Where do you stand on banning the sex trade?

I'm a radfem but I have done very little research into the banning of the sex trade and sex workers, but I know it's a bit of a hot topic at the moment, and the likes of the (vile) Paris Lees is a champion for sex workers.

I can't imagine why anyone would think protecting legal rights for the sex trade would be good for women. Can anyone enlighten me to their views?

Now both those points I agree with. A transwoman who clearly is so blind to male privilege that she thinks sexual harrassment is a validating experience should not be speaking on behalf of women. I have no time for Brook Magnanti's happy hooker act either. She always reminds me of the line in the 90s song "But if you phoned your daddy he could stop it all..."

Yes, totally agree re Common People and poverty tourism. Brooke/Belle is not representative in any way whatsoever of the majority of women in prostitution.

Paris Lees can speak to the experiance of an MTT in prostitution but not to the experience of a woman.

Feel free to disagree Lurcio, but having reconsidered what I said, I stand by it. Smile
