystopia.

PreemptiveSalvageEngineer · 09/11/2016 09:16

The next four years are going to be horrific.

The repercussions of this will go on for decades, if not centuries. Don't forget the Supreme Court nomination - abortion will be illegal by this transmission next year, mark my words.

But that's a specific thing. What makes me most despondent is that Hate and Fear win out over Love and Tolerance. Again.

ChaChaChaCh4nges · 09/11/2016 09:29

Trump is also a climate change denier. No more US money to UN climate change programmes, and goodbye to the Paris emissions reduction agreement. Sad

"As someone on another thread said it's proof that a rape accusation doesn't harm a man career…"

John Leslie might disagree.

"I predict in the USA that sexual assaults will increase and convictions go down.
Homophobic and racist attacks will increase.
Shootings of in particular young black men will increase etc
"

And the sky will fall down and Cthulu will rise!

user1478684818 · 09/11/2016 09:50

"See they are all going to crawl out from under their KKK hoods"

The KKK don't wear hoods anymore, keep up with the times.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 09/11/2016 10:01

I am horrified. That's all.

ageingrunner · 09/11/2016 10:33

John Leslie didn't get quite the same public endorsement that trump has now got, user did he?

ageingrunner · 09/11/2016 10:34

Tbh I fear that we're fucked. We meaning women, the environment, humanity, and all life on earth except maybe cockroaches.

FreshwaterSelkie · 09/11/2016 10:42

Sad, sad times. Misogyny is alive and well, and will be moving into the White house.

Gah.

I keep coming back to that this year Enid
They fucking hate us don't they? I feel so sad.

VestalVirgin · 09/11/2016 11:12

Perhaps, now that the women of America know exactly how much men hate them, there will be a feminist revolution.

That's the only way to see this in a positive light.

LonnyVonnyWilsonFrickett · 09/11/2016 11:14

What about all the women that voted for him though Vestal? There's a million metric fucktons of cognitive dissonance to wade through before a feminist revolution can get off the blocks Sad

ageingrunner · 09/11/2016 11:15

40% of white women voted for trump
