And some people think we don't need feminism any more.

As more votes have been counted, Hillary's lead in the popular vote has grown to 400,000.

I would not give too much weight on the racist/sexist aspect of Trump. He won because people hate Hillary and because he courted "the forgotten", i.e. best example is the rust belt where he won back states. Now your argument is they shouldn't have voted for him at all given his racist/sexist remarks, but then you have to acknowledge that Hillary has been put in a really awful light. So for them it was sexist vs crooked Hillary. So voting for the guy saying he will keep their jobs in America (manufacturing) and focus on America is much more appealing than the one for globalization, something they do lose out for. Because it's true, overall globalization is beneficial to countries, certain groups of people lose. And these made Trump president.

Visceral impact of this result.
But time to get to work.

DeviTheGaelet · 15/11/2016 20:31

lib I don't know you at all but this statement bothers me I would not give too much weight on the racist/sexist aspect of Trump. I assume neither racism or sexism affect you?

kesstrel · 16/11/2016 07:52

Devi I think libprog meant "not put too much weight on the racist/sexist aspect of Trump" in the sense that 'people voting for him because he is racist/sexist wasn't the biggest reason he won'. Rather than not being personally bothered about racism/sexism. At least that's what I took the rest of her post to imply.
