Do feminists believe that vented tumble driers or condensers are best?

Sorry. Inspired by another thread. Grin

Challenging questions for feminists.

Do feminists believe slates or tiles are best for the roof?

Do feminists prefer fitted carpets or floorboards with rugs?

Do feminists believe gammon is best cooked in cherry cola or classic coke?

Do feminists believe potatoes should be mashed or roasted with roast chicken?

Do feminists believe that before they smash the patriarchy, they should focus on male victims of domestic violence or prostate cancer?

I could go on all night but you get the picture. Hmm

Surely okra is a non-gender-conforming vegetable?

LonnyVonnyWilsonFrickett · 23/01/2015 09:46

Okra is a clear tool of the patriarchy. Stewed lady's fingers only serve to remind of us of our rightful place, in the sludge heap of society, the bottom two inches of the pan. Sure, we can dress it up with a little bit of chilli, some cumin, some mustard seeds, call it bhindi bhaji all we like, but let's not pretend that is an act of power. Mere window dressing. However spicy, we are still sticking to the bottom of the pan.

No, it is time to reclaim the proudly phallic symbols which creep above the earth - what are they if not the axilla of the mother goddess, rising to greet the feminist spring? Come leeks, come spring onion/siboes (for we are culturally inclusive too), come [feminist celery] and join a perky stew of change.

I am delighted to hear that MN are capable of such high-flying academic discussion, buffy - I thought they spent all their time swigging gin and thinking of witty deletion messages Grin

Oh goddess yeah, sweetcorn couldn't be more feminine. Think about the unpeeling... also those pesky hairs

ErrolTheDragon · 23/01/2015 11:13

I guess with turnips it depends on whether they're shaped like a thingy or not

Has anyone actually asked MNHQ to provide this? Perhaps someone should find an appropriate image which could be rendered as an icon - we wouldn't want the wrong sort of celery. (though TBH I think the only good celery is finely chopped and cooked, which doesn't really lend itself.)

EElisavetaofJingleBellsornia · 23/01/2015 11:37

[feministcelery]

EElisavetaofJingleBellsornia · 23/01/2015 11:38

Jeez, HQ need to get with the sisterhood.

Sweetcorn is the work of the Horned One

But where do we stand on Spinach, sistes? It goes well in a curry so I think it veers towards the feminist. Then again it has an alarming amount of shrinkage, so possibly a tool of the patriarchy...

sistes? Sisters!!

PasstheDaimbars · 23/01/2015 12:06

Grin just Grin

LonnyVonnyWilsonFrickett · 23/01/2015 12:09

It makes my teeth feel funny.

Anything which makes my teeth feel funny is usually a tool of the patriarchy.

But as we all know sistes-sisters, the plural of 'it makes Lonny's teeth feel funny' is not data - Dr Buffy would be hard-pressed to make that argument to HQ.

ShumbTucker · 23/01/2015 12:20

The conversation has clearly moved on but I would like to add my two pence worth. I like my condenser dryer as when clearing out the filter I find many, many pound coins and as a money grabbing female with magpie tendencies this pleases me as much as smashing the patriarchy and getting my laundry done

Whatever happened to the feminist goat? Hasn't anyone fed it? Is it an ex-goat? Sad

SconeRhymesWithGone · 23/01/2015 13:11

Okra must be cut up, dipped in cornmeal, and fried. This is the only way.

LightningOnlyStrikesOnce · 23/01/2015 13:11

You get pound coins from your dryer? I only find the odd few cents in mine .

Hands up for a [feministcannon]! I want a go.

Incidentally where's our (presumably feminist) goat got to? Has he run off to protect his male kids? Or has she (did anyone ever think to check) gone on an empowerfulling round-the-world beer fuelled holiday current-state survey of international sisterhoods? Maybe she can rule on the most-acceptable type and presentation of celery upon return.

LightningOnlyStrikesOnce · 23/01/2015 13:12

great minds, grimble. Definitely great. Not the other thing.

SconeRhymesWithGone · 23/01/2015 13:13

Are we in the pub?

LightningOnlyStrikesOnce · 23/01/2015 13:16

Pub's kitchen, I think. In our place.

UptoapointLordCopper · 23/01/2015 13:17

We are always in the pub. It's a feminist thing.
