So a transwoman will have to go the male bathroom. A transman in the female one. There's been cases of butch women being hassled already in female toilets.

Oh - and if you're in North Carolina and witness someone who you think is in the wrong bathroom, you can call the hotline.

Meanwhile, a convicted sex offender (who is also Ex Republican House Speaker) is allowed to go the male bathroom with boys.

The only good thing about this bill is that it's made people react to the discrimination and to show that many people think this is discrimination. Just like in the 60s. Apparently trans people are sexual deviants.

This is the real effect of hate.

What I am supporting is for people to be open minded and sensible, not to buy into the sort of hysteria that taking a few cases and quoting them as though they are common place causes.

I'm supporting equal rights for people, regardless of gender or identity.

Just as difficult situations are managed in other settings, a tricky situation like those you describe could also be managed, through environmental organisational and relational approaches.

Equality can be four types of loo, standard male, standard female, disabled and unigender. Why does equality have to impinge on one groups rights when a fourth space is the answer?

If people really can't see this is men taking yet more rights and spaces away from women, and having the 'protection' of being trans (therefore anyone who reasonably objects is labelled a bigot) I really can't help you. Surely the end point here is that we're going to end up with 4 categories of public bathrooms? Men, Women, Trans Men and Trans Women. There is just no other solution. Would the trans lobby be happy with this or would they find something about it to be offended by?

You're not supporting equal rights though, are you, user. If that were the case, you'd be fine with a safe (toilet) space for transwomen, just as women have. So, a transwomen toilet. What you're supporting is women having to share private, safe spaces with men, against their wishes. How exactly is that equal?

Mind you, this is coming from someone who thinks that men living in women's refuges is no more than a tricky situation. Would you like to go to your local refuge right now and tell the frightened women and children there to quit it with the hysteria when you say that men will be joining them?

There are so many types of gender, I think there needs to be a gender mixed loo. The rest of us can use a male, female and disabled loo as usual. Like people with disabilities folk, the various gender folk will have to queue up when more than one comes along at once.

I don't believe that any of the right on "live and let live" types would actually think "there's a woman, just like me" if they saw either of those naked in their changing rooms or showers, or next to them in a hospital ward.

Interestingly the women falling over themselves to welcome men into safe spaces never consider that the NHS have same sex accommodation for good reasons - and are very strict about keeping mixed sex to a minimum.

pinky- unfortunately the NHS aren't strict enough. A group I'm in was contacted by a very distressed woman on a psych ward who had a 6'4" man in the bed next to her. When she objected she was told he had every right to be there because he was trans.

I works for my local NHS trust and luckily they have high same sex rates and I've never heard of a situation like that. I'm sure it won't be long though
