So a get out of jail free card costs £100,000, good to know... :-(

StrawberrytallCake · 14/10/2016 16:28

Pippa one witness denied receiving any money and the other said they hadn't heard about a reward until 2 days before testifying.

PippaFawcett · 14/10/2016 16:28

Exactly. I cannot believe that it is legal to entice someone to give evidence and for it to be admissable in court. I am utterly ashamed of our legal process.

PippaFawcett · 14/10/2016 16:29

Strawberry, where have you read that?

Dervel · 14/10/2016 16:29

All I will say on the legal aid charity idea, is there will be no shortage of work. Plenty of fish in barrel cases for solicitors and barristers to make a name on.

All it needs is funding.

StrawberrytallCake · 14/10/2016 16:30

In the daily case updates from court Pippa the mirror, walesonline news and various twitter accounts of journalists who were in the courtroom.

PippaFawcett · 14/10/2016 16:33

I'm reading the exact opposite on Twitter - that his girlfriend 'coached' them and they were paid £50k each. Could be an echo chamber, I suppose but the Guardian article suggests a link.

arsenaltilidie · 14/10/2016 16:33

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3832198/Ched-Evans-arrives-court-second-day-cross-examination.html

According to an ex lover, she had sex with him [ex lover] and not remembered what happened the night before.
But I think the crucial evidence was apparently there was a particular "phrase" she used on Ched Evans that she has also used on the ex lover.

Spookybitch · 14/10/2016 16:34

So it looks like Massey messaged the (prosecution witness) hotel receptionist on Facebook:

"We are appealing for new information and there's a £50,000 reward for any new evidence.

"Do you know anything that could help Ched? X"'

Not a bribe, just the 'flavour of a bribe' apparently. How the fuck that's legal is beyond me.

Lorelei76 · 14/10/2016 16:35

So is the court system endorsing the idea that penises are interchangeable? In which case, let's get rid of men and just use vibrators. The courts have endorsed it. Or we could lobotomise them.

Wait, maybe someone did that already.

StrawberrytallCake · 14/10/2016 16:35

I wonder if it's the details released on the attempts to get the original verdict quashed they have been reporting on? In the trial this week the witnesses vehemently denied receiving any money.

I doubt they ever will but I'm sure they're expecting it!

PippaFawcett · 14/10/2016 16:38

I will not read any Daily Mail articles on the subject.

BeyondPolkadots · 14/10/2016 16:38

If she had sex with these ex boyfriends when she was unable to consent too, all that proves is that they are also guilty of rape!!

FayKorgasm · 14/10/2016 16:40

A very cynical world weary part of me wonders if she said I feel like I am a man then it would be clear cut rape. Depressing.

StrawberrytallCake · 14/10/2016 16:40

Pippa I say that to myself every day but somehow they still manage to appear somewhere Smile

Either way I don't believe they weren't motivated by the reward. If NM contacted the receptionist of the hotel in that way then it is absurd to think she wouldn't contact other people.

cadnowyllt · 14/10/2016 16:42

Wait, maybe someone did that already.

Nope, not yet.

scallopsrgreat · 14/10/2016 16:45

"But I think the crucial evidence was apparently there was a particular "phrase" she used on Ched Evans that she has also used on the ex lover."

She didn't "use" it on CE, she said it to CM. Interesting turn of phrase there though.

StrawberrytallCake · 14/10/2016 16:46
scallopsrgreat · 14/10/2016 16:46

In fact she allegedly said it to CM.

StrawberrytallCake · 14/10/2016 16:46

Took 5 years and a 50,000 reward to uncover that particular nugget though eh Scallops?

PippaFawcett · 14/10/2016 16:47

Strawberry, you should refrain if you can as it adds to their web hits which feed their xenophobic, misogynistic bile.

This verdict is a dark, dark day for women. I worry about the future of the world for our daughters.

LyndaNotLinda · 14/10/2016 16:47

The witness who claimed she used the same phrases only came forward with that 'evidence' after Ched's conviction and those phrases had been reported. He made 3 conflicting statements.

PippaFawcett · 14/10/2016 16:48

In fact, I just said to DH that I'm not sure I would encourage DD to report it to police if she was raped. How utterly fucked up is that. I bet Ched's victim wishes she had never said anything.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 14/10/2016 16:49

'96% of rapists are not rapists in the eyes of the law'

Would make a good t-shirt, badge, poster, placard at MWR.

scallopsrgreat · 14/10/2016 16:52

Well indeed Strawberry.

I'm going to tweet that Countess - if you don't mind.
