Is actually his son.

fancy sharing a cell with this bloke?

This is really serious, violent crime figures are going to be totally distorted as more and more men claim they are women and statisticians meekly record them as such.

Ah, but its just polite to lie about biology

NameChange30 · 26/02/2016 23:15

Has this person had any hormone treatment or surgery?!

I don't think changing your name by deed poll counts as "living as a woman".

Crazy.

PinkIndustry · 26/02/2016 23:19

I heard this on the news today(BBC Radio 4) with no mention of the fact that the murderer is actually a man with a history of committing a sexual offence. Apart from anything else (and by that, I mean all the excellent points already made on this thread), I thought this sounded like a really sad "mercy" killing - so my understanding and perception of the whole case were shaped, erroneously as it turns out, by the way that the facts were completely misrepresented.

There's a word for that - propaganda.

BombadierFritz · 26/02/2016 23:19

Its very genital focused of you to be so interested in whats insides someones pants

Its all about the warm n fuzzy feminine feeling.

zozzij · 26/02/2016 23:45

This is where "preferred pronouns" has got us

Yes.

Cellardoor1 · 27/02/2016 03:56

"My very quick google search says that in America almost 91% of homicides are committed by men. That's a absolutely massive amount of murders for trans women to commit to put a dent in it."

It won't make much difference to the stats on male murders but a relatively small amount of MTF crimes being recorded as female will massively skew the numbers attributed to women. We will see headlines stating that the number of female rapists and murderers is rising when in reality it's just men acting like typical men.

He soiled underwear and tried on other items of clothing? Another fetishist then who no doubt will fight to be put in a womens prison.

Cellardoor1 · 27/02/2016 03:58

YY, PinkIndustry. I heard it too and had no idea of the true facts. Propaganda is right

CrayonShavings · 27/02/2016 08:40

If this man was at large, how would the police and press describe him to the public?

Would we be told to look out for a woman?

EnthusiasmDisturbed · 27/02/2016 09:10

That's a good point about a police description

You would assume the wrong photo had been put on the screen if they went along with his indulgence

msrisotto · 27/02/2016 09:24

Like in medical treatment, I think that would be one of those times that they would cut the crap and stop pretending he is a woman...

vindscreenviper · 27/02/2016 10:53

From that Guardian article
"Darbyshire, who is pre-operative transgender, was forced to spend five months on remand in a male prison awaiting trial. During earlier hearings, she had appeared visibly shaken and upset at HMP Belmarsh."

Some leading language used there, the author implies that male prison is the wrong place for this murderer; this plus the lack of photo is very disingenuous.
Just what I'd expect from the Guardian actually.

BeyondBootcampsAgain · 27/02/2016 10:54

Surely (picking on the wrong point from that article, but still) everybody in prison is forced to be there. Its, umm, the point?! Grin

UnDeuxTroisCatsSank · 27/02/2016 15:15

It is as if we have entered a parallel universe, isn't it?

And many of my feminist leftie friends who are in the habit of thinking "live and let live", "everyone should be able to be who they are, gay or straight or trans"...are missing the point terribly on the current trans issues.

Yes, people should be allowed to live the lives they want as long as their needs and desires do not adversely affect others. So many people seem to be missing this.

Alisvolatpropiis · 27/02/2016 15:21

Wow. Just wow.

QueenLaBeefah · 27/02/2016 15:31

I would imagine the vast majority of male offenders would rather be in a woman's prison.

Clearly a bloke and should be in a prison for men.

BunnyTyler · 27/02/2016 15:39

What woman hasn't broken into another woman's house and wanked into her underwear? Those without sin should cast the first stone IMO.

Haha!!!!
Actually proper laughed out loud at that GrinGrin

WilLiAmHerschel · 27/02/2016 15:43

Me too Bunny. Grin

HermioneWeasley · 27/02/2016 15:50

Glad you enjoyed it! Grin

LumpySpacedPrincess · 27/02/2016 16:12

The patriarchy are rubbing their hands with glee aren't they, finally solved the problem of male violence.

This is similar to how the Tories have dealt with child poverty rates, by "re defining" child poverty, simples.

BeyondBootcampsAgain · 27/02/2016 16:42

Ha, and introduced a living wage simply by calling it "the living wage"

I wonder what's up for redefinition next...?

UnDeuxTroisCatsSank · 27/02/2016 16:46

When did The Guardian become so disingenuous?

OhShutUpThomas · 27/02/2016 16:50

being trapped living as an unpaid career for an elderly relative isn't the worst definition of "living as a female" I've seen.

Quite!

Cocolepew · 27/02/2016 17:04

What the hell?! I saw the photo yesterday and presumed it was the father and thought how young he looked Blush

Of course don't we all have women friends who break into each others houses, whip out their penis and wank into underwear?
No?

Hennifer · 27/02/2016 17:11

How many of us on this thread would be comfortable calling this person 'she'?

BeyondBootcampsAgain · 27/02/2016 17:14

Wild stab in the dark at... Zero of us.
