MN deleted thread

I feel sorry for the team at HQ. They deleted the thread about the bathroom issue, and posted this:

"Message from MNHQ: We have removed this thread following several reports.
This thread had personal attacks, general nastiness and transphobic posts on it and we felt that what began as an interesting discussion, became a bit of a slanging match and so we felt it best to remove it."

I agree that the thread did include these. However it also included genuine discussion, cries for help, abused women trying to make their voices heard.

By deleting the whole thread, rather than just the bad, you are telling these women to shut up and put up.

louw have you never questioned why the negative stereotypes and judgements only apply to women, when men doing the same are hailed as heroes for doing the same, or at worst loveable fools?

Lurked Louw flounced on another thread last night so you may not get a response.

My sister is a prime example why woman are treated different when it comes to doctors and hospitals because unfortunately it's woman like her who go over the slightest of things!

My mil and bil are both really bad hypochondriacs. They both go to the doctor over the slightest things. They both over exaggerate, over worry and so on. Man and woman. Not too sure what this has got to do with the deleted thread but had to mention it.

Oh well - the thread wasn't actually supposed to be all about her!

Back to the OP - I wonder if sometimes when there's a contentious thread which has a lot of deletions required but does contain good discussion, if it would be possible for MNHQ to suspend it while they clean it up and evict trolls - that would be better than deleting the whole thread but allow for management. It must be very hard for MNHQ when several things kick off at the same time or a thread is very active, esp at night. Another thought (which has only just occurred to me so maybe is rubbish) is that when such a thread is reactivated, posters who've joined MN after it was started wouldn't be able to pile in.
