"He's shit, he missed, he fucks them when they're pissed."

Queenoftheblues · 23/10/2016 20:41

I don't think he will attain hero status. Even those who don't think he's a rapist, do find his actions that night despicable.
He can threaten Gloria hunniford with a libel action but that would involve him describing in great detail how the girl was enjoying sex with him. It'll send Tash nuts if she has to hear that all over again.

JenLindleyShitMom · 23/10/2016 20:58

I'm starting to think "tash" only feels how her father tells her to feel. I feel her father told CE to describe the sex in response to GH then he would and NM would smile and nod beside him.

Xenophile · 23/10/2016 21:39

He already has hero status.

Gloria Hunniford is being roundly vilified on Twitter and elsewhere. To the type of man who thinks that what he did was excusable, he is their hero and talisman

annandale · 23/10/2016 22:08

Have to admit that I snorted at that chant. Wish it was the other way round though.

I'm OK with offensive posts not being deleted quite so often. I would rather see people expose themselves and their arguments get taken apart.

DeleteOrDecay · 23/10/2016 22:14

The hero worship of footballers doesn't help the public perception of these cases. For some people they can do no wrong, and even then many believe that how they do on the football pitch is more important than any criminal conviction. I mean look at the Adam Johnson case and the horrific way his victim was treated on social media, and she was a child.

It's one of the reasons I've massively gone off football in recent years.

^This^

DH hates football and DS1 isn't interested in it at all. Be devastated if my son's looked up to these 'role models'.

Queenoftheblues · 23/10/2016 22:25

But is the vile stuff on social media a true reflection of what the majority think? Surely the cowardly comments are being made by a sub class minority. Isn't it best not to over focus on what a small bunch of Neanderthals are spewing out?

DeleteOrDecay · 23/10/2016 22:33

I don't know if it is a true reflection of wider society or not, but social media has given these idiots a platform to air their dangerous and damaging views and spread their hate. I don't think this should be ignored when victims are vilified, forced to move and change their identities numerous times as a result.

Queenoftheblues · 23/10/2016 22:38

Delete what do you think could be done to stop the online bullying?

DeleteOrDecay · 23/10/2016 22:48

I honestly don't know. I know people can and have been fined for revealing identities of victims who have been given life long anonymity although that doesn't seem to be much of a deterrent. Maybe a harder punishment might be but that doesn't solve the issue of people not knowing what the fuck they're talking about when they spout such toxic bile.

Maybe better education on rape myths and how rape trials are conducted from the beginning would be a good start at eradicating such a mentality. I am by no means and expert but many people seem completely clueless (assuming a not guilty verdict=innocent for example). I just don't see how it can be ignored. Although they may be the minority, they are ruining people's lives, lives of people who have often been through the ringer as it is.

Xenophile · 23/10/2016 22:58

A good start might be for the police to take it seriously. And in the case of Evans' victim, actually arrest the man who has been publishing her name with impunity for years.

Queenoftheblues · 23/10/2016 23:15

I agree that anyone naming her should be arrested, to hell with a £600 fine. Put a couple of them in jail and set an example.
As for educating people about the legal system that's a good idea. So few of us actually know how it works until we're caught up in one. I had a look at some stuff on Twitter - it's nasty but so ignorant I can't take these people seriously. I just get a vision of a fat greasy man sitting behind a computer with a beetroot face who is angry at the world and blames it on the feminists.

WinchesterWoman · 24/10/2016 07:32

The woman organising the appeal is on BBC today

kua · 24/10/2016 07:37

What time Winchester?

Xenophile · 24/10/2016 07:46

She's on the Victoria Derbyshire program.

kua · 24/10/2016 07:48

Thanks xeno.

WinchesterWoman · 24/10/2016 08:17

Article on BBC here - Ched Evans accuser shown 'love and support' by fundraising campaign
www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-37728681

SleightOfMind · 24/10/2016 11:37

Donating and more importantly leaving a message has made me feel a little better.
I'm glad there's some way to show our support and counteract the beetroot faces!

NinjaFeminist · 24/10/2016 11:40

Hopefully wider exposure (via that article) will help boost the fund further. It's steadily climbing & over £21k now. I've donated & am glad I could do that one small thing to show her support in the face of the awful treatment she's endured.

BeyondReasonablyDoubts · 24/10/2016 11:47

Very nearly £22k :)

BeyondReasonablyDoubts · 24/10/2016 12:09

... now it's £22k

NinjaFeminist · 24/10/2016 12:21

Smile brilliant. I really hope it hits the target, no matter how long it takes.

SomeDyke · 24/10/2016 12:50

According to the guardian, a bunch of Labour women have written to the attorney general:

www.theguardian.com/society/2016/oct/23/female-labour-mps-write-to-attorney-general-over-ched-evans-case

"They are asking Wright and the justice secretary, Liz Truss, to change the law to specifically make it clear that sexual history evidence can only be used when the similar conduct is unusual and out of the ordinary."
