This is the 17th incarnation of the Feminist Pub!

Here be goats, cannons and chat on feminism and related themes. Also snacks. And booze, copious booze.

Welcome!

Good morning! A day of ferrying people around and hanging around waiting for things. Hmm

OublietteBravo · 14/03/2015 09:11

Good morning. I'm feeling better than I expected. However I have a tired grumpy DS who has a swimming lesson in 20 mins. Then I have to get DD to her school open morning, followed by a climbing lesson. So I'm doing a considerable amount of ferrying/hanging around too.

StormyBrid · 14/03/2015 09:51

I'll swap with you if you like, Oubliette. Ferrying kids around sounds more fun than dealing with a toddler who isn't quite ready to ditch the nappies but is determined to wear big girl pants.

I'm about to go to the post office, then continuing to deal with the boxes of the patriarchy. Sigh.

StillLostAtTheStation · 14/03/2015 11:40

I'm waiting for breakfast to be brought to me in bed.

PuffinsAreFictitious · 14/03/2015 11:50

I've already had my breakfast in bed. You really should get better lackeys, Still.

FibonacciSeries · 14/03/2015 12:28

I'm a bit late, but I just wanted to say that you always came across to me as intelligent and lovely, EBear. And I hear you about choices. I gave up at 32/33 when I realized I was never going to meet anyone and get married and I didn't have the nerve (or frankly, the financial resources) to have a child by myself. Turns out, I met my now DH when I was 38 and now I'm too old to have children. And for the career, I took time off voluntarily now I doubt I will find anything - seems to me that the jobs just aren't there even if you are good at what you do, which I'm sure you are!

PuffinsAreFictitious · 14/03/2015 12:34

EBear just wanted you to know that I really value your contributions on here, and your wit and cleverness elsewhere. I have endless faith that, once you decide what you want to do, you will get there.

StillLostAtTheStation · 14/03/2015 12:34

There was a bit of a battle of wills with the lackey this morning but he lost. I'm still in bed listening to the News Quiz. To be fair to me I was up until 5.30.

PuffinsAreFictitious · 14/03/2015 12:39

Not my fault you have crap lackeys.... maybe you should make them wear different clothes?

OublietteBravo · 14/03/2015 14:18

OK - swimming lesson, open morning and climbing lesson all done. Interesting discussion on whether the invention of the washing machine was more important than that of the vacuum cleaner in terms of freeing women from domestic drudgery. Parcel posted. First load of washing hung out, second load in the machine. Can I have coffee and something to eat now please?

UptoapointLordCopper · 14/03/2015 15:38

I don't have lackeys. Envy

10 minutes break before more ferrying.

Eat something Oubliette! What do you fancy?

kickassangel · 14/03/2015 15:50

You are lacking in lackeys. You are a lackey-lacky. Sad Grin

UptoapointLordCopper · 14/03/2015 15:52

That's not even funny.

Grin
Heckler · 14/03/2015 16:02

I don't really get breakfast in bed any more. Mostly as I am the first one up. I seem to automatically wake at 6.30. Had a lie in today until 7.30. I may have to go back to bed tomorrow, in order to allow the minions to feel they have treated me.

DH has been outside all day fixing my car, and is now plugged Into the rugby.

I have been doing wife work.

DoctorTwo · 14/03/2015 16:37

I've been ferrying people around today for a friend whose car has broken down. Mind you, he's said he'll pay for my petrol and time so I'm not grumbling.

PuffinsAreFictitious · 14/03/2015 16:48

I have been a-marketing.

While there, I spotted DS2 walking hand in hand with an actual, real life girl we've met her before, and she is lovely . I won't be able to say anything to him, but, for anyone who knows DS2's history, this is HUGE, so wanted to squeal about it to people who would understand.

As you were.

OublietteBravo · 14/03/2015 17:34

Just done a sweep of the bedrooms. Anyone like to hazard a guess as to why DD and DS don't seem to have any clean clothes?

PuffinsAreFictitious · 14/03/2015 17:42

Looks familiar Grin

Good article/blog thing by Laura Bates:

www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/womens-blog/2015/mar/13/seven-questions-to-ask-yourself-before-judging-a-pregnant-colleague

I started a new job when I 20 weeks pregnant. People really don't hold back on their opinions. Grin

In unrelated news, I'm going on a self catering holiday on monday with DH, DS, my parents and PIL. For some reason I've become some sort of food coordinator and everyone keeps bothering me and telling me they're bringing bread ffs.

AKnickerfulOfMenace · 14/03/2015 22:15

Great article.

Not my fault you have crap lackeys.

Well no, that's stating the obvious.
